Outrun Velocity - Insane Car Adventure!Tanuki75 Outrun the clock racing your chibi-style Ferrari through outrageous landscapes, in a bid to impress your painfully attractive but insane girlfriend. all Beginning your drive in Florida, you'll soon find yourself wakeboarding through Darkest Peru, racing kangaroos in the outback and jumping the Great Wall of China before returning home. Other surprises wait for you though, making the expedition not as straight forward as it sounds. | 2009-11-09 16:55:00 Author: Tanuki75 Posts: 172 |
This sounds like a lot of fun. I'll be sure to give this a try this evening. I'll be sure to post my comments in the LBP Community. | 2009-11-09 17:09:00 Author: pantspantspants Posts: 189 |
Woohoo! I'm really glad you've emerged from the shadows and decided to post this in the Showcase. I've played this level quite a few times, and it's an absolute blast. The level itself can be played as an out-and-out race level, but that would be a shame as you could miss all those semi-secret bits and subtle humour. Did I say humour? Understatement of the year! I'm sure I'm right in saying it's the first level on LBP that shows Tails 'Miles' Prower flying passed your car, only to subsequently get snatched by a... well, I'll not give it away! Very funny! I also hope that non-UK players will recognise a certain legendary 'craft' used by a certain Doctor. Wonderful stuff! The bonuses to collect add more replay value (I didn't manage to get them all), and the sheer fun on show here is a joy to play. Overall, very enjoyable, and laughter-inducing in a lot of places. But, oh, that darn woman! She needs a good dose of bombing! Grr! Well done | 2009-11-09 18:01:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |
This is the most fun I've had holding on for dear life since Super Ultra Highway Battle X. Thanks for that. | 2009-11-10 04:56:00 Author: coyote_blue Posts: 422 |
Ha,this is great! The only racing level I've ever hearted, made me laugh a whole bunch of times. You did a fantastic job of taking the driving genre and squishing it through the LBP blender. As an aside, yet another great level getting an undeserved rating. What's going on lately?? | 2009-11-10 11:15:00 Author: julesyjules Posts: 1156 |
I don't know about that either, julesy. TBH, if I could sort the search pages to find all the 4-star levels, that's what I'd do. Seems like taking risks, forcing players to read, or making something that requires contemplation guarantees that SOMEONE will be jealous or angry enough to 1-star you. I'd like to come back here in a few weeks. It always recharges my irony batteries to see a level like this tagged "Speedy" and "Slow" simultaneously...and it probably will be. And one last thing: Jumping the Great Wall = EPIC. | 2009-11-10 13:48:00 Author: coyote_blue Posts: 422 |
Your outrun rules. Anytime my pod has people in it. Outrun is on the list to play. Looking forward to seeing more Ouruns! I used to play outrun on snes at friends while drinking. Super this series. Thanks for making them, and being loyal to the original game. | 2009-11-10 15:21:00 Author: fijski8 Posts: 159 |
I just played and had fun with this, in solo mode. Though I can complain that some bonuses are out of my reach, but I didn't get used enough with the boost system... actually... I didn't get it at all in spite of my tries. I really appreciated the level, expecially the part with the truck and the very ending which I don't mention, so I don't spoil the surprise. So, I have no negatives to stress out. +bonus system +nice landscapes +some great contraptions +variety of landscapes Rated 5 and hearted for future plays Very well done. Hey its great getting all this feedback and finding out about levels and so forth. Thanks for trying it pantspantspants (well the old prequel) - MrsSB's support is brilliant - JulesyJules I'm chuffed to bits you enjoyed it, the humour and genius gameplay mechanics in your levels keeps me hooked - I've yet to play all the Lone Ninja series CoyoteBlue, but I have seen some epic and funny boss fights you made! Corking stuff! fijski8, really glad you enjoyed Outrun, I want a rich game for everyone and Outruns unpopularity I suspect is down to the skill required to play it... Why create something where you hold R1 for 3 minutes while you wait for the level to end? Not much replay value or fun for your friends... Thanks again peeps! | 2009-11-10 17:06:00 Author: Tanuki75 Posts: 172 |
I had a chance to play this fun filled racer a few times now. If your into fast cars, hot babes and extreme stunts, while taking in scenery from all four corners of the world, Outrun Velocity is for you. This level is a well thought out racer with breaks of platforming, that take vehicle levels to a whole new dimension. With that said there are a lot of funny happening along the way as well. Be sure to check this one out! 5/5 | 2009-11-11 06:09:00 Author: EviLPaNda Posts: 51 |
I liked this but I failed at one point and couldn't finish. | 2009-11-11 11:50:00 Author: BasketSnake Posts: 2391 |
Thanks again for your thoughts folks, I'm going to check out the F4F levels this weekend! There has been critism about dying in this level and not being able to go further, but my recent update has fixed that problem, as well as the 'boost feature' description which is more about controlling the cars' torque (just by releasing and rehitting R1 for short bursts of speed) | 2009-11-12 14:26:00 Author: Tanuki75 Posts: 172 |
