New Super Mario Bros. Wii!

Super Mario Bros. Wii releases today. Whose getting it? It is quite possibly my most looked forward to game of the year. Traditional Mario games are already amazing, but playing said levels with 4 people? Man, I cannot wait.

Just got my copy. This was a day one buy for me. You just can't miss a full fledged Mario game in 2D ---- IN 2009. I mean, wow.

I finished the first world with all the coins. This game is amazing. At least better than NSMB DS in every way so far.

Will definitely be getting this for Christmas. I love the 2D Mario platformers and this looks just as good as the DS's New Super Mario Bros.2009-11-16 17:28:00

I won't be getting this for two reasons:

1. Nintendo is clique and repetitive

Hehe, I wish. It seems like Nintendo got lazy in the character department, which makes no sense to me and is honestly a huge disappointment. The Mario series has, without a doubt, the largest backlog of characters for any video game series and it pains me that they only included Mario, Luigi... and two Toads.

Otherwise, it's an awesome game! I was doing some 4-player co-op (if you can call it that) with friends after school today. It was amazingly fun, playing it with others is a completely different game than when one goes it alone.

When you play it by yourself, it's a down to basics Mario game, which is good, how can you go wrong with Mario? But when a few others hop in (and I mean "hop" very literally as you're always getting jumped on), it is best defined as controlled chaos, as, to put it bluntly, some crazy sh#t goes down. You'll never look at a Mario game the same way again after you try to make a jump, only to plummet to your death due to another player jumping off of you, in order to make the same jump.

The best was when everyone was all out of lives except for one person and said person was having to jump between several platforms which were spinning in a circle. He missed the jump, but before we were able to jokingly yell and scream, he managed to, despite inexplicable odds, wall jump up said moving platform and remain safe... only to die in the next (very easy) jump.

Another great, common instance was when we all tried to race each other to the end. You have to remain with the pack or die, either way, we were yelling and laughing like their was no tomorrow.

Of course, this points to a pretty disjointed, yet absolutely fun as hell experience. This leads to my other complaint. There is no incentive to working as a team, we all end up with a "kill or be killed" mentality, which despite being incredibly fun, can only get you through a few levels.

An idea I had to possibly solve this would be to have, at the end of each match an ability to vote who was the nicest, who was the worst, etc. and give penalties/ enhancements to the aforementioned person.

But, yeah, the game is amazing, or dare I even say "epic", as much as I hate to use that term. I hope everyone gets a chance to play it.		2009-11-17 03:51:00

amazing video. I just got this game and I love it. Having played pretty much every Mario game that has come out, it's awesome to see some of the more obscure enemies return. And I'm really loving playing competitively with a group... So much fun to toss someone into a pit.2009-11-18 02:31:00

Guys seriously,

This game is EASILY my game of the year 2009. I'm completely flabergasted. I completed the 2 first world and this game is RIGHT UP with Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World in quality. No kidding. NSMB DS was a joke beside it.

honestly? i've been a nintendo fan boy all my life, and probably always will be. you can blame zelda for that.

but i was always a huge fan of the mario side-scrollers as much as the 3D platformers.

but after having been playing LBP for so long now, when i got this, it just felt, i dunno... bleh.

i played through the first couple worlds of this game, and while i admit it is fun as heck, i had to go back and play LBP to cleanse my palate. i guess i just got so used to it, and it feels more natural to me now.		2009-11-27 00:06:00
