Legend of a Hero ch.3Miglioshin
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=953&pictureid=8464After being summoned not only to rescue a princess (and possibly... "marry" her ... *cough ... cough*), but to save an entire realm; after have flown to the heaven shrine and overcoming the legendary trials; after have destroyed the lost souls exorcizing the filty catacombs with the sacred holy sword; after have helped the wolf guardian to take back all his magic; the adventure continues...
all

This level carries on the story, but I'm not used to tell a story by magic mouth, so the story is actually told by your actions in the game.

In this level I introduced ''the-story-so-far-teller-machine'' (from ShinTec obviously... lol), that is optional and (most important) skippable (is this a word? hmmm...).

To not spoil much of it, I can say:
The level is divided in three main 'zones':
- 1st 'puzzle zone'
- 2nd 'platforming zone'
- 3rd 'surprise zone' (bwahuahuahuahuha!)

Due to the weight of shapes I inserted I haven't been able to build all the things that I planned (and exactly how I planned them), as usual.
So the level may result shorter than the 2nd chapter (for most of the palyers' joy, lol)...

I also wanted to insert some kind of power-up system so I inserted prize bubbles that have to be collected but, though it doesn't seem so, you actually haven't to allow your profile to collect community prizes to use them in the level.

The level is (again) silhouetted (I love it, y'know?) but unlikely from cave escape I concentrated most on the visual style (on which the serie is based); so it is heavily stickered and most of them are custom ones.

Last thing I must mention:
though it's possible to play this level in multi, it is specifically designed for solo mode, you're warned.
But I can't exclude to add more multiplayer friendly fixes in the future.

And now a big, big, BIG thanks to GEK83 for letting me replicate one of his contraptions.

Some pics:

The spooky forest, here you will see something really special from ShinTec!

The beginning; to the right 'the-story-so-far-teller-machine';
to begin grab the bridge, as clearly explained by the (moving!) sun

That's because I was ill and home from work.
This level in particular suffered from several stops in creating and there is also an earlier version (completely different from this one) that I just trashed entirely at about 50% completion...

I got the extreme pleasure to beta test it.
I don't want to spoil anything...
I shall say that you must pay very attention to visual clues at the beginning of the level.
You'll lose your jaw in the surprise section.

Again an amazing level and a worthful addiction to the Legend of a Hero storyline.

I got to play partially through this, and I gotta say.... so far, this level is absolutely incredible. I had played all your other levels except for this series, and I decided a bit in that I would sit down and play the ENTIRE series tonight in one big shot. It has me intrigued.

I have it rated 5 stars with a heart, and I WILL be going into it in a few hours to go through them all.

Amazing level Mig, I can't say enough about it. Again, you've struck a fine balance with visual brilliance and gameplay. It's striking to say the least. Your use of materials, stickers, and effects (like lightning) combined with items like the fire shoes, gauntlet, and sword all combine to make a stunning portrait on screen. Pure excellence, my friend.2009-11-17 23:17:00

Well...

I BEG you to keep in mind that the first 2 chapters are reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally old stuff; there were no invisible pistons, no mgs pack, nothing!
Moreover I was a newbe around here, so I didn't know all the useful creating tricks and experienced tips I learned so far from LBPC members!!
And you will also notice that they are still affected by some design flaws...

In my defence (lol) I can say that, by that time, they was mentioned in the community spotlight aswell (due to my low activity rate... remember? lol)

I hope they don't disappoint you... lol... ^_^''

Maaaaaaaaaany thanks Shenoa (also for the betatesting and the suggestions provided ; you, Omegaslayer and the others 'testers' that had the patience to join each time I invited, like twice or three times or more a day, also in a couple minutes, were precious audience in creating this level and, obviuosly, cave escape)

Well, I went ahead and played the newest one (will get to the others a bit later... I know they're old, I've been meaning to play them for a LONG time).

Loved it! The picture puzzle was fantastic, the fire area was VERY cool, and the boss was incredibly unique.

If I had to nitpick about anything at all, it would be I think some of the pictures were so similar in the picture puzzle that even though I paid quite a bit of attention, I had to go down the stairs several times to compare the differences... not on the crest picture, but the sword and the angel pictures.

But, that is a really small detail and I wouldn't take it as a downside, only an observation.

I'll leave the 5 stars and hearts on there... definately worth every moment!

In the meantime I decided to check the previous two chapter, examining them with the know-how I learned around here.

In a couple hours I fixed some flaws in the design; moreover I spotted nonsenses (in the building process) that made me think "What I was thinkin of?".

So I earned 2 NOTCHES of thermo in the first chapter, fixed some winches flaws and fixed the wizard behaviour at the beginning (if you stopped he was rapidly 'walking' back and foth, now it is a little bit more normal).

