http://www.daviddino.com/armorboyport01.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnC9-GV8AM8 Just messing around with the Create Mode to see if I can properly recreate the Armorboy experience from the PS3 version. Using some functions of the Mm Gundam such as the shield function and stabilization on top of simplified yet improved controls, this is probably my best controlling Mecha yet. Granted there are no paintinator functions, I'm definitely going to have to keep it old school in regards to life logic. But I have a few tricks up my sleeve. These functions will cross over to future mecha in the PS3 version. Another thing I'd like to note is that due to the lack of layers in the PSP version, I was relegated to essentially mimicking 2D art. Kinda surprised the materials really lent well to giving the Armorboy an anime-ish look. =) Will update as progress continues. | 2009-11-17 09:38:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |
Cool, but is the video loading for any one else? I can't get it to work. | 2009-11-17 10:52:00 Author: Darth J464 Posts: 343 |

Here is the proper video link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnC9-GV8AM8 Edit: I wonder why the whole armorboy flips over to fire backwards instead of just the gun? It looks a bit comical. | 2009-11-17 11:12:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
That is awesome! I love how you made the bullets look like paintinator paint balls. I can't wait to play your level. | 2009-11-17 11:48:00 Author: Darth J464 Posts: 343 |
Can't wait to play it! Appear on the PSN store already darnit!!! | 2009-11-17 14:19:00 Author: Theap Pleman Posts: 670 |

Sorry about the messed up link. It was nearly 2AM in the morning. Anyway, about the whole thing flipping over... weird huh? I liken it to being an acrobatic mecha like in most anime nowadays with the wacky maneuvers and what not. But really, it serves a purpose as there will be a bit of backtracking. And from a design standpoint, it looks like it's always in motion versus just continuously facing forward. If I had 3 layers, I'd definitely make it look much more complex. And for those of you who have seen Gundam 00, it kinda looks like a Flag, no? Thanks! | 2009-11-17 15:45:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |
Well, thinking back on it. The whole flipping upside down thing could work really well for a "zero-g" environment. Since in zero-g it doesn't matter whether you're on the floor, ceiling or even walls. | 2009-11-17 16:00:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
Look amazing. This could've been in story mode imo! Looks cartoony but cool. THe shield looks better than the PS3 one. This gives me hope that create is good | 2009-11-17 17:06:00 Author: Unknown User |
It looks awesome! It certainly already is an example of how powerful the create options are. I REALLY love the way you implemented the Grab Switch as the Armorboy's hand. | 2009-11-17 17:16:00 Author: FULLGORR Posts: 245 |

Just messing around with a new control scheme I came with made it so much easier to control altogether. And making the cartoony look was totally unintended, but will now be used a the visual design for the level. And honestly, create mode is as good as you want it to be. It's just getting a hang of the toolset that requires some time. I'm pretty accustomed to it quirks already. Well, thinking back on it. The whole flipping upside down thing could work really well for a "zero-g" environment. Since in zero-g it doesn't matter whether you're on the floor, ceiling or even walls. Pretty much. I simply wanted to harken wacky aerial manuevers that look cool, lol. It looks awesome! It certainly already is an example of how powerful the create options are. I REALLY love the way you implemented the Grab Switch as the Armorboy's hand. You know, the hand grab switch thing was another design element that was completely unintended. There just happened to be a grab switch in the vicinity and it looked perfect, lol! | 2009-11-17 22:14:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |
And once again Donkey_show kills off a game before we've even played it. That was epic | 2009-11-17 22:16:00 Author: Coxy224 Posts: 2645 |
Maybe you can have parts of the level upside down as well. I will have to check out the PS3 version of this when I get the chance. | 2009-11-17 22:21:00 Author: Darth J464 Posts: 343 |
This is the lovely part about having this game on the PSP. On my breaks at work and when I went to the restroom for an extended period (lol, but seriously), I added more functionality to the controls making them a lot easier regardless of direction the Armorboy is facing. I've also added more visual clues to let you know what you're pressing considering it's hard to tell when you're enclosed. All of that was done at work during spare time. Sooo good. | 2009-11-18 02:35:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |
And I can access the internet with it, unlike my ps3!!! Can't wait to see the level for this (when you release it, when I dl the game...etc) | 2009-11-18 02:42:00 Author: Theap Pleman Posts: 670 |
okay now i really cant wait to get this game, that thing looked awesome, nice job man | 2009-11-18 03:03:00 Author: chesteranium Posts: 15 |
Thanks! I just finished working on regenerative health for the armorboy with some visual clues to let you know when you're getting damaged in replacement of the paintinator switch. It's so nice being able to work on this anywhere. | 2009-11-19 03:34:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |
Thats actually really sweet looking, it gives me hope that once I finish the single player story mode I'll be able to do another Starwars level on the small screen. Its just getting used to that corner editor tool as opposed to shaping objects on my own, also I will miss the ability to copy objects on the fly, but I'm loving this game so far. | 2009-11-19 10:38:00 Author: CloudStrife_ca Posts: 57 |

Darn. And here I thought that if I made a level during the early days of LBP PSP, it might be considered good. Your mech blows anything I could possibly make out of the water. Definitely looking forward to trying it out. | 2009-11-26 05:33:00 Author: StrayFelisCatus Posts: 178 |
Unbelievable, you already made an ArmorBoy for the PSP version. I'm still trying the Edit Mode and trying to make some contraptions, and you made a working ArmorBoy! You're incredible. Mmm...I had an idea: you can make some "Connection" between PSP and PS3 versions. An example: finishing the PSP level (when you'll make it), you find a code, and yusing it on the PS3 level you unlock an extra ArmorBoy or similiar. What do you think? | 2009-11-26 16:36:00 Author: Dante95 Posts: 504 |
Woah... do you plan to implement this onto the PS3 version? | 2009-11-26 17:17:00 Author: Kern Posts: 5078 |
We are still waiting for this awsome machine | 2011-07-13 21:09:00 Author: Unknown User |
