The Perpetual Distance - (Chapter II) - The Abandoned CitadelKoRnDawwg
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=826&pictureid=8006You and the gang are back for some more exploring - only this time within the City of Mayhl, which has been devastated by a sudden military coup. You are now set to journey through the ruins and reveal the truth behind this attack, whilst still in search of the next artefact...Is this Lizeth's doing?

It's a little shorter than usual due to thermo problems, I didn't get to end it as epically as I wanted to but still, I hope you enjoy! Special thanks to Knocked Out, Zwollie and everyone else who has tested for me And yes, Evanesced (or Forgave...No idea why he's changed his PSN ) makes an appearance as the last guard.

Wooohooo! finally its out, i've been playing it with you alot lately so i've already seen the most of it before but heh there is so much detail in this level that every time I come back I see things I didn't see before! I love the colours and materials you used, after I saw you level for the first time I wanted to give up on my level because yours was looking so amazing

I also love the details you put in, like the checkpoints with gates that open when you walk past them and the falling lights when you collect a thing that noo-one will collect (thats what you called them right?) The level was of good length and had enough platforming in it, I can't wait till the next one.. Hope that doesn't take you a year to make :| There's so much more I could say about the greatness of this level but then the others would have nothing more to say

I didn't find all the collectables though, and I've been trying to trick your 2-player part for about 10 minutes but I couldn't get to it, well done! I did manage to get the bubbles though Don't ask me how lol.

Gave the level a well deserved :star::star::star::star::star: and a big heart saying beautiful

OMG... gimme 10 minutes...

Okay, played it... brilliant stuff as I've come to expect. Beautiful, artistic visuals, very cool puzzles and super atmosphere. Loved the 'things' you have to collect, and some good music choices and SFX, too!

Some great mechanics too (btw, did you mean to leave some switches and muisc radios showing? Kind of spoiled a bit of the effect in places).

This series is easily one of my favourites - but I'm angry to report that even though I gave it 5 stars (and others here have) that it's currently rated 3 stars. I wouldn't normally recommend or condone republishing as new, but in this case I simply don't care. I would either implore prospective players to ignore the insultingly low rating (this level is stunning), or, Dawwgy, I would consider taking this masterpiece down and trying again.

I despair, I really do.

I forgot to credit you as being one of my main testers, I'll do that now I really appreciate that, and yes, I do call them the things which no-one will collect But I do like to add that little replay value for those who wish to try and collect them all

As for the two player part, EEK! You could get the bubbles? Noes! Must change :/ But I'm glad that you tried to trick it, and even happier that you couldn't do it! HA! No seriously, it's impossible I can't blame ya xD And yes, part 3 will probably be a complete breeze, this was the really hard one to make y'know, cause there's so much plot...Almost frustrates me that I couldn't really put all the details in

Anyway, thank you again, and don't bloody give up on your level now, if anything I should be envying you -__-

Just a couple of corrections! I accidentally made a couple of mistakes in the speech bubbles...Hopefully now it should be a little clearer

3 stars?? I think you fell foul of the rating kiddies there, that sucks.

Lovely gothic atmosphere that really drew me in, and some really special lighting in places too. All the little details really add up, the animated checkpoints, the collectables that don't necessarily appear straight away, and it also feels like its own authentic little world which is not easy.

I'd have to play first again because the story left me a little clueless, but thats no criticism. You could do a very succinct recap of sorts that might bring new players up to speed... only a thought.

Great work. : )

Seriously!!? You better republish now because the 3 stars will keep coming if more unfair raters play it and this level definitly deserves 5.

You could try locking it, republishing as new, and if the newer one does the same or worse, delete it again.

Just let me know the nano-second you decide.

Unfortunately all trains leading to New Street station are off because conductors can't be arsed to work voluntarily on a Sunday anymore. Even so, he can probably thumb a lift, or if he's patient enough, wait until Monday. 0__0 Can he talk by any chance? I'll give him a call

(Wait, there's two of you?

EDIT: LOL! Just realised that it's not MrsSpooky, it's Spooky, as in MrSpooky, and that means he's your, yeah, I get ya... -__-)

(Oh ****! I'm going to hide behind your goldfish...On that note, why the hell are we talking about your goldfish riding bicycles, thumbing lifts, catching trains, eating freshly dissected prawns and visiting dreams? Hey, sounds like a good comedy!)

