New LBP PSP videos from the past week

Archive: 31 posts

With more and more early copies of LBP PSP floating around, a few new videos have popped up on YouTube in the past week. Here's a couple good ones I found:

Little Big Planet psp Gameplay (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qA37R6Ax2o)
This is a high quality video that shows a full play-through of the first two levels of the game with loading times and other fluff edited out. There's a lot of new stuff to be seen (and heard) in the second level - it starts at the 4:24 mark if you want to skip ahead.

My First Little Big Planet Map (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epvV3-efnvw)
This is a good quality video that shows someone playing through a level they put together. The level itself is terrible (my apologies if it's anyone here) and the commentary is mostly lame, but you can see some interesting things here. Most notably are some smoothed/rounded shapes (that we weren't 100% sure were possible) as well as some fire effects. Other things I noticed were a skeleton sackboy costume and a bottle cork game-provided object. If you skip to 3:11 you can see the My Moon interface, as well as information clearly showing the level's file size (160kb).

Looks like I ain't the only one lookin around I remember those too (and noticed just about the same things)

I found another video (even though its the 1st level) but it shows a couple other things (bad things mostly) if you look closley at the point where the star sticker switch is in the video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e36JgKq8R3g

1. No decorations
2. Can't sticker yourself
3. No snapshot function

Another thing i found out is the file size (for downloading the game off the store) is going to be 1.2 GB...ouch, is there a better way to download it than by the PSP?

Oh and with the 1st youtube vid you posted, I so hope we can you use that song in our levels!

Ah, I missed that one. Too bad about decorations, but they do often take up a lot of thermo on the PS3 version so I understand - large polygon count for some of them. As for the sticker switch part, I can't tell from that vid alone if you can or can't sticker yourself... but I'll assume not. Bummer about no snapshots. Unless.... What if he just hadn't unlocked it yet?

I never download anything directly to my PSP because it takes too long. The best way is just to use your PS3 to do it and then copy it over to your PSP - super easy to do and much faster. Alternately, you can use Media Manager on your PC and transfer the file that way, but because I know you have a PS3 that would be just silly.

You got to look realy close at when he tries to put those stickers on that star switch, when its over his sack, the sticker is still red, as in you can't place it there.

And i can't believe I never though of using my faster PS3 to download it!

Well I guess there's always the possibility of future patches

Yep, PS3 download works like a charm. After downloading, you'll need to be signed onto PSN on your PS3 in order to copy the file to your PSP, and of course you need a USB cable as well - the one you use to charge your controller(s) will work for everything but a PSP Go.2009-11-12 21:08:00

Wow now this has gotten me a little excited.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZK-FUoeTZ18&translated=1 (you might want to mute due to a foregin guy speaking the entire time)

Look at the one of the costume pieces at 2:25! My King shall live on even in the PSP version! Huzzah!! Now everyone can wear a crown!

the footage of the cave of dreams level looks amazing. i hope they patch in all the ps3 stuff(like being able to make holes, paint with any shape and not to a grid and snapshot tool) if they can.2009-11-12 22:00:00

Oh i think i saw a video where you can actually make stuff without the grid. Might not be 100% on it but hang on I'll look for it.

EDIT:

Found it! Look here at 0:35

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeAqud81H4A

When he picks an object the brushes category, the grid is on . But when he chooses something in the Shapes category, the grid is off. and it shows on the menu at the bottom you can size it. (but who knows if you can "draw" with it)

Great vid, but yeah funboy Edik needs to be quiet.

You can also clearly see that the corner editor is not on a grid. Either the grid was turned off or that tool doesn't use one.... Either way, we're free to make shapes that are just as detailed as the PS3 ones.

Wait, here's another:
Great Wall of China part 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiK2TFEuiPg)

And another:
Great Wall of China part 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CC2-JJHvg4I)

More!
Dragon chase sequence (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_y25hXJgQU4)
"Rickshaw rates are double when being chased." LOL!

Edit: In another low-quality video I was able to make out the list of levels from the Down Under area:
-Walkabout
-Gift of the Grab
-Didgerido Didgeridon't
-Dreamtime
-Shear Madness (survival challenge)

There's also one more survival challenge that stems from Gift of the Grab, but I can't make out the title.

Interesting thanks. I haven't had chance to look right through them yet because they're taking ages to buffer and I'm off to bed now but the few snippets I've seen look cool.

I think the fire effect is better than the PS3 version and it looks like sackboy has some cool new moves too. I like the backflip in particular.

You notice the blue robed guy in the second level that keeps on showing up? I think he appears in other levels. Maybe he will be like the Collector.2009-11-13 01:44:00

I was also watching the first video that JKthree posted, and I can't believe I didn't notice this before. At the 3 second mark you can clearly see Sackboy icons on the PSP's XMB. And then of course there's the wallpaper, which is awesome:

LBP theme FTW!!!

I think that theme was an unofficial one, one available for CFW.

