Is it possible, that Mm could add a "Simplified" creating method? Where, for example, you could go to the pause menu in "Create mode" and then select "Simple" or "Advanced" (or whatever awesome word Mm has for it). The "Advanced" one would be the what the creator has today, the "Simple" mode would be for the less complicated creator, and it would lock out some of the complicated switches, and things like pistons, emitters, etc. But, there could also be another mode. The other mode would be "Custom" (OR whatever awesome word Mm has) where the player can go to there Pop-it and select the things they want, like for instance, spring, elastic, rope, Weather changer, all the dangers, etc. What do YOU think about it?

If you don't want to use connectors (ropes, pistons etc), emitters and switches, there's quite a simple way to achieve this: Just don't select them. I understand that the tweak menu of emitters may be confusing to unexperienced creators, but I don't think that the mere icon of an emitter in the popit could be so irritating that players could get confused by just having it available in their popit. I can't see any advantage in a simplified create mode - at least if it works the way you described it. I just think it's quite hard to decrease the complexity of the editor without limiting the possibilities.
