After The Rain part 2: The Dark Rain. by Faith_rip

Archive: 9 posts

New installment in this level series. Highly detailed and dramatic scenes in an immersive post-apocalyptic cityscape.

I think some of the levels by the author are published over old ones so the high scores may be messed up.

Nice - I love Faith_RIP levels.

I'll have to give this one a play next time I'm online.

The detail was astounding, but I was disappointed with how short it was. Navigating in the rubble was confusing at first, and it was hard to see that there was something to grab onto down there. These are just minor in relation to how amazing the balcony scene was. Wow. I mean, really wow.

5 stars and a heart.

Also, welcome to LBPC!

I had played this previously, but the new polish on it is absolutely stunning. I agree, that balcony scene is mind-blowing.

Faith_rip, you're a fellow filmmaker in real life, correct?
It definitely shows in the levels. Very cinematic, highly detailed, great mood.

It is true that training is the same as for a film

Whoops, my mistake! I think I might have assumed it was you who had done the HL2 "mystery box" short film.

As for your question, are you asking if game design training is similar to film training? If so, I can't imagine it would be, but a lot of film schools now actually feature game design campuses, because CG animation is becoming a big part of filmmaking, and if you can hold a job doing CG modelling or animation on a film, a lot of the work is similar on games - and so they've branched out into separate videogame design programs.

I know Vancouver Film School, for example, does indeed have a game design program, but I don't know much about it. The 3D animation program there is fantastic, and turns out a lot of amazingly talented artists, many of whom go on to work in videogames.

I studied film production, which involved a lot of on-set (and office) work - learning how to do all of the various jobs it takes to get a film made, from the grip to the sound mixer to the producer.
