So i spent a full day making some pretty awesome stuff for my level, I saved numerous times, played through, back into the editor etc etc, then after I turn of my PS3 and come back to my moon, i open the level and NOTHING WAS SAVED, all that work just magically vanished and it reverted to a previous save. Fortunately most of the time spent was tweaking, experimenting and and that so i can recreate what i made fairly easily, but i really don't want to do any more level editing until i know my work will be saved. Have I done something wrong? can I backup my levels to USB stick or something?

This is one of the littlebigplanet save problems, I suggest you save it, then publish it and lock it. That way the level is online and it can't just vanish, whenever you come back you copy it to your moon and you can edit again. I always do this because I've had alot of these save bugs

unfortunately I dont have online access at home due to my PS3 not liking wpa wireless on my router, I will do this when I'm at my friends though, is there no way of saving a level anywhere else?

You can save your LBP data on a USB drive if you wish, but at a price (you won't be able to get trophies with another saved data). Heres a good thread on backing up: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=12403

thanks for pointing me to that thread. I only have 2 trophies left to get anyway, the 4 friends one, and the 50 hearts as author, if my savedata crashes and i use a previous backup on my ps3, can i still get the two remaining trophies? Also when I first got LBP, people said that your moon isnt exportable via a save file... did they fix this then?

The game is designed like that so there's nothing to "fix" there.

Did you return to your pod? LBP doesn't actually save unless you return to your moon.
