http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/images/community_spotlight.jpg The newest episode of our Community Spotlight has arrived! For those of you who are out of the loop, our Community Spotlight is a bimonthly collection of our favorite levels posted by our members. All of these levels have been posted on our site within the last 2 weeks, so you're getting a taste of some of the latest and greatest we have to offer. Click through for the full list. Enjoy! Attack Of The Flying DonkeysLordMagicPants/LordMagicPants http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1682&d=1257184212Attack of the flying donkeys is quite a long level but makes up by having simple and non repetitive game play. It has a mini story about a town having a race while being attacked by donkeys that fly with portal and castlevania references. Game play wise, lots of jumping, pushing and pulling, exploding donkeys, jet pack, bouncing up high, lots of enemies to kill, stickers and a small boss. Quirky! A word that perfectly sums up this level! From drunken beavers to flying donkeys (yes you read that right) this is a race across a canyon themed level filled to the brim with excellent puzzles and platforming. Its well designed, flows brilliantly and really looks the part. Plus, you just gotta love the donkeys!! If you liked Uncle Jalepeno from the story levels your gonna love this level. Irreverent, strange and fun all at once you can't help but laugh as you race through this level. Hilarious use of sticker switches, bizarre characters that are equal parts unusual and funny, and some good old fashioned platforming make this a memorable level as well. Great with a group as it can feel competitive and co-op at different points but it's always amusing. I am not a competitive guy, I could not care less about reaching a goal first or receiving a top spot in the high scores list....that said, I became a monster of sorts when I played through this level. The tension of helping each other out in some parts while still trying to stay ahead of your fellow sacks at the same time was something I rarely expierenced for myself in the world of Little Big Planet. This is without a doubt the most goofy fun I ever had in an LBP-race, you cannot help but laugh at the quirky and unusal characters LordMagicPants inserted into the mix. Very polished, very funny, a multiplayer must!!A few days ago Wex started a thread asking if it was getting harder for people to create ever more innovative levels. More of the replies argued that simply having fun should be the aim of most creators. Well LordMagicPants may have made this level before Wex put forward his question, but it is the perfect level to answer it. Just about the most fun you could possibly have while playing LBP all wrapped up in one fantastic level.AnanasMother-Misty/Mother-Misty http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r80/Zwollie/Eenfoto_50.jpg?t=1257703843Race, grab and jump your way through this action-packed level. Extra prizes for the adventurous ones! Have fun!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrw3AqdSJqk The first thing that hit me with this level, was the excellent use of the monster pack scale material, I never thought anyone would find a use for that other than fish. And after the first material wow, the level kept on impressing, with tight gameplay, wonderful obstacles and some great point combos to be had. Once I started it was to hard to stop, and thats the only bad thing I can think of saying about this level, to addictive. All kinds of colourful fun can be had in this great level. It's like collecting bubbles in a pinball machine sometimes with all the flipping, sliding and bouncing around. Great colour combinations and potential for bubble combos will have you coming back for more. I really enjoyed this one and I know I'll be back to play it again and again. It comes as no surprise that Mother-Misty is a graphic designer in real life, this is about as slick as it gets when it comes to levels. The colours are bright, the flow is amazing and every inch is filled with motion and activity, yet it never reaches the point where it feels cluttered or too busy. Throw in some solid platforming , a race-gate and a huge amount of bubbles and you end up with a dream of a level!! A word of caution for all you bubble junkies out there?you might need rehab after this one.More multi-coloured bubble collecting mayhem from Mother-Misty. If you're the type that finds yourself addicted to these kinds of levels, prepared to become obsessed for the next week or two! Another colourful, simple yet deep level from Mother-Misty. It's easy to breeze through admiring the scenery, but it's also an excellent one for all those score bubble freaks. Should you go slightly out of your way