Layer Detection?

Archive: 7 posts

I was wondering if anybody has made a contraption of some sorts to be able to actually detect on which layer the player is on...Sounds a bit mad cause all sensors detect all the layers not one or two, but I'm still curious.2009-10-30 13:17:00

All sensors except for one. Do you own the MGS addon content? The "searchlight" is actually a combination of physical object, light and sensor, the sensor being layer-sensitive.2009-10-30 13:40:00

Yup, the searchlight is key. You can combine it with a sensor switch through an AND gate for more precise detection. Without the searchlight it's not possible unless you line the floor of each layer with buttons (boy, that would look funny).2009-10-30 15:17:00

Yup, searchlights the way to go. Also, if you turn the spotlight upside down and tweak the angle so its 360 degrees, you'll be able to hide the light. Couple this with more sneaky AND gate switchery and you can provide some pretty precise player proximity predictions!
(couldn't resist the alliteration )
