Sticker Switches and Logic

Archive: 5 posts

My friend asked me to make his clan headquarters, and I didn't just feel like making ANOTHER elevator to be able to switch floors, instead, wanted to make no exits nor entries in rooms, and use a teleportation device! Okay, so there is one main teleporter, and eight teleporters where you'll end up at and where from you can get back to the main one. Once you're inside the main teleporter, you will have to sticker one of the eight teleporters you'll end up at. Then plasma balls will start blasting and you will be teleported to the destination you chose.

Now, my problem is that the sticker switch, when activated, remains activated permanently, "taking out" the main teleporter and the destination teleporter you chose, breaking the whole mechanism!
What's wrong?? When I deleted the sticker using triangle, it acts like the sticker is still there, and the system remains activated, if I choose to take the sticker away from the switch, and then delete it, the mechanism still remains triggered! HELPZ MEH PLZ!

Well, first and foremost, pressing triangle deletes the sticker in a way that the sticker switch doesn't recognize. If you pick it up and then delete it, it will register. Once you get that sorted out, you should be good to go, right?

Also, if you can work out your logic mechanism so that your sticker switch gives a one shot output, so that it only lasts for a certain period of time, the fact that you can delete stickers without the sticker switch recognizing should be a non-issue.

In fact, Burnvictim42 has a level which does exactly what you are trying to do. I'm not sure if he has a thread to go along with it, but I'm sure you can do some searching. The level is just a simple tech demo.

I haven't tried making the switch one-shot, I'll do that now and hopefully it works. Thanks a lot!2009-11-01 14:17:00

Yeah, I got it fixed, it was a bit troublesome because the sticker switches were attached to pistons which would activate the other mechanisms in a giant chain-reaction, so I had to attach the one shot pistons to separate logic which would remain activated for a limited time, using emitters, and then linking to the pistons.
Thanks again!
