new cp respawn without moving cp/entrance?

Archive: 7 posts

I've already seen a topic where someone asked how to do this and they said the player moves the entrance or cp so you'll spawn at the new part of level, or scorebaord.

But what I'm wanting to know is how people crush the entrance gate, and when you die you'll spawn from a cp you never touched.

I have finished a glass jumping score challenge race level, except some minor touches. I have a scoreboard at beginning (player can't get to until they die, and then a winner's scoreboard at end of level for those that actually reach the finish. I've played score challenges like this and the entrance is crushed after entering, and when you die anywhere in level, you'll spawn at a cp by the (loser) scoreboard with whatever score you attained.

Could someone please help me? I plan on releasing a level tonight that's already done, just a quick simple glass jumping challenge that goes from easy to expert (so accessible to all players) and you get as far as you can, and I already have the two scoreboards in, and entrance, and cp, but I have to make sure it spawns you at new cp by losing scoreboard after dying after entrance crushed.

Just take out the checkpoint. You'll automatically respawn on the scoreboard. If you've got more then one scoreboard, you'll have to emit the second one (the victory one) when the player reaches the end of the level.

If you must use a checkpoint, you have to use an activated checkpoint. Go into a blank level and place a regular checkpoint (infinite for example). Crush the entrance, or destroy it some other way. Save, go into play mode. You should spawn through the regular checkpoint - this is good. Return to create mode. You should have entered the level via the checkpoint (that's not a start gate). Capture this checkpoint - it is now activated.

Use this activated checkpoint. You must emit it into the level after the original start gate has been destroyed.

Cheers.

Thank you so much! ^_^

So this must be the cp glitch someone mentioned to me, but of course they didn't know how to do it. I will try it after my shower. The reason I'm wanting it to be a cp is because some people don't like to spawn on the scoreboard as they'd rather restart the level first because maybe they don't want their name on the scoreboard yet until they get a better score. So instead I'm doing what I've seen some do where they spawn the player from a cp next to the losing scoreboard, rather than on/ the scoreboard itself.

Okay, this didn't work.

This is exactly what I did . . .

I went into blank level. I placed a large glass block above entrance, then to right of entrance, but not under block, I placed a regular cp. I unpaused and the glass fell and crushed the entrance. I saved and entered play mode.

In play mode I popped out of the cp since there was no entrance, then I returned to create mode.

In create mode I popped out of the cp, then I captured it. I placed a new entrance, which is where player enters level, and placed the cp the player is suppose to spawn out of after dying by the losing sb. Now when I enter create made every time since I pop out of the cp instead of the entrance, which is no problem, but in play mode I come out of entrance (which is good), and then entrance will be destroyed when player passes the trigger radius. But when the player dies, instead of spawning from the cp near the losing sb, they spawn from the sb itself. I don't understand what went wrong. I'm suppose to be spawning from the cp once the entrance is destroyed (in play). I also noticed when I spawned from the sb instead, the cp wasn't activated. But in create mode it is activated because when I go to create it spawns me from cp instead of entrance.

I think I know what's wrong. You're supposed to emit the activated checkpoint in Play mode, not just place it during Create mode.2009-11-03 00:20:00
