Show us your pumpkins!

Archive: 25 posts

Hello everyone. Last night my husband, friends and I carved a bunch of pumpkins based on various themes (video games, batman, lord of the rings) and I have a few pictures to share. Wanted to see if anyone else made any pumpkins this year. I'd LOVE to see pictures! Here are ours! ^_^

Box Ghost, my sackperson, by me

Balrog from Lord of the Rings by Vmethos

Batman by another of my friends (this pattern was not created by us and was taken from an internet forum, fyi. Can't take credit for this genius)

Vault Boy from Fallout 3 by my husband, Catiers

I also put a few we did previous years up here:

I hope you enjoy these, and again, if you have carved pumpkins this year, oro any year for that matter, please post them, as I'm sure we'd all love to see them. I know I would!

Happy Halloween, everyone!

Those are great! Here are a couple that I have done:

Mine is on the right. It's based on the pumpkin from Batman: The Long Halloween.

Mine is the one on the left. Nightmare Before Christmas! Yeah!

mrsupercomputer! Yours are WONDERFUL! Thank you so much for sharing! ^_^ The long halloween one is really awesome! And the nightmare before christmas one is SO precise. Great work!

Edit: comphermc, that one that you like, I drew the pattern and Larry cut it out. I cut like some sort of idiot. He's way more precise than I am.

xkappax, you should see me. Being a teenager, I have a tendency to go "HACK HACK HACK SLASH STAB HACK Oohhh a pretty bird outside the window HACK HACK", and end up with a hollow shell for a pumpkin. Oh well!2009-10-31 16:35:00

Hah hah, is it bad that I do that now and I'm 31?

My husband always has to do the stuff that I think up, because of how imprecise I am. He'll sew particularly delicate parts of any stuffed animals we're doing, and if the pumpkins we're doing are intricate, you'd better believe he's the one who's doing them. Look at the edges of the box ghost pumpkin. They just reek of how imperfect I really am.

Heck no, xkappax, I sure hope I'm still as hyperactive and loco as I am now when I'm 30+! I sure hope I also play loads of videogames too Aha, childhood dreams, eh!2009-10-31 16:42:00

Finally, a thread where I can respond to you avatar!!

They all look really awesome, I know some of them have a lot more detail but Boxghost is without a doubt my favourite. Insantly recognisable!!

Thanks, Zwollie. I worked on that BoxGhost pumpkin for a week (well, the template for it) trying to get it just right. I needed it to be stylized, but I also needed to capture the "essence" of box ghost. And then I was cleaning out my desk and accidentally threw out all of my sketches and had to start ALL over. heh heh.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone, and if anyone else has got a pumpkin they carved, I wanna see pics!

Thanks to everyone! My friend Patrick (Vmethos) did that balrog one. He's a huge fan of Lord of the Rings.

Hey, am I alone in being sick or something? Each time I read the title of this thread, my brain is having a tendency of reading "pumpkin" as "butt". I mean, I do read "pumpkin" but you know what I mean, for a fraction of a second the word is taking another signification.