But anyway I found someone who's going to record all the levels and show off all the costumes and create mode! (Right now he only has a bit, but he says he's going to be recording a lot over the weekend)

Well, heck. That just shows you how much I know about CFW. I just never felt like bricking my PSP, so I never got into it. That and the whole piracy thing.

Nice quality vids - can't wait to see more. Thanks for the link.

Speaking of CFW, Just about every dang new LBP PSP vid kinda sets me off since 95% of the time its from a pirated copy, hurting this great franchise. Even if they are getting left out from no online and DLC.

I started like 2 arguments on the internet on OFW vs CFW, and i don't think that its going to end anytime soon These last few days are going to drive me nuts!

Ah, but there's the genius in the "play create share" genre. On a CFW version there's no share, which effectively means no create (or no point to it), and no community levels to play. By my math that's only 17% of the game, which really is nothing more than a long demo. Even for someone who is morally bankrupt, it's just not worth the trouble.2009-11-14 04:56:00

Even with me saying that the argument goes on. Them saying they can bypass this by various methods (though I call them theories cause they are countered)

Well I think i'll just say one more thing (so we don't go off topic on a Firmwares)

Don't go to Gamefaqs LBP PSP board, i was expecting it to be better there since there won't be a use for H4H, well now its a Firmware war there, and i basically started it

erm is it just me or does anyone else seem unimpressed... the vids are good but cambridege cant make levels and every vid with user created levels has been made by someone with half an eye.

I just want someone like Gevurah too show us how its done and tell us that LBP PSP doesn't lose any of the magic, but until i get the game wich will probably be for christmas because thats when i'm getting my new psp, (If you haven't heard me say 1000 times mine is broke) i wont know properly.

Don't bash CFW until you try it.

And seriously, don't worry about bricking, you'd have to screw up pretty badly to do any damage...like...deleting everything in the flash memory. And even then you can easily recover it.

/offtopic

The second video brings back memories of the good old days

I have enough money to buy any game I want, so there is absolutely no reason for me to use CFW (not that I ever wanted to, anyway). One other thing that bugs me about CFW (besides the piracy thing) is that eventually people will use it to mod and cheat on the game. It is like that Star Wars Battlefront game that came out for the PSP a while ago. When it first launched the multiplayer was fun online. Now, you can't get into a game without someone running around who is invincible and can kill everyone on the map with a single shot and can pass through walls just so their name can be seen on some stupid leaderboard. I am not worried about this happening on LBP since it has no multiplayer, but who wants to bet that eventually, if left unchecked, you will see the same *#@!'s name on the top of every leaderboard.

Oh, and I may be a bit late in posting this, but if you are going to download it from the PlayStation Store, then I recomend using Media Go. When I use it, it downloads much faster than when I download using the PS3 and the PSP.

If you think CFW is just for downloading games then you obviously know nothing about it.
Ironically enough, I'm downloading LBP PSP to my phat now...just to give it a try. Won't be able to play it properly because the analog stick is horribly broken, but it'll keep me occupied while I wait for the official release

I know that CFW can be used for different things (some of it not illegal), but I don't really care about those things either. I only use my PSP to play games.

I was also only using the type of CFW that was in context with the discussion.

A quality user-made level takes at least 100 hours, so it's just way too early to expect something that will wow you at this point. If we're still seeing crap levels in 3 months then I'll agree with you.2009-11-14 16:39:00

We should find some good stuff, 1 of us here is bound to make somthing really good. I'm probably not going to make much till the semester is over. I'm probably not going to record any PSP levels for awhile either, unless i find something interesting (and when i replicate my little king and maybe queen costume)2009-11-14 16:46:00

Creating is awkward when your analog stick refuses to go to the right :S
So I'll only be able to do it through RemoteJoy until Friday. But heyho, I'll give it a go.

I'll get some videos recorded as well, maybez.

Actually there is a way for CFW users to get Community levels. I actually HAD a hacked psp SLIM 2000 but it broke on me. Anyways, they use FullMoon. People post thier created levels on websites and you can download them. But I'm away from the hacked world now... I'm going to get the PSPGo (WHITE) Bundle with LBP PSP, RaC: SM, and some SOCOM game. It's gonna be AWSOME! 2010-07-20 19:48:00

Don't post in old topics please. This is just gonna reignite the firmware war, Those fullmoon guys basically trolled over here when i was expressing my concerns on piracy ruining the chances for patches and DLC earlier this year

And Fullmoon doesn't work anymore ever since 1.03 (or 1.04 i forget). It was like a peace treaty. They stay on their side with version 1.02 offline, sharing by files, while we stay on ours with the latest version online sharing by server. With neither side being able to cross over.

I wouldn't say all the FullMoon people "trolled" over here. Some of them are actually very nice people *points to B3*.

It's just that they reacted a bit more aggressively then others.

Oh, and I'm going to ask a mod to lock this thread before we do have another war on our hands.

Peace

Is anyone else thinking: irony!

Anyway, now I'm sort of glad I didn't find this site for a few months after I got the game.
