**** virus >_<

Archive: 18 posts

Gah, I have used at least FOUR different anti-spyware/malware software, and I have deleted over 700 threats ranging from minor to high threats, yet still my computer keeps crashing!

Micro Anti-spyware 2009, a virus that disguises itself as an anti-spyware, adds shortcuts to pornographic sites and creates fake "virus attacks" fooling my computer into crashing every few minutes, unless I start the computer is Safe-Mode, was installed by an unidentifiable Trojan.

The real problem is, I deleted that virus using a File Shredder software, yet the threats still come up, eventually causing my computer to crash...I have no idea what to do...Can anyone PLEASE help me? ;_;

Restore your computer?

Just remember to get a copy of all your files first... >_>
It's what we did when we got a virus on the family computer... meh, it's what I would do...

Yeah, they got you good. Sounds like the trojan opens up some ports and lets the junk in. Just guessing.

What kind of system are you using? Windows XP, Vista? mac? Linux?
Where are you getting these antivirus/spyware programs from and which ones are you using? Trial versions of Norton and McAfee are available for most systems.

I'll try to help ya out when I get more info. I know how much of a pain it is to be dealing with stuff like that.

Sounds to me like the file still exsists on your computer. do a search on google and you'll probably find some alternate filenames to delete, then instructions on what and how to delete from the registry.

but yes, you really should just restore your computer to before the virus started..

if after you do that it still fails, could be hardware causing the crashes. I had faulty RAM once and it caused the BSOD all the time

Best question is what anti virus software are you using? If you aren't using either Avast or AVG, as a LOLcat would say, UR doing it rong!

Grab yourself Spybot Search and Destroy (2 anti virus programs on a machine isn't a great idea either, by the way, I know one person who was so paranoid he had 4 programs on. Ran SO slow...) and make sure it's up to date and run it again.

Same here, restore ur cp and make sure to get ur stuff saved on a mem card or something. But after that installing everything is gonna be a pain...

You could just roll it back if your computer has that feature...

ALSO Panda Activescan is a good free online viruschecker, its pretty up-to-date, you should try that one aswell. or heck, call in a professional.

I really don't recommend any free virus-scans...

From my experience, each one would give a different result, and every one even more ridiculous than the last. >_>

If you don't have a proper scanning program, check out some of the free ones, but don't expect to get any good results...

Reinstalling everything after restoring it is a huge pain. >_<

Seconding Panda, it managed to remove a dialer that I couldn't get rid of.

Yeah, I had to restore my cp before and ALL of my stuff on iTunes was gone because it was all from CD's and "borrowed" downloads. grr

safe-mode!!!

then go to control panel.... restore system

restore the system to before you got the viruses...
then find the file where to restore system backup files are. (its where the virus is now kept) and delete that...

just restoring the system wont do it... you have to delete the backup files too

Dude, how weird, I got the BSOD today too. I have no idea why, I was just browsing this site and all of a sudden. Boom, BSOD, restarted Windows normally. Everything seems fine, except pages load hella slower and sometimes dont even load up and I get the "Internet Exploder cannot find this page" thing. Im scared!!2008-09-24 05:19:00

For those of you who are suggesting I should do a system restore...That is the first thing I thought of doing, but my computer is new and has no system checkpoints, at all...so taking it back to another time is impossible ;_;

Also, today my computer crashed even during Safe Mode, I fear this whole virus thing is getting way out of hand...Apparently there's a virus called Zlob.P0rn.ad on my computer, and I have absolutely no idea where it came from (No, not porn sites, trust me >_> xD)

Also, I want to point out that when in Safe Mode, Scanning the computer is dead set useless, it never ever comes back with accurate results...But when it's not in Safe Mode, it finds a few threats whilst scanning, but by the time the scan is complete, the computer would have crashed >_>

I'm using Registry Mechanic, Spy Doctor, and Privacy Guardian...but none of them find anything suspicious during Safe Mode, nor are they fast enough to complete a scan before the computer crashes during normal mode...I'm seriously getting scared ;_;

It is nice to have a external hard drive or multiple hard drives in these cases. I just had to reformat my computer tonight cause of a virus stupid little thing. A external is nice to have to keep the important images in case of a harmful damage.

No system restore points then reformat start off from scratch it's a pain to install all the programs again but it is better to play safe then have stuff go away forever.
