I write what I like to listen to and it's cool if you don't like it but if you do, make sure you say it ![]() Also, you don't need to sugar coat your responses, I'm a hard nut when it comes to criticism, so long as its founded in truth. I'm looking for feedback in nearly all ways, technical (to do with how I made it), musical (to do with how I composed it) or anything inbetween you can think of ![]() So yeah, here goes; Synthy Dreamworld http://www.divshare.com/download/9209873-62b I've only just 'finished' this, but i'm sure tomorow i'll find something unsatisfactory about it and wish i'd never uploaded it. Serious Atmosphere http://www.divshare.com/download/9209874-ac4 It does sound very 80's and dated for a tune I made last month but I really like it. Play it loud to get the oomph of that bass. And then the joke entry : Tobias thee tonk enjun http://www.divshare.com/download/9209875-44a Ok so I didn't really try, just downloaded a MIDI and loaded some VSTs but the outcome is pretty funny ![]() Cheers. | 2009-11-06 03:17:00 Author: Asbestos101 ![]() Posts: 1114 |
Shweet musicks! I like "Tabias thee tonk enjun", epecially. but the Serious Atmosphere is pretty shweet! | 2009-11-06 22:51:00 Author: chezhead ![]() Posts: 1063 |
Thank you very much. It's a little annoying that you like the one that took the least time the most but OH WELL ![]() What did you think to synthy dreamworld? On that note, has anyone else had a listen and care to comment? | 2009-11-08 02:59:00 Author: Asbestos101 ![]() Posts: 1114 |
I liked Synthy Dreamworld the best. I just think it sounds cool. Serious Atmosphere is really cool as well. Tabias thee tonk enjun was actually really good. It's not my favorite, but I definately like it. | 2009-11-08 03:06:00 Author: Frinklebumper ![]() Posts: 941 |
I really like synthy dreamworld. It sounds quite complex and must have took a long time to make. I noticed all the subtle effects in it and they definitely made it sound good. The only thing I could criticise is that it was a bit short, it could have something else on it at the end but I don't know. Serious atmosphere was pretty good and I liked the way it progressed througout. Tobias the tonk enjun was good too, I liked the fast drums in it. | 2009-11-08 21:58:00 Author: S-A-S--G-U-N-R ![]() Posts: 1606 |

You probably don't have one at all, but if you have a score for this music can I see it? I have some music experience and know quite a bit about harmonizing and really, what "works" and what doesn't. It sounds good overall, some areas I might change though. | 2010-01-06 00:24:00 Author: Jackintosh ![]() Posts: 17 |

It sounds good overall, some areas I might change though. I know what you mean, which bits you mean and in which song. It annoys me too ![]() Anyway, i've been on a long LBP creation hiatus in favour of doing college work and sorting out my uni placement later on in the year. Well I say an lbp creation hiatus, i've started 4 levels... Not good, can't get any of them finished, but it doesn't really matter as they were all really only experiments in what I could do for my own sake. I've made half of a very pretty temply level with a few interesting physics puzzles. I've made half of a one life zombie survival level (thats actually a level) and you only have a finite number of paint ball shots. I've made half of a survival challenge set at sea (long before water beta) and I've made some prototype tea pot boats for a level based off of one of my brothers pictures. And inbetween those, i've been making music. And I made this one yesterday and today; http://www.divshare.com/download/10221337-c4d It's called apricot slurry and it's an attempt into a genre of music i've not dabbled in creating much, which is chillout music with a trip hop twist. Thanking yous. | 2010-01-20 00:08:00 Author: Asbestos101 ![]() Posts: 1114 |
the hihats in "Serious Atmosphere" sometimes sounded a bit off. I don't know if this is what you intended, but i just thought it sounded wrong, in some sort of way. I hope that was of any help <__< ![]() | 2010-01-20 00:21:00 Author: Yarbone ![]() Posts: 3036 |
I think some of the sounds in "Synthy Dreamworld" sounded a little like a cat, but I am sure it was my imagination... Though, the music was really great, even though it is not my favourite type of music. The "Serious Atmosphere" was really catchy, but "Synthy Dreamworld" was my favourite! | 2010-01-20 16:51:00 Author: moonwire ![]() Posts: 1627 |

Apricot Slurry is great. I liked the chord progressions, but sometimes the synth melody went places I wouldn't expect it to normally go. However, overall I liked it the best out of the ones you have posted. The mood and genre is very authentic and organic feeling, I like it! | 2010-01-21 09:30:00 Author: ElectrizCity ![]() Posts: 13 |
I'm waiting on my bro to finish up some more level concept art for me. Until then, I made this piece today and yesterday ; http://www.divshare.com/download/10370106-8d6 It's called frosty soda. | 2010-02-01 19:58:00 Author: Asbestos101 ![]() Posts: 1114 |

