Anyone else excited about this starting up tonight? I've seen the original series that aired in the 80's and it's great. I'd say definitely give it a shot if you think it looks slightly intriguing. Get a sneak peak here (http://abc.go.com/shows/v/):

Should be awesome!

I haven't known anything about this, but I've seen some ads around town at the bus stops, and then I saw a pretty amazing-looking spot on tv the other day when I was watching The Daily Show.

I might just try to take a peek at this, but I tend to stay faaar away from TV! It's too much to handle for me, keeping up with regular shows. I catch my Daily Show and Colbert Report, and that is literally the extent of it. Oh, and I download South Park and watch the occasional miniseries (Generation Kill and John Adams were both quite impressive).

But this did look cooler than your average show in the tv spot I saw, and looked like a great deal of alien-invasion fun.

I did just look this up - apparently the original was NOT a series, but a mini-series?? and they're only airing FOUR episodes of this before continuing it in March!

THAT has my interest piqued, because my problem with most dramatic tv shows is that they run out of gas and end up being milked into dry husks of entertainment. You've got to keep it juicy and delicious, and kill your show on a high note like Gervais did with The Office and Extras. I really, really hope they keep this to the short-term and don't milk it dry. Only 4 episodes and amazing reviews, I may just have to hit this up!

This is absolutely key. Perfect point. It'll only be good if they keep everything solid just as the original miniseries was. Needs to be fast-paced and not beat around the bush. God knows we don't need another "When the Whistle Blows" on our hands...

The original was a two-part miniseries, then they ran a perfectly meaningless TV series (somewhere around 20 episodes), and wrapped it up with "V: The Final Battle" which was another three-part series. Five parts total, fantastic if you're a science fiction/alien buff.

Ugh... I'm not sure about this, but I'll check it out I suppose. I thought the first time around started out well enough but reeked by the end of it. Anyone remember "Willy - the good alien"?

I'm already seeing signs of poor writing in this short clip. How "exactly" did Mom find her son in an overcrowded street full of panick stricken people after he left "some clinic"? I think this is gonna' bite. I'm sure it will not be another BSG or Caprica, but I'll give the first episode a chance at least.

Well, I will have to watch it because I heart V! Well, at least it says so on one of my buttons I got at Comic-Con. I totally do heart V though.2009-11-03 14:58:00

I loved the original. Was on TV when I was just the right age to get most of it but still come at it with that youthful pov that helps suspend disbelief. I thought it was really awesome and bought them all on DVD as an adult. Some of it now is so campy and dated it's hilarious but other stuff still holds up pretty good.

I'm cautiously excited about tonights new version. Sort of like when they remade Battlestar Galactica. That turned out pretty good.

Willie was played by Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger) as I recall.

You deliver another solid side to the argument, but we all really share the same belief. The show has the potential to be good, but there's plenty the writers could do to screw it up. That said, I'm choosing to look at it from a "glass half full" perspective while you insist on throwing the glass to the ground, shattering it, and then exclaiming, "See, I told you there was nothing in the **** glass!"

OMG MORRIS CHESTNUT!

. . .

The ad on the right ruined the surprise (ads be ****ed!) for me.

It'd look more interesting if the alien didn't look like a woman with ugly short hair (I hate short hair on women ). Should look like an alien.

It starts tonight? I'll record it and check it out tomorrow. Wont be home tonight (cause it's my bday dewd).

I've been looking forward to this! I probably won't have time to watch it live, but I'll record it and watch it later.2009-11-03 22:08:00

So my parents apparently watched the show in the 80's and so did my older sister, so we're recording it. As for me, I have not the slightest clue what it is, except that ABC is on a roll, and I shall go wiki it now. brb2009-11-04 00:20:00

Hulu it instead. YOU CAN SEE THE FIRST 9 MINUTES!
EDIT: I just finished watching it and it looks like it could be AMAZING. Won't ruin what happens.

Tonight's episode was good, but pretty lackluster in my opinion as there was a ton wedged into that hour. Maybe it's just due to the fact it was the pilot? Hopefully...

I know I wanted an strong pacing, but there has to be some time for development. Next week should be a better idea as to what we can expect.

I don't even know what you're talking about? Glass? Hell no... I drink straight from the bottle man!!

Good analogy though.

I missed the pilot tonight, but I'm sure it will be readily available from a friend or two so I'll check it out later this week.

Cheers.

My mom and aunt used to watch this when they were kids, and were kind of freaking out when they heard it was being re-done. I watched the first few minutes of it, and didn't love it.2009-11-04 16:39:00

Finally watched it, and thought it was great! I'll have to see where it goes. I'm not 100% sold on it, but the pilot was very good.
I'm a little iffy on the characters like some of you said - there wasn't a whole lot of development in the characters. Nevertheless, I'm excited for episode 2!

I watched it and I liked it. I would say the pilot was fast paced, but I think they tried to fit as much as they could, because they were trying to build an audience. Still I like it a lot and I will be sure to catch the next ep.

Also, glad to see Alan Tudyk again.

Episode 2! Thoughts?

Thought it was alot better than the pilot. Really disappointed that they are still
focusing on tyler and this V, pretty bs and doesn't add to the show IMO

I agree, one of the first people I suspected. He seems, to "submissive" into agreeing that the V's are good and find and dandy.
