Beginner Pack Overview

The Beginner Pack is a pack of logic tools designed for Creators who are unfamiliar with logic and its nuances. Logic can be a difficult thing to understand, so we've specifically designed this pack to help those who are having trouble understanding what logic is and how it works. To play the Beginner Pack, simply search @LogicPack on the LittleBigPlanet servers and navigate to the Beginner Pack level.

Logic Tools
The Beginner Pack Vault, which is the level in which you can collect the logic we're offering, includes these five logic tools:

Permanent switch

Forces something to remain in a certain state permanently.

OR switch

Allows two different inputs* to trigger the same output*.

AND switch

Requires two (or more) inputs to be active before the output activates as well.

Delay switch

Creates a configurable delay between the activation of an input and the activation of an output.

Switcher

Allows one input to switch between two outputs.

*An "input" is something that, when activated, triggers an output. An "output" is the event that occurs when the input is activated. For example, if you have a two-way switch connected to an LED light, the input would be the two-way switch, and the output would be the "turning-on" of the light. Once the input is activated, the output occurs - in this case, once the 2-way switch is activated, the LED turns on.

Tutorials
Along with the main Pack and the Vault, the Beginner Pack has three in-depth tutorials for you to dive into. They are as follows:
- Tutorial 1.1 - Your First Logic Network (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=18338)

- Tutorial 1.2 - Coordinating a Landslide (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=18337)

- Tutorial 1.3 - Designing a Basic Elevator (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=18336)

These tutorials are involving, requiring anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour or more of dedicated playtime to complete them. If you get stuck at any point during a particular tutorial, each one also has a copyable (yes, copyable!) companion level published on the LogicPack account, allowing you to copy it to your moon and pick it apart if you need to.

Too bad this wasn't made earlier. This would've won my vote for best level in LBP!

Ha! How little they know I'm just doing for the rep! But no, really, great levels, I was 100% serious ;D

I'm pretty sure they were out before at the same time as the vote for the best level thread - I nearly voted for:

LogicPack: Beginner Pack
LogicPack: Intermediate Pack
LogicPack: Advanced Pack.

See...I've tried, but I can't rewire a different kind of switch to the and switch i ripped from the vault...the pistons are too small. I want to use a grabbable switch instead...anything I'm missing?

Edit: I fixed it! I didn't have something set to pause, i think!

Just saying this to anyone who keeps asking;

Play the Logic Pack (this is what this thread is about), and try hard to understand it! It will almost certainly make sense to you and help you out with logic.

GREAT! Great, great, great, great!!!! These tutorials and the logic caps really made a HUGE difference for me! I just redid all my freaking elevators because I never thought of using any type of logic in them and, of course, they had issues.

Wow, what a difference! THANKS SO MUCH!!

Also, to those who made these, there is a duplicator out there releasing these packs under the name @LogicPacks (with an 's' at the end). Not sure it's a big deal, but the names they are releasing them under are exactly the same.

Hey, firstly, thanks for doing levels explaining Logic for people at different skill levels. I was playing through the first Beginner earlier, and I got up to the part where you have to get the cube across two platforms. At first the cube wasn't there, so I hit the switch. No cube came out. Went out of the level came back, same thing. Any help?2010-06-23 09:20:00

Ahhhh crap I meant to look at that last night. Only thing that springs to mind was that there is an issue whereby the button would not trigger the emitter, if you hit it glancing rather than with a full jump. At one point this would make a sound even though there was no emitting although I think we fixed the sound issue. We should probably swap out the OR gate to have a key emitter on the button TBH as that would solve that issue and improve the section ever-so-slightly.

Doesn't really strike me as being the likely cause of this though, you really have to just glance the button to make it fail

@RSQVIper, I'm pretty sure we were aware of that guy. I shouldn't worry about it IIRC he's only got the vault levels, and in fairness they don't exactly stnd out so much without the showcase levels and tutorials. But thanks for the heads up anyway

If I remember correctly, the sound is tied into the same trigger as the emitter. That was not always the case, but I fixed it prior to release. My prediction: the level state wasn't properly loaded - I can't even guess at what the cause of that would be. I've had that happen once before in jump_button's "Up, Up, and Away in Skytown" level. Even playing through it again gave me the same issues. I had to come back to it at a later time to get it to work. It too was an emitter issue.

Edit; I did look at a few days back. It worked exactly as it was supposed to. Not sure where the malfunction occurred.

Just because you do not understand logic or a certain part of creating, does not mean you can't make your levels. Because we can now do online create, you can work with a friend to help make up for certain level creating skills you have trouble with. For example, ObsoleteXeo and myself are working on a level. I'm great at making logic and platforming or coming up with various solutions and logic, while he is great with artistic abilities, asthetics and general feeling to levels. So we work well together and will hopefully make a great level. (If we ever finish it.)2010-07-14 19:06:00

All levels are under "LogicPack" not "logic pack" or "LogicPacks". You may be looking at something entirely different, as the LogicPack doesn't have any locks that I know of.

I created the Logic Pack for PSP. It was pass coded so that testers could get in whereas the public wouldn't. it just meant we could test it before releasing it. It's been finished now, so find it on the PSP community moon.
Sorry if this caused any confusion :S

(If you still have the old version saved, and you want to see what it looked like under development, the code was 2929)

This is quite easy logic, comparing what you can get with advanced programming languages, so simple yet so complex this is a masterstroke on MM's part.2010-12-31 21:02:00

Mm had nothing to do with it, It was facilitated by (Our Glorious Admin) ConfusedCartman and was developed by (In no particular order) Mrsupercomputwr, RTM223, CCubbage and Comphermc, Mm only helped advertise it by putting it on their blog.

I hope that's cleared up any confusion.

I was recommended by a friend to try this so called "logic pack" made from LittleBigPlanetCentral as a gift to the community, surprisingly I found every single object and logic element very useful and time-saving, even though I had almost all the objects they offered already saved on my "my objects" page, I replaced them with the ones in the level because they were a lot more organized and, of course, more presentable to the players of the levels in which I would place the logic pieces.
I think you should include a randomizer, I had sort of a hard time to find how to make one, and if you were to update it, it would be so much cooler

I remember the randomizer. I had to make one for you. xD
Anyway, its pretty simple. Just put a 1X1 (Small grid) sized cardboard thin piece, then put a bigger dark matter hollow square, (make sure cardboard is in center.), then cut out one side of the square, and connect the Csquare to the DM, via elastic to the other three sides. Then make a thick layer square of DM, and put a Magnetic key switch on it, and put a magnetic key on the cardboard. Adjust the elastic, and M key to work.