This open the possibility to increase the length of chapter one (one of its negatives stressed out by the feedback received that time was that it is a bit short).

As for chapter two, I fixed some flaws and it seems that I solved the 'blue crystal-autoglue' problem.

And one last thing:

BUMP!

Ok, here's my post:
I loved this level too, another great one of the series, with a very nice silhouette. Nice the idea of the rapid flashback at the beginning, and then, the level starts. The atmosphere is always good, and the bats animation was really awesome!
The Castle was well made, nice details, and cool bells. I had to re-see the three pictures to solve the puzzle xD The idea of the power ups was interessing, and obliviously the "contaption" of GEK83 was his great sword!
Liked the burning area, with the power ups of the boots that allows you to walk in the fire. The fishes were funny, but when i was there, there was a little problem with the spech-bubbles: they disapeared all before i could read, so i repressed triangle to read them. Nice final battle with the boss, the sword makes it much credible.
Overall, another great level.

I am glad of it in a particular way, sice you allowed me to replicate the sword system in my level (something I wouldn't have come up to by myself), it's a good thing you think it was worth it.

I will continue to use the sword-fight system in future chapters.

I absolutely loved this chapter. 10 stars and fifty author hearts.

I thought the picture puzzle was awesome. The equipment powerups were also a nice touch. It's fun to see you use the technology that you normally use for platforming, but to advance a storyline. Once I realized what was going on, I peeled the stickers off of the examples and glued them to Sackboy to move them upstairs. If you can't figure that out, I say you DESERVE to go up and down the stairs!

The wyvern fireballs were very stylized and cool-looking.

Those bats! How do they WORK?!

I liked the opening slideshow, but it seemed to work strangely. It started out as a one-shot, but at one point near the middle, starting moving continuously from slide to slide, without stopping.

I know these levels get bad ratings - maybe people are expecting you to make nothing but extreme platforming challenges. I really like most of your levels, easy or difficult, so I say just keep making what you want. 3 stars is a tragedy for any of your levels...so let's just ignore that!

I don't have anything to F4F just now. Call it a freebie - I loved this level, and I thought you should know.

I can't belive no one still have cheated the easiest way:

TAKE A PICTURE!
Sacky brings with him his faboulous digital camera for all the time!
This is it, from the very first play in LBP history!
And people only use it to upload bad picture or bad language!
Hhhhaaaaahhhh(*breathing*)... the people...

The wyvern fireballs were very stylized and cool-looking.

And this is thanks to OmegaSlayer that suggested me to use the candle glitch, I would have used white plasma balls instead!

Those bats! How do they WORK?!

Oh well... with a lot of work, sweat, blood and tears.
Collect them and pour them into the usb port #3 of your ps3.
First of all throw the cat out (through the window, beware) and don't let it enter for a week.
The cat part is really important so, if you don't have a cat, just go buy one.
Now manage to load a corrupted lbp savefile and enter a level that cannot open.
Once inside rapidly pause and unpause ten times in a row, you have to end up paused for this to work.
Now open your poppit and select corner edit tool, double checkpoint, jungle music and a player sensor, but don't place anything.
Go to play mode and then back in create mode, without going to the pod.
Now select the tooth decoration and place it in the centre of each eye of your sack, that has to be completely naked and stickered white with 3, and only 3, stickers (oh, the round one not the square).
The teeth have to be 45? from inside to outside, from bottom to top.
Then make sackboy rotate three times clockwise and one and a half counter-clockwise.
At this point save the level and pubblish it locked but copyable and re-load the game without tuning off your ps3.
Copy the pubblished level on your moon and enter create mode.
Open your poppit and you will find a golden player sensor, place it anywhere you want, set it to one shot and connect it to itself.
Each time you activate it bats will appear!

LOL

No.
Nothing special in that, glass, rubber, pistons, dark matter and emitters.
A simple animation between two emitters, but it's surprising, isn't it?

LOL

I liked the opening slideshow, but it seemed to work strangely. It started out as a one-shot, but at one point near the middle, starting moving continuously from slide to slide, without stopping.

It's an issue I wasn't able to solve in an effective way.
It happens when sackboy rapidly trigger the switch several times, usually when you jump/stay close to/over the brink of the button.

I know these levels get bad ratings - maybe people are expecting you to make nothing but extreme platforming challenges. I really like most of your levels, easy or difficult, so I say just keep making what you want. 3 stars is a tragedy for any of your levels...so let's just ignore that!

Yeah... but it is REALLY daunting sometimes...

No, the bats were truly amazing. It funny to see how a detail (because after al the bats are a detail) can make a level seems better. Your level was already great, so that detail gives it more "awesome factor".
And yes, the awesome factor is really important for a level. Really.

Ok then, shall we say it?

I ditn't posted anything about that but I think that the moment has arrived.

