Now im sorry for starting up yet another water based topic, but i've been thinking this for the past few days now. Did they uncover some massive bug in the BETA and had to make a big adjustment or are they just being plain old mean! > I know there's should be some time left for speculation and hype but c'mon! 3 months and nothing to show! Im just wondering if Mm regret announcing the feature so early on.

Well they did the same with online create aswell. That beta is supposed to be finished from what I've heard though. Water should stay in the beta for quite a while if they're going to test it as much as the online create beta. Anyway, they had to announce it to get the beta testers to join in the first place.

is online play out yet? ive only heard the term afew times and seen it in videos but they were in beta ( bad ) anyway water is a delicate thing, think of all the glitches. i just hope it isnt all hype

Nahh im just kidding. I know you're joking, but this really is the problem that MM have to face with this community. They can't win. Before water was released, people were complaining in their droves about the lack of major updates. Basically people were complaining about the lack of big announcements. When water was announced and people found out it wasn't getting released straight away, they complained. People complained when they didn't get into the beta in the random drawings. If MM had released water early, without it being stable, I'm pretty sure I know what the community would have done .

No, online play's not out yet. No idea when it'll be released. I don't think they announced water too early, considering the beta began very shortly after the announcement - as in, a week or two after. There's no way it would have been kept a secret at the beta level. The beta is winding down, but there's no word on when the release will be. I would expect they'd want to get it out before Christmas, but seriously, nobody knows when it'll come out - in fact, I doubt Mm even knows at this point. My guess is that it hasn't even been decided yet.

Online Create, Water and alot of other smaller things like "Creator Pack 2" and the ability to Collapse folders of items will come together. That's my theory anyway. And i reckon in time for chrimbo.

They need to space out their announcement in a way there's hype all through the year. I agree it's early but that's marketing. They needed a big announcement to make people notice the GOTY edition anyways. Also to tell the new GOTY user that they are falling into a "fresh" game that still updates huge feature and not a game with a tired community. If we complain about water not coming our way fast enough, aren't we on the verge of commiting suicide because online create has been announced since almost a year? .

^lol Ranger, while I agree it's partly marketing, I think they needed to announce it anyways to get the beta going. So yeah, like most everyone else said, I think they announced it early mostly to get the beta going so we could get it as soon as possible! I know, it's a long wait, but hey - if I can wait 9 months between season 5 and 6 of LOST without ripping all my hair out, you should be able to wait 10 years for water!!!

If I remember correctly, LBP was first announced a long, loooong way back before it was released. Remember when Mm said they wanted to reveal the game as early as possible? They said they did so to keep the game "evolving" with the audience, to see what people's reactions to features and current progress where, see what worked and what didn't. I'm sure that's part of the reason why water was announced so early. Still the same idea, still the same principle. Sample off people's reactions.

Why do companies announce anything so early? I mean, think about it: Square Enix announced the three new Kingdom Hearts spinoffs (yeah, I play those games) two or three years ago. Yet, we only got one of them about a month ago and another isn't due out until next year. It's to build hype and get people excited. If water were released with little fanfare, it just wouldn't work. Gamers feed on hype, see.

I honestly would'nt mind if it didn't come out until early next year. I'm still trying to finish a level after having bought the Monster, History and Music packs. I'm still taking my time to enjoy what LBP already has to offer; so I can wait for water.
