Something's Wrong Here...

Okay, my PS3 no longer acknowledges that my game is in it. I mean, the blue light comes on and everything, but it won't play and doesn't show up in the menu. I think I've heard of this before, but I can't remember what to do. Help please? | 2009-11-07 15:52:00 Author: iiiijujube Posts: 594 |
This happend to my resistance disk once. Step 1: Check back of disk for burns on disk Step 2: Try a different game to see if it works | 2009-11-07 16:12:00 Author: Snrm Posts: 6419 |
If it happens to more discs your laser is broken. If it's only that one it may have a crack. | 2009-11-07 16:16:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
Crud, my laser is broken?! Is there anything I can do? | 2009-11-07 16:17:00 Author: iiiijujube Posts: 594 |
Call Sony and ask for a replacement. Do that before you try fixing it yourself (I don't even know if you can do that). | 2009-11-07 16:22:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
Call Sony and ask for a replacement. Do that before you try fixing it yourself (I don't even know if you can do that). You can buy spares online and open up the console to swop out the broken part for a new blu ray drive. Compared to the level of dismantling required to fix a ylod a blu ray drive replacement is very easy. | 2009-11-07 16:33:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
That's good, but I'd still ask for replacement first, especially if your console is still under warranty. | 2009-11-07 17:57:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
It is under warranty still, I'm sending it in on monday. Do they send you a replacement PS3, or do they fix the one you send? | 2009-11-08 11:06:00 Author: iiiijujube Posts: 594 |
They gave me a new one. I lost all data except LBP, which I had backed up. | 2009-11-08 11:40:00 Author: moleynator Posts: 2914 |
Darn. Okay, how do I go about backing up data? | 2009-11-08 11:44:00 Author: iiiijujube Posts: 594 |
Get a USB stick and copy all game saves to it. Select them in the Game Saves folder (I think), press triangle and select copy. | 2009-11-08 11:47:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
Or if you have a model that has memory card slots you can copy all your data to compact flash, SD, etc. memory cards. I had the same thing happen with my PS3 and they sent me a new one. Or at least I hope it is... | 2009-11-08 14:05:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
