right then guys i have recently finished watching a series on TV called Electric Dreams the people in it went from 1970 through to 2000 advancing 1 year per day and getting all the new gadgets and gizmoes of that year. so now i have been inspired to buy up all the well known retro games consoles and games such as N64 wiht goldeneye and Sega Dreamcast and PSONE i loved the ps1 when it firs came out especially a game calle spyro which was an awesome game my whole family loved it.

But anyway i was thinking of starting up a group on here for all fans of retro games where we can discuss recent games we've played and so on. so if anyone is interested please reply to this thread.

The games and console i am currently going to buy are:

N64: Mortal Kombat (the original), Goldeneye 007
PS1: Spyro, lots more

i will be buying more but these are the ones am going to be getting after christmas so i look forward to seeing you retro gamers in the social group:

Actually, I never sold my favorite games on each consoles and didn't sell my consoles either so I have a pretty meaty collection of old games that I replay from time to time.

The patent wore out on the SNES this past year, so thinkgeek.com has (or had, haven't been there in a while, so forgive me if they don't have em anymore) knock-off super nintendos that you can buy there. I believe they play nintendo games, too. ^_^2009-11-17 13:11:00

Come on, the PS1, N64 and Dreamcast aren't retro consoles!

Just because they play the music I used to listen to on VH1 now...

Well...two weeks ago I started a new file for Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

I think I spent maybe an hour just hanging around Gerudo Valley so I could listen to the music.

None the less it was pretty fun going back to games I used to played when I was a youngen'

Oh and if LBPC allowed MIDI files embedment then you could be jamming to The Gerudo Valley theme as you read this post.

Here it is though:

When I have been little, my parents always made me sell my old consoles...

I hated that.. I loved all of them! My NES, my Sega Master System.. Basically all of them! Nowadays I already got some of the old Retro-Consoles back. Thanks to the electronic Bay and whatnot... But I miss all my game-collections...

I'm glad to be able to keep some of the SNES-RPGs like Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore and Terranigma...

Nowadays I keep all of the Pre-Generation's Consoles, so my collection now consists of: PS3 (of course ), 360 (for exclusives), Wii, Gamecube, PS2, SNES, Dreamcast (ShenMue <3 ) and N64...

I like to plug in that old SNES and play some Terranigma, because also beeing able to play the same games on Wii, it just isn't the same!

So, what I wanted to say is: Retro roxx!

If you really want to get retro... try playing the pc text game Collosal Caverns... also known as Colossal_Cave_Adventure (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colossal_Cave_Adventure). Annotated "Adventure" Frameset (http://jerz.setonhill.edu/if/gallery/adventure/index.html)

I loved the Infocom pc games back in the mid 80s. They were the master's of the text game. Zork, Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy.... You can play an udpated version here HHGTTG here BBC4 Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/hitchhikers/game.shtml)

Text games really improved my reading comprehension, problem solving skills and are what honed my typing skills. To me it was like reading an interactive book where you made the decisions for the main character. They were also fun and satisfying to complete. For those who like to think and solve puzzles check out Play Infocom Adventures Online (http://www.xs4all.nl/~pot/infocom/) where you can play all of the classic Infocom games for free.

You can find many of these games online for free today.

Early graphic pc games like Sierra Online's Space Quest (http://www.spacequest.net/) w/ Roger Wilco also rocked. I love humor in my games. You can play some of the Sierra online games for free at Sarien.net: Instant Adventure Gaming (http://www.sarien.net/)
