Who knows if it'll pop up on the cool pages. Probably. Check it..it's cool. | 2009-11-17 20:30:00 Author: BasketSnake Posts: 2391 |
Always loved that series (and of course Long Way series, too) I'll have to record it soon. | 2009-11-17 20:45:00 Author: JKthree Posts: 1125 |
I think it's on page 6 on Cool Levels . | 2009-11-17 22:13:00 Author: brnxblze Posts: 1318 |
There are some pretty crazy contraptions in this one. | 2009-11-17 22:32:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
I played it earlier. It must have taken a long time to come up with such varied, original and mechanically brilliant ideas used in this level. Its by far the greatest level ive played so far. Im very bored of the gameplay in lbp, but this levels is just about giving you the most mechanically well thought out incredibly fun journey. Its just amazing! | 2009-11-18 00:26:00 Author: SteveBigGuns Posts: 423 |
I wish he spent as much time on the look of the level as he did with all the mechanical stuff. At least it's much better than that A Long Way series, it's clearly a rip off. | 2009-11-18 03:14:00 Author: TheFirstAvenger Posts: 787 |
Yeah, I'd agree that the visuals were just "meh" but some some of the mechanisms were brilliant. The highlight for me? When the car hit the elevator button. Haha - classic. | 2009-11-18 03:55:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
This newest Maxed Out puts all the imitations to shame (and even Qugz own first 2 to an extent) I agree the only flaw is the general visuals in some spots, but that doesn't really matter when it's so full of inventive ideas. It was probably more fun to watch than play. Definitely a must-play. | 2009-11-18 12:07:00 Author: TripleTremelo Posts: 490 |
The highlight for me? When the car hit the elevator button. Haha - classic. Yeah, that was my favourite bit as well. (Excluding BasketSnake being trapped in the lift when we played it with Qugz. ^.^) | 2009-11-18 15:15:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
I keep telling him to add eyes on the car. It'd be sooo good. | 2009-11-18 16:15:00 Author: BasketSnake Posts: 2391 |
Finally did some recording (drat i wanted to get some LBP PSP stuff before doing more PS3, *sigh*) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNDrMQ_rUsQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWHi9IEMBeM | 2009-11-18 17:00:00 Author: JKthree Posts: 1125 |
You know... I enjoyed the first two of this series, but I always felt they lacked compelling gameplay.... Not this one! Wow, this is one of the most impressive levels I've ever seen - AND it had some great gameplay! | 2009-11-18 23:53:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
Wow! Thanks for the recommendation!! That was pretty darn cool!! I agree it could have used some more decoration, but oh well... the car sequences were hysterical!!! | 2009-11-19 13:03:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
Update: I played it again and experienced some problems. I'm not sure what I did to anger the LBP gods this time, but I found a minor thing, and pretty major thing: For one, during the second car section, with all the flipping and twirling and what-not, the car managed to break. It flashed to an "Experiencing Technical Difficulties" screen, and respawned sackboy to a later part of the level. Kind of funny how he accounted for the problem, but it was unfortunate that I had to die like that. Secondly, in the little "walker" section, the legs started to tip over. They would fall slow enough that they would knock the next walker over as well. The problem is that each time one of them fell, it would use a creature brain to destroy itself. I noticed that once I got past the section, I would every-so-often be rewarded with a random 50 points. In theory, I could've just waited it out and watched as I claimed the top score. Even though I didn't dawdle, I still left the level with the 4th highest score, having died several times throughout. Oh well. Not sure what changed... | 2009-11-19 14:38:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |

I also experienced the walker thing.... but it seemed to self-correct itself after a few. I figured it was part of the game | 2009-11-19 14:55:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
I believe all the parts are supposed to work like you think they should but for each thing that breaks he's "fixed" it by pushing the spawnpoint ahead. He's still fixing the bugs but for each one fixed another one is introduced. Qugz and I have come up with an idea for a minigame and we're going to make a prototype each and show each other and then decide where to go from there. Cool stuff. | 2009-11-19 16:19:00 Author: BasketSnake Posts: 2391 |

Wow, this is one of the most impressive levels I've ever seen - AND it had some great gameplay! Ditto CCubbage, gameplay was fun. I played this late last night and was excited to see all the brilliant contraptions. Fresh. Inventive and unique. My only complaint was I got stuck underneath the cart when it flipped over. I tried to rock it back and forth to get out but it wouldn't budge. And since the cp was inside the cart, I could pop/kill myself to redo it. Good level though. Thanks for the recommendation Basketsnake. | 2009-11-19 19:22:00 Author: SHENOA77 Posts: 184 |
The stuff is so complex it'd be hard to make it work 100% of the time with all the variables involved. I'm happy he has a fail-safe for every part just in case. | 2009-11-20 09:41:00 Author: TripleTremelo Posts: 490 |

I agree - considering the mechanics its hard to fault some things going wrong sometimes. | 2009-11-20 11:58:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
So that "we are experiencing difficulty" thing was a fail safe!?!?! Color me impressed if it's the case. Never seen a creator taking care of stuff this way. lol . | 2009-11-20 22:50:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
Yep, awesome level, and a genuinely awesome creator who takes the care to create an innovative level full of magical ideas, but who also takes the time to think of almost every possible outcome from player decisions. Very, very brilliant. | 2009-11-21 00:16:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |
I didn't experience any of the hang-ups you guys mentioned, it was a smooth ride for me. That car thing is cool as all hell. This level reminds me of some by a japanese creator named touki555. His are boring looking too, made of plain wood and rock, but he has some freakin amazing contraptions and unique gameplay that make up for it. Maybe the fact that these machines have to have a lot of traction makes these ugly materials favorable. Who knows... | 2009-11-24 16:22:00 Author: kaiju_kid Posts: 329 |
Qugz and I are making a minigame together. It won't be published until online create is out because we want to go over it together and polish and test properly first. Right now there's only so much we can do. He's doing logic stuff and I'm making scenery. | 2009-11-24 16:45:00 Author: BasketSnake Posts: 2391 |
I don't know whether or not this happened to others but the first time I played it the entire first section broke. I spawned into the level and heard a crack, that's when everything fell apart. I then restarted the level and it worked fine. I liked the level but I didn't heart it because the visuals are VERY unimpressive. | 2009-11-24 19:21:00 Author: TheFirstAvenger Posts: 787 |
That was on page one of cool levels today.. And as usual the level did not dissapoint.. It blows my mind how creative some of you guys are and how amazing your levels turn out.. I am in awe really... | 2009-11-25 04:04:00 Author: Unknown User |
