Sporcle - Mentally Stimulating Diversions

Just thought I'd show you all this awesome site, Sporcle (http://www.sporcle.com/). Basically, users create quizzes on the site and they are automatically published for others to play. It's really easy to use and a great way to kill time (Try U.S. States and Countries of the World for a good start ), so, um, yeah, try Sporcle (http://www.sporcle.com/). Here are some good quizzes: US States (http://www.sporcle.com/games/states.php) Countries (http://www.sporcle.com/games/world.php) Periodic Table (http://www.sporcle.com/games/elements.php) Most Common Words in The English Language (http://www.sporcle.com/games/common_english_words.php) And some more strange and yet fun ones: Things in each category with the fewest letters (eg: Countries etc.) (http://www.sporcle.com/games/Leeny/fewest_letters) Things in each category beginning 'A' (eg: Countries etc.). Also B->I games included (http://www.sporcle.com/games/agame.php) Common Passwords (http://www.sporcle.com/games/passwords.php) Pok?mon (http://www.sporcle.com/games/pokemon.php) And a couple of tough ones: The Impossible Quiz (http://www.sporcle.com/games/rockgolf/impossible) (Trust me, this one is HARD) (http://www.sporcle.com/games/Barbaloot/meatloaf) | 2009-11-18 19:24:00 Author: dawesbr Posts: 3280 |
Very cool! My periodic table of elements was shameful . . I shall need to revisit that site until I can do that one. | 2009-11-18 20:01:00 Author: squirlin Posts: 224 |
I'm doing the pokemon one at the moment and it's suprisingly hard xD I'm usually good at naming all the pokemon but now my minds gone blank! ..and now i'm typing here while the timers ticking down D: 48/151, could of done much better xD edit: Muhaha, i did the impossible quiz sneaky | 2009-11-18 20:09:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |
LOL! agreed, the impossible quiz was indeed sneaky. . . The question "What color was George Washington's white Horse?" comes to mind. . . | 2009-11-18 21:20:00 Author: squirlin Posts: 224 |
With pok?mon, I did it with 2 others at once, we managed 148 Periodic table...I'm going to try that now, I had double chemistry today, maybe it'll help! I just discovered the "random" button - load any quiz, and there will be a Random: Quiz - Subject Where "Subject" is the subject you're in at the time. I tried Random - Science, and got the "chemical abbreviations" which would tell you an element (say, Seaborgium) and you typed the abbreviation (in this case Sg). I got 117/118 - Darn Antimony is Sb! So, yeah, Imma try Periodic Table. EDIT: 82/118 Next, US STATES! 48/50, Kansas & Vermont Next...ermm... "Can you name the straight-chain alkanes? 1-13, 20" I got all but 20 (eicosane) EDIT2: I got the first 25 of 28 fibonnacci numbers, got stuck on 28657+46368, and from there on. Oh well. | 2009-11-18 22:20:00 Author: dawesbr Posts: 3280 |
Some of my friends are constantly killing time on these quizzes Some of them are pretty fun, although I don't have a huge amount of general knowledge so I'm not too great at most of them. | 2009-11-19 02:55:00 Author: hilightnotes Posts: 1230 |
Oh man! I should have showed everyone this site! But you beat me to it, dawesbr! I've been going to this site very often the past year. It really is a great site! I love the random quizzes about music and other weird stuff! Thanks for sharing! | 2009-11-19 20:57:00 Author: piggabling Posts: 2979 |

Bah, forgetting the country you live in is a bit embarrassing. | 2009-11-20 14:18:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
I think I did well on the 50 US states. I got 39 out of 50. The difficult ones were states like Delaware, Connecticut, Nebraska, etc. Or in other words the tiny states in the north east and the states in the upper Midwest. I think I'll keep quiet on how I did on the periodic table....let's just say it wasn't pretty. | 2009-11-20 16:52:00 Author: pantspantspants Posts: 189 |
