LBPC Survivor

Archive: 17 posts

I'm looking to run a game of Survivor in Little Big Planet. I want to stick as close to the regular format as possible - teams face off in a challenge, losing team votes someone off, repeat. In the case of this game, the challenges would be something in game, voting will probably be on the forums. Winner gets a TBD amount of XP and maybe a $5.99 or less PSN game.

I've already got most of this planned out, but if anyone has any suggestions or any other way they'd like to help, let me know. Most importantly of all, I need to see if there's anyone here who would be interested in playing.

no no double time let him explain, How would this work? You create a level we have to get the highest score? or will it be create based?2009-11-15 20:43:00

From what I understand, there would be two teams, and we'd have various challenges we must partake in- having to achieve a high score in a specially made level, making the best of a certain object- and then every so often the person who is doing the elast is kicked out.

Sounds like a decent idea, albeit quite competitive for LBP in my opinion... ah well D: mabbe

I think this concept is cool. But first

* You need some good survival challenges or highscore levels. A whole bunch actually, and they have to be extremly good and they have to last forever to. So we can compeat.

* We are more interested in LBP skills then social skills. Have a number of players each round and then the bottom players will get kicked out of the competition.

Perhaps it would have been a good idea to first. Have a survival challenge contest ? And then the top 5 or 3 will become the levels were the survivors compeat in ?

Sorry about taking a while to respond.

Here's more or less how I think things are going to go:

I want to start by getting the 16 players. From there, I'll divide the group into two teams of eight. Every 2-3 days, there will be a challenge for the teams to compete in. Since there is the LBP maxes at four players, I've thought up some different ways to get a decent team vs. team feel. The losing team in each challenge will have to vote somebody off of their team.

Teams will merge and begin competing individually once a good chunk of players are eliminated. When it gets down to the last two, the 7 players most recently eliminated will vote for who they want to be the winner.

There will be survival challenges and point challenges. As it stands right now, I'll probably split between making some and taking some of the cooler community levels. I'd love to do another contest to see the best sort of Survivor themed survival levels that people could make for this, but with exams and the holidays coming up, I figured that if I wait for the first contest to end, people won't end up with enough time to invest in Survivor.

I do plan on having some challenges not specifically be who gets the most points, or who lasts the longest in the flaming wheel of death. RockSauron seemed to be on the right track with the sort of things I'm working on. I know some people might like something that sticks to racing and points and all that, but you can find that with just about any LBP contest out there that isn't about creating something.

This could end up being a purely social competition. I hope it doesn't happen, but the weakest LBP player and creator could make it all way to the end based on their interactions with the group.

I've already bought the Give XP item from the shop. I plan on opening the official thread in community levels in about a week or so... It all depends on getting players.

So does anybody think that they'd want to play? Any ideas on some good platformers, puzzlers, survival levels? Any other thoughts or suggestions?

I'd love to do it, but I'm not usually available on weekdays.... I do have a king of the hill level I'm working on for when it comes down to the final 4 if you want. I could maybe help keep track of things. (I really wanna participate in this.)2009-11-17 02:48:00

I'm not sure yet. I'm skeptical of joining anything that isn't related to purely skill.

Also, I think it would be better if you chose the levels instead of asking others, because we could easily choose levels that are our strong point in hopes that you'll choose it as one of the levels.

I'm still not sure. I want to join, then again I usually don't join any competition unless it's purely skill based. I'll have to think about it. ^_^

Okay, I might be sold. I might do it. Lol!

But first I would have to hear exactly how this is going to work, because as of now it sounds like even yourself is uncertain of how this might work. Right now it's just ideas floating around.

Once you have the official final rules and how this will work down, then I will know. ^_^

So I'm not saying no.