to grab some extra bubbles, or race to the end for the biggest race bonus? The bright, strong colours compliment the clever platforming and moving sections beautifully and show real thought. Make sure you bubble hunters don't miss this one. Fear And The Phantom TownTeebonesy/Teebonesy http://i796.photobucket.com/albums/yy247/CogSpartan/ldsHALLOW10.jpgIt's Halloween evening, and strange things are happening. Eerie, black-cloaked figures have been spotted around town. The news is reporting spooky sightings on the moon. And to top it off, there are rumors in town of an unusual, phantom village appearing in the distance. What is the purpose of this mysterious phantom town? And are there really things that live in the moon? More importantly, as this night of trick-or-treating gets more and more dangerous, will Zwollie, xKappax, Teebonesy, and Morgana survive the night? Teesbonesy, not prolific, but oh so good. This level is a how-to on style, content, visuals and design. The whole exploration and halloween theme is done to perfection and really shines throughout. Would you expect anyless from the creator of the sublime Movies? One of my favourite levels, and creators, no question! It's no secret I love this level. It won my Halloween Spooktacular level contest despite it's creators inclusion of my grisly demise?. so you know it's got to be an even more cool level than usual. Jaw dropping use of 3d glitch in alleyways and landscapes that go on and on will completely overwhelm you the first time you see them. Very fun secrets to figure out for extra points in the first half of the level make it a bit of a thinker as well. Imaginative story and very cool cinematic moments round out the highlights of this gem. It's one of the greats in my opinion.Teebonesy loves to bring a bit of the magic of cinema to the Little Big Screen. With this level, he makes great use of the 3D glitch and with lovingly created characters and environments you'll be impressed start to finish. The twisted mind that is Teebonesy brings another cinematic expierence to the world of LBP with one of the few Halloween levels actually worth checking out even on valentine?s day. Beautiful is one way to describe this level?weird beyond all reason is another one, this level swings you back and forth between comedic hights & dramatic lows while still keeping on important factor intact: fun!! Filled with adventure, filled with secrets and filled with laughter. Bring your kids, they will love it!! From the creator of the much acclaimed ?The Movies? and ?A Very Sony Christmas? comes another epic. Directed, produced and created by Teebonesy, this spectacularly crafted film *ahem* I mean level, gets a five star rating from the spotlight team! Except one member who gets killed?..The Perpetual Distance - (Chapter II) - The Abandoned CitadelKoRnDawwg/KoRnDawwg http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=826&pictureid=8006You and the gang are back for some more exploring - only this time within the City of Mayhl, which has been devastated by a sudden military coup. You are now set to journey through the ruins and reveal the truth behind this attack, whilst still in search of the next artefact...Is this Lizeth's doing? Continuing the great story introduced with part 1, the levels adds to the intrigue and turns the dial up a little in terms of challenge. With the some of the best use of the layer glitch I've seen, and some fantastic little sections, you must play the level. If you hav'nt played the firs tone then shame on you, go back and take them all in, you won't be disappointed. The Perpetual Distance series reaches its 2nd real level and it does not disappoint in any way. Building on the foundations of the previous entries, Korndawwg showcases & refines his skills once more, showering us with gorgeous visuals, a well written storyline and neat little gameplay concepts. His use of the layer glitch is always something to be seen and it really does add to the atmosphere as he perfectly illustrates an ancient, abandoned city. You can almost smell the enthousiasm when playing through one of his levels, highly recommended. All the visual splendor of the first level but with ramped up platforming the Perpetual Distance series is shaping up to be epic in terms of story, visuals and challenge. Wonderfully deep backgrounds thanks to the 3d glitch really give the level a sense of architectural space and good material choices add to the beauty. Gotta love Korndawwg's characters too.A strong story, excellent characters and now with added platforming ? what more could you want? Well, Korn has thrown on a few extras such as superb visuals and innovative gameplay. All of that makes this level definitely worth the at least one, if not more plays.Mars Attacks IV: Mysteries Of