Save/Backup question

Archive: 8 posts

Okay, I am aware of publishing to backup a saved level, but there is something specific I need to know as I spent all day and night yesterday working on a level only for none of my work to save. I was so upset last night I had a nervous breakdown.

The only reason I didn't publish to back it up is because there is practically nothing in my profile except 3 or 4 costumes, and around 8 levels on moon. That's it.

Now the problem is, since profile is too large (which I dont see how it is), I'll have no choice but to delete one of the levels on my moon that I've worked on.

Let's say my profile is too large, but I go into a level on moon to work on it, then save, I exit the level and then reenter and my work is still there. That's because the game doesn't actually save or delete anything until you quit the game and get back on.

So my question is, if I work on a level while profile is too large, then exit POD and publish it locked, then quit game and restart, will everything I saved in moon version while profile was too large be in the published version, because I know the moon stuff wont be there.

So technically, can I publish to back up data of stuff I worked on while profile is too large? And will it be there after restarting game? I know the moon stuff wont be there. I hope this doesn't sound confusing.

This is what I know . . .

--Even if profile is to large to save, everything still seems to save until you quit game.

--You can publish to save and back up data.

--If you work on anything while profile is too large, it will be gone once you quit game and restart.

What I don't know . . .

--Will stuff I worked on while profile being too large to save save if in the published version if I publish?

Oh my 'Nstilhettos. So sorry to hear that. Poor you. I know exactly what you're going through. My profile got corrupted last month and not only did I lose all my costumes, stickers, photos, etc... I also lost the 4 levels that I had created on my moon.

Don't be too upset. And I hope you receive the help/advice you need.

The solution is this, after you publish, delete the moon one that you have published BUT before you delete it, make sure that when you play your locked, it does not say failed to load whenever you try it. Then after you have checked it and it's successful, go ahead and delete the moon one and have no worries. Now when you decide to add stuff, copy to your moon and edit. When done, go to pod and re enter the moon one and PLAY it. Make sure that it does not say corrupt or failed to load on a few tries. If it's good, publish and play the published one. If that's good, delete the moon one.

Repeat all as necessary. This is what I do all the time. GL

Okay thanks! ^_^

I also just realized I could just delete the levels that are not finished yet since they are published.

As far as I know it does save when you quit your level or create mode entirely, not when you quit the game. The game might actually "quick save" and when you quit the game it could "hard save" but if your profile is full I'm sure they won't let you quick save anyways. The other day I was making stuff and then I hit save and did receive the "profile is full" message. The game told me I couldn't save. I didn't take the risk of losing something, I deleted some objects and then I could save.

If your profile is getting too large too often, delete levels that are already publish or transfer them into another PSN account to benefit from another full profile space.

I use to think that too, but the temporary save works even if profile is too full. You can even test it yourself by making blank levels and putting something in them and saving just for the purpose of a test. So if you're in the blank level and get the profile too large message, add something to level and save, then exit back to your pod completely, then return to moon and enter level the changes will still be there. It's only when you quit the game will the stuff truly be gone if profile was too large. That's when the game hard saves.

Also, you wont always get the profile too large message when it's too large. I'm not sure if that's a glitch or not.

Ok, this reinforce my guess that the game does quicksave only and hard saves when you quit the game at least. However, publishing something that has just been "quicksaved" should work.

Some people still don't get the message for profile full once in a while. I wouldn't be surprised that some people simply don't get it at all. It does seems there is a bug with the message.

Actually, the game attempts to hard-save quite often. Everytime you do either enter the pod or a level or activate (or respawn at) any checkpoint. As said, it attempts to do so. If enough profile space is available, all of your progress will be permanently saved a few seconds after doing any of the above actions. If that's not the case, you'll get the sweet "profile too full"-message. Every hard-save seems to be accompanied by a temporary quicksave. I did quite some testing, but didn't get to the profile space limits of quicksave. Guess it's pretty high up.

Yes.