On that note, has anyone else had a listen and care to comment? Why is it bad he likes the one you spent the least time on? My band wrote a song on sunday, and unlike our normal 'come up with riffs, come up with chorus' etc, it was 'put down a fast drum beat' and then we played over it. % minutes, we had a whole song done, and it was easily as good as some of our other stuff. Sometimes, things just happen ![]() Oh, I see, oops. I wasn't very clear, I meant when he said he liked 'Tobias the Tonk Enjun', that one took about 30 minutes to make because it's so very, very simple. Serious atmosphere on the other hand took a good day to make and i'm happy that he likes it ![]() Did you listen to Frosty Soda? | 2010-02-01 22:34:00 Author: Asbestos101 ![]() Posts: 1114 |
I'm noticing a trend with my naming conventions, but this time there is a genuine reason my lastest tune is an "adjective food". Anyway, heres Green Bacon, it was an experiment for to see what I could do with Reason. http://www.divshare.com/download/10470465-78d I think it is a lot more professional sounding than my previous ones and I'm completely in love with the glitchy drum kit sounds! ![]() | 2010-02-14 02:51:00 Author: Asbestos101 ![]() Posts: 1114 |
I listened to all of them, and I think "Synthy Dreamworld" was your best one. It sounds like something Mm would make for LBP. ![]() | 2010-02-14 03:32:00 Author: CyberSora ![]() Posts: 5551 |

I like all of them...what program are you using to notate, if any? Or are you going with a more "Garage Band" type of deal? | 2010-02-14 20:55:00 Author: Ragfell ![]() Posts: 729 |
I like all of them...what program are you using to notate, if any? Or are you going with a more "Garage Band" type of deal? I see what your getting at ![]() I don't stave it out, I work out chord sequences on my keyboard and guitar. (I learnt to play guitar first so the theory side comes easier to me when i'm holding one) I also improvise (and manually edit) lead parts over the top of my chord sequences. I also always program drum beats by using an editor and not my keyboard ![]() I made Apricot Slurry and Frosty Soda on cubase 5. I made Serious Atmosphere and Synthy Dreamworld on Fruity Loops 9 PE. I made Green Bacon on Reason 4.0 (which is why it sounds better) I've also got a load more things I made in 2007 on cubase that are all heavily live instrument based but that was before I knew how to do anything so they all sound a bit poo now in comparison ![]() | 2010-02-15 00:27:00 Author: Asbestos101 ![]() Posts: 1114 |
Well, I ask this because I'm taking theory now (I'm looking to be a trumpet player by trade), and have almost no knowledge of it...and plus, i was just wondering if you were a midi person vs. live performance, etc...hahaha....or recording said performances at home, becoming a one-man band. well, it sounds good...i like the overall sound (and you're getting this from a guy who enjoys Mozart more than Metallica) and tone colors. The different segments flow well into each other. Without looking at a score, that's all i can possibly add! | 2010-02-15 00:53:00 Author: Ragfell ![]() Posts: 729 |

He has all sorts of recording equipment, and the right kind of house besides. Most of the fingerings actually transfer over...at least a few. XD All's you have to get used to is thinking in a different key...you're used to a concert C being a D on a trumpet, so that's the only real problem. I play most kinds of music on my guitar but I especially love playing metal and funk. I aslo have access to a 12 string acoustic and an electric bass guitar. I use my rubbishy yamaha keyboard to input midi and automate with.I really want to learn a brass instrument but those things are ****ed expensive. I can also play rudimentry drums ![]() I am however most profficient in guitar with 7 years of experience on tap. All the other sounds I use come from my magical metal wonder box of dreams...and the internet. I do like nearly all kinds of music though with the exceptions being pop punk and indie. I'm more a classical musician myself, although I also do a lot of jazz and (lately) theater music. It's always good to break free of the usual mold. I enjoy most types of music...I just don't like rap. And even then, rap isn't technically music...but that's besides the point. Some of the 90s rap was good...but now it's garbage. No offense. -shrug- I'm also slowly getting used to funk and electronica (like Daniel Pemberton, as an example that EVERYONE here knows). My friend is exposing me to Ben Folds a lot, as well. Brass instruments aren't necessarily THAT expensive...it just depends on if you're looking for a professional-quality instrument or not. My beginner's trumpet was about...err....800 dollars in the end, and my current model (which is professional grade), I ended up getting a discount to make it drop from I believe 2100 to 1800 dollars. I've seen trombones go for 100 dollars, but I am unsure as to how long that will last you...but if you want to learn, that may be a place to try. -shrug- | 2010-02-16 22:29:00 Author: Ragfell ![]() Posts: 729 |
I'm more a classical musician myself Oh thats handy, because heres a little sample of what i've been working on for most of today ![]() http://www.divshare.com/download/10497740-b9d It's got; violin, viola, cello, bass, timpani, trumpet group, trombone group, clarinets, contra bassoon, flutes, glockenspiel and misc percussion (cymbals)...so far ![]() What do you think? Strategy-RPG, like Fire Emblem. I especially like the flute part that cuts through it all. Or is it a clarinet? It's pretty synth, I can't really tell. Hahaha I arranged one-winged angel for band. The upload messed with the very opening, but it's not atrocious. It would be amazing to get a group to play it, but the concert we're gonna have (where all the band kids that are required to compose an original piece during second semester) in second semester would have to an original piece. :/ If you've ever read the Night Angel Trilogy, that's why I'm tryin to personify in a suite. It's a headache. hahaha | 2010-03-07 03:40:00 Author: Ragfell ![]() Posts: 729 |

It's called Senior Seminar Band. What it is is Band without having to play sectional assignments, but we instead have to do performance/education-type of gigs. So, for example, 1st quarter you have to go for All-District band, second quarter you have to arrange a piece for band (so, you could arrange "Hey Jude", as an example. Third Quarter you have to prepare a solo for a contest. And 4th you have to write an original piece. It's interesting, to say the least. I'm in theory right now, so it's helping…but not by much. hahaha | 2010-03-07 19:30:00 Author: Ragfell ![]() Posts: 729 |