MarsGrantosUK/GruntosUK http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=540&pictureid=8290After rescuing General Cubbage from the depths or Mars, and being pursued by a strange and powerful beast, Sergeant Casper stumbles on ancient Roman Ruins from Earths past. Just what does the beast want with you? And why are there Roman ruins in the underbelly of Mars?? The search for General Cubbage continues in GrantosUk?s latest addition to his Mars saga. The contrast in gameplay and atmosphere introduced about halfway through the level is what I loved most about this particular entry. It starts off with the usual backtracking puzzle greatness before taking a dramatic turn and literally blowing the roof off this level with an intense action packed finale. Great stuff as expected. It's loaded with secrets, areas you'll crisscross and ponder how to get out of, beautifully designed and has incredible amounts of detail?.. oh yea, and it's on Mars. If you've been on Mars yourself you may not recognize these as sure fire signs that GrantosUK has been hard at work in create mode again. More quality platforming with a rich storyline and plenty of explosive action. If you haven't played this level series yet, what are you waiting for?GrantosUK takes his series in a slightly different direction with this level, as the criss-cross puzzle solving moves aside to allow for some frantic action sequences. Developing the story further, GrantosUK gives more information of the history and characters of his Mars universe and I can hardly wait for the series to continue.Well I?m running out of adjectives and nice things to say about this series of levels. It's by GrantosUK, it's set on Mars and it's epicawesomemegasupercool. So play it. Oh and Grant, it's nothing compared to my levels!Ghost of Sparta - The Depths of HadesKn0cked-0ut/Kn0cked-0ut http://i35.tinypic.com/289lgs3.jpgFind your way through the Depths of Hades. Suitable for multiplayer. It started off as a straightforward God of War tribute in the first level and has now grown its own legs to become something more while still keeping it firmly based in Greek mythology. Knocked-out impresses yet again, showcasing gorgeous & dark visuals with the characters being a real highlight in this department. Solid platforming and a bossfight you can only describe as ?frickin awesome? finish the job to make this a superb trip through the depths of the Greek underworld. Take in all the sights and perils of Hades in this dark themed level from KnOcked-Out. The ferryman crossing the river Styx at the intro is wonderfully animated and the boss battle is gruesome and very satisfying. Great caverns full of puzzles and platforming make the time in between very fun as well. Bring your timing, your going to need it.While the new PSP version of Little Big Planet may be taking players down under, Knocked-Out has a completely different idea of what down under actually is. A wonderfully realised version of Hades, from the superb opening intro to the climactic boss battle, this level stays true to both LBP and the God of War series.Take to the underworld for this amazing new level in the Ghost of Sparta series. Returning is the God of War style visuals and fighting, and it's joined by even more platforming, bubble collecting, secrets and characters. However the best part about his level is the boss fight, which is innovative and stylish whilst still remaining a challenge. CommentsICE AGE : ExtinctionFaith_rip/Faith_rip http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=943&pictureid=8429Ice Age is a survival horrors in a apocalyptic ice age. You play a man who wakes up without memories in an empty hospital, and faced with two dilemmas: what happened to him ?... And what happened to the rest of the world ?... Explore an apocalyptic world and overcome the obstacles on your way. Don't let the title fool you, there are no prehistoric squirrels chasing acorns in this level. What you do get instead of that is a chilling & mysterious tale set in an apocalyptic world somewhere in the not too distant future. It displays some of the best visuals I've ever laid eyes on in LBP, simply oozing with atmosphere making you wish you were actually there, living the expierence. Higly recommended to be played and most importantly seen by all. I don't want the world to end but if looks this good I might just stick around afterwords to check it out if it's anything like this level. A master craftsman of atmosphere Faith_rip stunned me with this level in terms of lighting and camera work. Pale, foggy, practically ghostly feeling at times it's a visual tour de force of how to get mood across when building a level. Savagely destroyed buildings and twisted metal seem to emerge from the mists like ghosts and the challenge comes from how to get to the