Hi all.

Please give me some advice on whether you think they are alright (and if all the parts would all work together). In both builds the case, keyboard, mouse and speakers are fairly generic.

PC 1. INTgamesEL

DVD: 5.25" SATA DVD Buner/Rw Samsung SH-S223-BL 22x Black (oem)
MONITOR: WideScreen LCD Monitor 19" ASUS VH192D (5ms)
PSU: Power Supply 650W Coolermaster eXtreme Plus RS-650-PCARE3-AU (with SATA Cable)

PC 2. AMD

MOBO: AMD AM2 S940 Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3P
CHIP: AMD AM2 Athlon 64x2 Dual Core 6000+ (3.0GHz/2MB/89w)
RAM: Desktop DDR2 Ram 2GB Kit (2x1024MB) PC8500 1066MHz Kingston HyperX KHX8500D2K2/2GN 5-5-5-15
VID CARD: PCI-e (nV) 9500GT 1GB Sparkle SF-PX95GT1024U2-HP (550/800MHz)
HDD: 3.5" HDD SATA-300 500GB 16MB Seagate (7200rpm)
DVD: 5.25" SATA DVD Buner/Rw Samsung SH-S223-BL 22x Black (oem)
MONITOR: WideScreen LCD Monitor 19" ASUS VH192D (5ms)
PSU: Power Supply 650W Coolermaster eXtreme Plus RS-650-PCARE3-AU (with SATA Cable)

According to itestate.com.au the prices for the above would be PC 1: $1054 and PC 2: $952

Thanks in advance.

Not sure where you're from, but if you live in the US, you can get equivalent computers for less than half of that the day after thanksgiving. Check out the forums over at slickdeals.net - they usually make a nice checklist of what's on mega-sale and where. Good luck.2009-11-18 00:07:00

Meh, only one specifically designed for the mac, and that is COD4. It's exactly like on pc... but on mac lol

As for the rest, windows xp or windows 7 (from what I hear) can be installed on your mac so it can play all PC games. Yay!

Yup, search it up. You use a program called bootcamp to make up to (i think around) 36% of your computers space windows while the rest is still Mac OS.

Apple = win!

Haven't you been able to dual boot on macs since they switched over to intel?

Regarding advising the OP to switch to mac - if you are a casual user then I'd advise anyone to stick with whatever they are comfortable with / used to. Each of the major OS families have their strengths and weaknesses - so if you have more specialist needs then it totally makes sense to switch, but not if you're just doing a few noddy tasks on a computer then it really makes little difference.

To be fair I've been using windows 7 a while now and I love it. Vista was a disaster and I hated it, but 7 is fab. In terms of those specs, you could get a cheaper computer that's more powerful if you shop around most likely.2009-11-19 11:56:00
