awe :[ that sucks. my current toy is logic studio laced with garageband, as well as making hideously repulsive squealing noises near a microphone. you might like those softwares, after learning the basics of sound arrangement/creation on fl studio.2009-11-06 07:57:00

I do!
My current toy is Ableton LIVE and a bunch of hardware synths (clavia modular, machinedrum, evolver, kaoss pad, dx200, ....). Although it's been a while since i've been actually "making" music.

FL is just a geek toy really, but it's still quite good for making electronica- not so much for metal i've found.

Musical elitists hate FL with a passion, don't ever say you use it on a super serious music forum

(hence why I posted here)

you can start with fl studio or garageband by mastering them to get the basics down, and once you start progressing and getting better you can move onto more professional stuffs and such. im still learning as well so im not gonna say much lol

Fruity loops is pretty nonstandard in it's layout but it does lend itself well to electronic music. Easy to manage plugins and arrange your tune. It's considered of a lower level to more standard DAWs because it can only really do electronica well.

...

Anyone listen to my tunes yet?

garageband takes some time to get used to, but there are loads of built in synths, keyboards, pre-recorded samples, drum synths, guitar keyboards, etc. so you wont have to record everything.

thats what i do. i bought logic and use garage band to utilize it's components

my friend has a software thats somewhat like garageband but for windows... grrr i cant remember it i used it and it was similar...

but fl studio is very good, too. some ppl dont seem to like it cause its where a lot of beginners use, but it's very advanced. deadmau5, karlg, and um, this other famous person use fl studio.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAjiVwJ2qWo

when i used it back when i was 12, i wasnt able to mater it, so im not sure how it works. i did have the capability of making a soulja boy album however; he made his whole album using the demo only XD but no, please dont get influenced by him [lol]

What kind of music do you want to make CreateNplay?
You can always try REAPER, it's one of the cheapest DAW's i know
http://www.cockos.com/reaper/
(a bit like a cheap version from Cubase or Logic)
There are several other good programs as well, Ableton Live, Cakewalk Sonar, Pro Tools, .... maybe try some demo's.

when using software like this you dont need to do live recordings as much, cause you can manually edit pre-recorded samples or arrange kits to your likings.

hop onto tucows.com and download some software demos; they've got tons of free softwares.

Logic was bought by Apple, they don't support windows anymore, it's apple exclusive now
The fact that you can create any kind of music in any program is true, but some programs lend themselves better to make x-kind of music (like Ableton and Fruity Studio are aimed at electronic musicians with lots of loops functions and electronic toys which other programs don't have, but that doesn't mean you can't create metal with them...)

Oh, does that mean you're not "buying" it?
If so, keep in mind you will need a decent soundcard with ASIO drivers (no crappy soundblaster!).
Maybe you can try Cubase http://www.steinberg.net/en/products/musicproduction/cubase5_product.html
It's basicly a virtual studio with all the bells and whistles you need (including virtual instruments)

i used to know how to get free softwares XP it involved downloading demos from tucows, going onto an illegal "SERIALZ" website to get the serial code, then bam, youd get a free whatever you wanted. it got shut down, sadly :[2009-11-06 14:38:00

I suggest you try a demo first (cubase is really expensive!)
The soundcard you have is not really gonna work, if you buy a new one (Tascam US-122L for example) you get a free copy of Cubase 4 LE.
(which is a stripped down version of cubase, you can always upgrade later)
Several other manufactures sell their soundcard with Cubase LE as well

cheers,
misty.