next even more breathtakingly beautiful section. Liberal use of 3D glitched backgrounds and some downright excellent building design round out the levels best qualities. A must play for creators and visual level junkies.I went into this level expecting Manfred the mammoth and Sid the Sloth. So imagine my surprise when I found a bleak, survivor horror style level. Brilliantly timed events throughout add a cinematic feel and more importantly; tension. If you're a fan of the scary stuff, it's a must play.Cave EscapeMiglioshin/Miglioshin http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r80/Zwollie/Eenfoto_51.jpg?t=1257957666Sackboy has discovered a secret cavet to explore, when suddenly... This is my newest project, the aim is very simple: you have to find a way to exit from the same way you entered. To not spoil very much I can say that there are several platforming challenges and some interesting contraptions I made. 4 times?4 times before I was able to finish this level but boy, it was so worth it!! Considering us all spoiled, Miglioshin strikes a daring move and brings back an old favourite: the limited checkpoints. I respect and salute this return as it really increases the challenge in this puzzle filled world of backtracking. It might take a while before you reach the scoreboard but trust me, when you do, you will feel like a god!! Silhouette styling with unapologetic challenges define this long level by Miglioshin. The exploration of the cave takes you all over the level and back again as you try and make your way out. Just when you think you know what your doing Migloshin shakes it up with unexpected color shifts, evolving challenges, and surprises you'll need to sort out to make it out. Experienced players will appreciate both the length of the level and the challenge it provides. Make a commitment to get to the scoreboard if taking this one on.I've loved all of Miglioshins level so far, so I had no trepidations going into this level. And let me tell you, it did'nt dissapoint in one way, its fantastic, from the visuals, to the design, to the platforming. I loved the layer glitch, very understated but so, so effective in its impact to the level. A must play! Some may say that the silhouette style is a thing of the past ? an old device used for bad visuals. However looking at this level may change those minds ? as this level looks superb. Up, down, left, right, left, down, up, round and round the level you go, and yet somehow it remains fresh and challenging thanks to Miglioshin?s immense planning and clever LBP brain. Definitely a must play. All Systems GoEviLPaNda/EviLPaNda http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=862&pictureid=8445All systems go, places the player into an abstract computer chip. Players race the clock for their scores over hybrid obstacles. I've been trying to figure something out for a while now and with this newest level I think I've finally got it?EviLPaNda is a robot!! Surely he must be, how else could he produce such brilliant levels at such a fast pace? How else could he keep bringing us new & original platforming elements that ?wow? you at every turn? No mortal can do this!! Setting the level inside a beautifully rendered, abstract computer chip is what gave it away. I know who you are now!! The game is up!! Well, perhaps you can make us just one more level, maybe two, before we call the proper authorities. These abstract gems seem to roll out at a record pace from creator EviLPaNda. The latest of his dizzying race levels is a neon green spiked electric maze of gravitational mayhem accented with high tech looking motifs. I got the feeling it was a 3 dimensional abstraction of an electronics circuit board with whirling sponges, tipsy platforms and wild rotating wheels that slide diagonally across the monochromatic race course. Great replay factor and fun round out the qualities of yet another great level from this abstract level building specialist. And EvilPanda does it again. It's just not plausible that one person can create such high quality levels at such an amazing speed. Unless he?s bald and irish ? yeah I?m looking at you Wex! But this level is another masterpiece, the circuit stylings look and feel so right and the platforming and challenges are still obviously LBP. Congratulations on yet another spotlight EvilPanda! No Time for Dinosaursgibolas/gibolas http://i.imgur.com/2KYZi.jpg time travel experiment gone wrong has sent you back to the time of the dinosaurs! Worse yet, parts of the time machine are missing! Can you find all the missing parts or will you be dinofood? Meet different dinosaurs, some friendly, some not! Traverse a volcano, then fight your way down rapids using a fallen log as a raft! Collect all the missing parts to the time machine to get a point bonus