It happened again

Alrighty guys and gals, if you noticed this thread is similar to one I had a couple months ago. My PS3 when I started it up last night, it said "Rebuilding hard disk OK" I had no choice so I pressed ok and it said "reinstalling hard drive database" or something along those lines. My friend, who has no PS3 said that my PS3 is retarded and I say it may have saved itself from the imploding doom of the YLOD. I have posted this a couple months ago BUT this has more description of it, if you know anything please tell me.2009-11-18 02:38:00

YLOD is patient. YLOD just waits. Wears down the CPU, the GPU, the whole of the system. YLOD always wins.

Agreed. Try not to turn it off from anywhere other than the XMB. That said, never turn it off directly from the back. Always shut the console down from the interface or - if that's not an option for whatever reason - go ahead and hold the on/off "switch" at the front of the console if you're sure it's not in the middle of accessing the HDD.

ive gotten YLOD twice now so maybe i can help.
YLOD is an ocasional kind of virus (possibly) that can cause serious issues. the only way to stop this is to follow some simple steps

1)never turn it directly off from the back

2)cover it at night as not to allow dust to get at it

3)play for no more that 10 hours a day at max!

4)dont have it in a compact space

5)dont put your PS3 on its side when playing a game.

all of these tips have helped me good luck

Heh, I've unplugged my PS3 before when it was in the middle of a screen freeze (ruined my 1st account; saved my 2nd ~_^). Here's my routine:
1. NEVER touch the PS buttons on your controllers ANYWHERE in the house (I literally tried that on the john; it still turned on o_O)
2. When you're given the chance, buy a AC Cooling attachment. Helps out tremendously when cooling your PS3.
3. Keep your PS3 standing. When on its side, the CD scratches, causing (obviously) ruined games,
4. Use the Internet browser sparingly. I've almost "crashed" my PS3 several times using it.

Other than that, nothin' much I can say. I've had my PS3 for well over a year now, and... it's never got YLOD (and it's a 60G too; aren't those prone to YLOD?).

Pfffft. Lay your PS3 flat, insert a game, play it for about, say, 2-4 hours, then take it back out. Do you see a scratch?

If not, then simply press down on top of it, and THEN tell me if you see a scratch.

I've been playing multiple games for varying lengths of time on 2 ps3's in the horizontal position over the last 2 years, no scratches.2009-11-22 09:29:00
