LBP PSP review!

Archive: 26 posts

Found some of the first reviews for LBP PSP. Got all 9/10 so far. With multiplayer I think the score would be even higher.

*Gasp!* How could anyone not be impressed with LBP PS3?

This is a good review. It got a 90% from a person who did not like the original. I cannot wait to see what type of review it will get from someone who liked LBP PS3.

This review was a good find. Like Darth said, it's a good sign that the reviewer likes the PSP version better than the original. He/she certainly doesn't sound very knowledgeable of create mode though, so I'm taking this review as an impression of gameplay only.2009-11-09 03:20:00

Got the same score as when they reviewed the PS3 version, so it seems like even without multiplayer it's an achievement on PSP. The guy liked how it was less floaty and said that create mode was easier.

Create mode actually sounds fine. Shape cutting is something of a loss, but to be honest I seem to use the corner editor for most everything these days anyway. Painting with round shapes in particular creates excessive vertices, so the corner editor is much more thermo friendly. It just boils down to a change in creation style, something I'm sure that won't take long for most people to get used to.2009-11-10 00:28:00

And another one: http://www.videogamer.com/psp/little_big_planet/review-2.html we seem to be consistent with getting "9s"2009-11-10 14:05:00

Those reviews are very insightful. I haven't read any issues which might make me not get the game, so the sale for me will be entirely dependent on how easy it is to find good levels and to get your levels noticed.

Did I read correctly or did some of the reviews say you could put tags on your levels?

I might not create on PSP if nothing done about it but the story mode look amazing and im sure people wil put up with it to make amazing levels2009-11-10 16:59:00

I'll have to wait until I have the game in my hands to know for sure, but I'm hoping that we will be able to create larger objects (with greater detail) and shrink them down. That would get around the grid issue, but this is just speculation on my part. Oh, wrong forum.

Regardless, most of the objects you can see in the story mode levels are quite detailed, so I don't see why users wouldn't be able to do the same thing.

Wow, that's pretty good for Game Informer, their rating average is like a 2 out of 10!

Ugh, that's a terribly written review. He still gave it an 8/10, but unfortunately the reviewer seems like he's not a fan of LBP in the first place, and he's also something of an idiot:

Just a year ago the original LittleBigPlanet on PS3 was enduring its fumbled launch as the latest in a string of hoped for killer apps to save the system. As a 2D platformer with a reliance on user created content it never really had a chance of becoming any such thing, no matter how good it was.
Uh, what? LBP PS3 was (and is) a huge success.

It's actually almost embarrassing for the PS3 just how well this game has been adapted for Sony's portable. It looks and plays almost identically, which also means it would work fine on the PS2, forever spoiling its chances of becoming the definitive PS3 game.So because they were able to cram LBP goodness into a PSP, that makes the PS3 version suck somehow? I'm sorry, but this makes no sense at all.

IN SHORT: An impressive port of the PS3 original that improves some elements, even if it leaves out multiplayer. This game is not a port. New levels, new items, new animations... The fundamentals are there, but this is a whole new experience.

Granted, everyone is entitled to their opinions, but this guy is just plain wrong on a lot of points. I have a hard time buying anything he says.

Why should i get lbp psp ? Since there is no way to make stickers i can't make levels with an unique badge and i can't have screenshots. Everything i need is in the ps3 version. So why should i get a version of lbp with lower quality, no multiplayer, limited create mode and more ?

Yeah it is impressing that it is hand held but still. LBP is the best ps3 game but it is not the best psp game. Patapon is much better =(

Exactly. I don't see why loads of people seem to think this game will be terrible, just because it's not the PS3 version.2009-11-16 21:28:00

I love what the reviewer had to say about people who don't like LBP.