With this level:

I WON THE 3RD LBR PLATINUM TROPHY COMPETITION - SACKSGIVING!

I will receive the exclusive handmade throphy at home.

http://www.sackcast.com/lbr/?p=221#comments

Again thank YOU, along with, like I mentioned in the level description, OmegaSlayer, Squirlin, Siniki90, ShadowHeaven and Gek83; without the help of theese guys/gals the level would have been surerly worser than this.

A particular mention of honour goes to my singer Juso (he does not own videogames) who helped me figure out what to do in this 3rd chapter, like:
HIM:
''why don't you have sackboy to collect pieces of attire and do awesome things like walk on the flames?''
ME:
''it's not possible... you simply cannot have sackboy pick up something different from paintinator or jetpack''
HIM:
''Oh man, you're always ranting about my ideas!''

LOL!

Hi Miglioshin, sorry about the late reply to your PM, I have been a bit inactive on here recently.

First of all congrats on some amazing work, the visual style is second to none and I really enjoyed the level. You hade some great puzzley bits and some enjoyable platforming (which is quite hard to master!). I really loved the fight at the end, the waggley sword was kinda cute!

As always with feedback, the best stuff is critical and I have been picky as if I wasnt I wouldnt have much to write!

-While not a bad point as such, the first part with the two angels is a little bit hard to grasp for the average player who stumbles upon the level and may be one of the reasons that you only have 3 stars - because they cant be bothered to work it out. While it would be a shame to ruin the puzzle it may be an idea to put a bit more of a hint in there
-Annoying sound of dissolving when you get in the castle, I dont even know what it's for but would it be possible to make it do that further away so that you cant hear it?
-One part I found really rewarding was locating the 2 way switch on the roof that dropped the chandeliers and gave me the points, more bits like this would be great as it really gives the perfectionists a challenge (like prize bubbles in story mode). Only problem is there isnt enough, you could maybe hide a few more in there somewhere
-Prize bubbles just after grabbing the gauntlet - I jumped and landed in the bubles which caused the cutscene camera to stop my movement and prevent my multiplier - minor niggle but annoying if you want the highest score!
-after completing the platforming part and jumping down to get the line of prize bubbles, I almost jumped back to where I started by going left as I didnt realise this at first which would have been irritating, would be a good idea to block this route off as if I was the average LBPer who got that far it would make me consider giving up and giving a low score which would be a shame!
-Bigger trigger radius on cutscene camera mouth after getting out of the water, I jumped out and missed it as I jumped too far
-May be a pain for the thermometer but when getting a powerup the camera goes to another point in the level to show a picture which looks awesome however It is clear that it is just the camera moving, what I have tried in my levels is to dim the lighting to nothing then to turn it back on so that you cant see anything untill the lights come back to how they were and show the picture. Just a little aesthetic thing!

Hope this helps, drop me a PM any time you want more feedback, I havent done a level recently so Im not looking for any F4F

First of all:

THIS is a feedback guys!

Hi Miglioshin, sorry about the late reply to your PM, I have been a bit inactive on here recently.

No bother, but I hope you'll be more active in the future!

First of all congrats on some amazing work, the visual style is second to none and I really enjoyed the level. You hade some great puzzley bits and some enjoyable platforming (which is quite hard to master!). I really loved the fight at the end, the waggley sword was kinda cute!

I remember Legend of a Hero (proudly) inspired you your Bad Weather level, so I thought you HAD to see the latest long waited installement of the saga.

I thought about this very hard while building and tweaking it, but I come up only with that sentence to not ruin the atmosphere ('' Only the blessed touch of angels can save souls from evil '&apos.

-Annoying sound of dissolving when you get in the castle, I dont even know what it's for but would it be possible to make it do that further away so that you cant hear it?

It's due to the blue aura of the mystical gauntlets being emitted and demitted, straight under the cathedral.
I thought about starting it only when the cript opens, but it never worked without a reason (trust me, maybe some sort of glitch) so I decided to leave it on.

The problem is that it took too long to build so I lost track of secret areas and when I realized I inserted any it was too late...

-Prize bubbles just after grabbing the gauntlet - I jumped and landed in the bubles which caused the cutscene camera to stop my movement and prevent my multiplier - minor niggle but annoying if you want the highest score!

If you want the highscore you have to be smarter than all, just take them before collecting the gauntlets prize bubble!

Yeah.
I'll consider this, I don't know why I didn't inserted an invisible wall... maybe I just forgot to.

Not a pain for the thermo (that is already exploding), it is a pain to tweak!!!

Hope this helps, drop me a PM any time you want more feedback, I havent done a level recently so Im not looking for any F4F

This helps for sure, I will keep treasure of your suggestions in my future releases.
Thank you so much, hope to see a new level of yours someday.