Yes, yes I had to The radios especially, otherwise it would not make any sense. But as for the permanent switches, I did that just to give a little lesson to newbs and add a bit of subtle "what you would find behind the scenes" action

Right, some updates...

...The level is doing pretty well, but I realised that I never fully checked the speech bubbles properly (I was kinda in a rush yesterday), so all corrections have been made. I've also placed the radios better so they're lying on objects, which actually looks pretty cool

Right...I'll have to be using the republish trick so I apologise in advance for any torture 0__0

*Apologies for the double post!*

Righty ho! Well I had a few minutes to check the progress and plays of the level, and Goodness Gracious Great Balls of Fire! (Yes, I'm using that joke again but hey, I performed it with the solo yesterday night and BOOM it was awesome! ) . It got on page two...Which is strange to see considering it has significantly less plays than some other levels on there...Is there something like a play:heart ratio or something?

Anyway, Chapter III should actually be a lot quicker, and a little less plot-heavy (?) than this one...Even though there isn't a whole lot, it's still way too much for some kids to handle -__-'

Never fear though, it's not like I'm toning down the plot because of the reception from this level, I just don't have to add as much in this. It's more focused on manoeuvring through the underground passages

You are correct, sir - a level can move faster up cool pages with less plays if it has good hearts and good ratings.

And, boy does this one deserve it! I enjoy each release in this series - I love the imaginative platforming. I gave it 5 stars and a heart.

That's interesting, I thought it was based on plays and how many people are playing it at once 0__0 Thanks for that! And I'm glad you enjoyed it

Well, I went on a slightly over-the-top republishing spree yesterday night to really push this thing to page one. Today is the last day it will be on cool pages and hell, it's on the front page right now! I'm happy it's up there. I feel now that this level has achieved good success

Astonishing detail. Makes me want to attempt a level just like this one. Loved the overall look and although the platforming wasn't all that challenging (for me), it was fun. At the very end I was only able to collect 2 items however, so perhaps I missed a few? 5 stars all the way.2009-11-07 19:02:00

On my second playthrough, I was still as impressed as the first time

My only major feedback is at the drawbridge, the R1 sign made me think I was supposed to jump and grab the winch (assuming you used the glitch), so I jumped off that thing at least a dozen bloody times lol.

Same goes with the two doors early in the level that open, where you need to grab the block inside to open the other door below that one. I thought it was metal, so I was wandering around that place for what seemed like forever

Beautiful, beautiful, epic level. Did I mention it was beautiful? Best layer glitch I've seen out of the hundreds of beautiful layer glitch levels out there. A big, smoochy heart for you and your level. Keep it up!!!

Btw, it's "pene" that censors happened.

That's the most ****ed-up list of censored words ever. But thank you for telling me

Right, the level has had it's run on cool pages, totaling around 7,500 plays. However, the really, really annoying thing is that it ended up with three stars. ****ing ****-take. I've had comments ranging from "it was good but i didn't know what to do, 1 star", as well as "it's spelled artifact, 1*", despite the fact that I've had to RELENTLESSLY say that it's spelled with an 'e' in the UK. I'm just so ******, I hate the LBP community.

I know what you mean, my level had a two star rating after the first 50 plays : luckily its 4 now If I was you I would republish the level... the level deserves much more than 3 stars and 7500 plays and im sure there are enough people out there that give you 5 star ratings Perhaps publish it and ask friends to play it so you start with a good score?

Far, far too much hassle. I'll just do better on the next one, and besides, 7000 plays isn't bad. I just hate kids, and despite the fact that these ignorant and snotty little ****ers have consistently rated one star, others who have considered the amount of effort put into making these levels have said that's it's pretty good. So as long as I am appealing to those people, I'm happy. Honestly, I've just never had a 3-star level and am a bit ****** about it, but meh, I'll live.

Now. Chapter III, anyone?

It should be the easiest one Gameplay outweighs the story in this one. It's just basically a journey through a colossal underground cave system. It's also fairly satirical since there's still military activity on top with soldiers killing civilians, yet the Noveltones play at the same time You also see a load of wealthy and rich people watch the bombing of the Citadel and congratulating eachother and the soldiers for the coup's success.

Well, Maths at A-level (not sure what you call it over there...College?) is the hardest subject you can take...Scarily enough. I have to really work on it. Funny it's your last year next year 0__0