at the end. It's been months in the making, I hope you enjoy! Prehistoric platforming fraught with dinosaurs and danger await players in this cute level by gibolas. Great variety in platforming and obstacles all in a lush, dense rain rain forrest environment. Wonderful dinosaur designs and plants make it visually a treat. There are lots of dinosaur themed levels in LBP and this one can hold it's own for fun and creative use of materials. This fun take on what you to be an already done-to-death genre is fresh as it is fun. Excellent dinosaur models, good looking scenery and some nice little moments (look for the dinosaurs that whack you into the air with their tails) separate this level from the crowd.I loved the design, detail and dinosaurs in this, and thats three important D's in this type of level. The layer work is excellent, its colourful and a very nice challenge to, using a variety of different beasts to challenge your fingers. I don't doubt you will enjoy it. | 2009-11-15 03:02:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |

I need to try that Ice Age one. | 2009-11-15 03:40:00 Author: Ricano Posts: 434 |
What you do get instead of that is a chilling & mysterious tale set in an apocalyptic world somewhere in the distant future. Distant future? The first part of the ICE AGE series I recall struck me as rather contemporary - unless I missed something. | 2009-11-15 03:41:00 Author: Jagrevi Posts: 1154 |

Yay, first time I've played most of these level before they get spotlighted. Liked them all, but I died too often in the Cave Escape one. (Am not used to non-unlimited checkpoints anymore.^.^) | 2009-11-15 09:54:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
Congratulations to everybody! Even if I've already played most of these, there are one or two that I'm gonna give a play now! Oh, and it's nice to see "No time for dinosaurs" in there; I thought that it was an excellent level that just needed a bit more attention from this community - but now this is solved! And I'll never get tired of repeating this: great job, spotlight team. The fact that you keep those spotlights coming out reallys helps LBPC to raise the bar even more when it comes to level creating! | 2009-11-15 10:53:00 Author: Keldur Posts: 628 |
Distant future? The first part of the ICE AGE series I recall struck me as rather contemporary - unless I missed something. Correct, as I meant it to say not too distant future, I'll see if it can still be fixed. | 2009-11-15 10:53:00 Author: Zwollie Posts: 2173 |

Another amazing spotlight!! Congratulations to all the creators for some really great levels!! ...I even played most of these for once so I concur that these are some great choices. Again, my wholehearted thanks to the incredible spotlight team. You all rock!!! Sigh. I doubt it, it was made days ago. So much unfairness in things. =O there's a time limit? If not though I will Keep trying! I think it hasn't been noticed enough. Or the site owners just dislike it? =( I'd like to know why. Since NONE of my levels have ever made it. But I'll still try with this level! | 2009-11-16 00:30:00 Author: Noroibito Posts: 211 |
Every two weeks there's a spoylight. If it didn't make the cut this time it'll nevr get spotlighted. Well, great that you'll keep trying | 2009-11-16 00:37:00 Author: Incinerator22 Posts: 3251 |
Wooh! My first post in a few weeks. I love the levels, really gotta try that Ice Age one. Out of the levels I played, my favorite was the one by Teebonesy, just cause if the fact he used the 3D level tool very nicely. Love levels that use the 3D tool really well. | 2009-11-16 01:34:00 Author: srgt_poptart Posts: 425 |

wow, I've been missing out on things... happening! I'm not terribly active lately, because I'm in the middle of a big move. It's lovely to pop in to such good news. To everyone who's thanking the spotlight team for their hard work... I'm pretty sure there's actually no such thing as a "spotlight team", I think that the way I imagine it happening is the way it actually is - that is, every couple of weeks the wind blows a bit of fairy dust from the fairy flowers on the hill behind LBPC (it's located in a locked thread in a hidden forum somewhere). This fairy dust gets all over the Level Showcase forum and in a few days, a Spotlight just spontaneously pops out of the toaster, all finished and shiny. If this doesn't end up being the case, frankly I will be SHOCKED. Also, I've actually already played most of these levels, which is a first! I will make it an effort to play the remaining ones the next time I'm on. I love the spotlight, it really is like waking up to a pretty, wrapped box of candy. Thanks very much to everyone - including the chaos/wind/fairy dust that made it happen. | 2009-11-16 06:18:00 Author: Teebonesy Posts: 1937 |
