http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/4638/aphotow.jpgThis is the fourth level in my Cause and Effect series, a series of 'Rube Goldberg Devices'

Just sit back and watch it. NOTE: Play off-line, 1-Player for best results.

ok were gonna check it out

Edit: You need to go back and play it because in its current state it breaks half way through still really good though which is what we have come to expect from this series.

It breaks just after the 3 rows of dominoes bit.

I've played it like 15 times in the past 6 hours, never had it break.

Is it the part at the very end where the big domino hits the catapult and the ball just doesn't quite make it up? I came across that once yesterday.

I played this last night with 3 players and it broke in the same spot (Robo mentioned above) like 4 times. We thought maybe it couldn't handle more than 2 players so we had the 3rd player turn their controller off. It worked. We then tried 4 players and it broke near the end and couldn't record our 4 player score. Glad to see that you fixed it since then!

EDIT: Revisited this level last night with 2 other buddies. It worked perfectly!

Haha, this was very entertaining. I love how the ball gets launched and caught by the switch at the very beginning. Did you get lucky or plan it that way!? The camera angles were silky smooth, and the fact that I didn't notice them moving was amazing. This must've taken ages to tweak!

Great work.

Great stuff - very skilful and very enjoyable to marvel at. Love how the piston/winch/whatever pauses every so often, then some action takes place, then the cart moves on.

Excellent.

Well, that was absolutely awesome. Best one yet. I can't even tell you what part I liked the best. My dad kept asking me why I was saying "holy @#$%!" in the other room. 5 stars, tagged it Hoists for awesomeness and hearted the living bejeepers out of it ! Great work, again!2009-10-28 00:54:00

First off, TT, Your a Genius.

Rube goldberg designs are always a Nich? of mine and you are just great at them.

Sadly i had a break 8 times with 4 people but i persisted on my own and loved it.

Absolutely amazing work laddie!

Heh, yeah, that part happened on accident. I was trying to make the ball just hit the switch then fall into the catapult, then that happened and I was like 'nice' But it was still a pain to get it to do that consistently.

Just checked it out (alt account) and it's really cool. Great work and really complex even compared to the predecessors and that's saying something! Just love watching these and marveling at your precision. No breaks to report either. 5 stars & hearted. 2009-10-28 08:18:00

Well it was great TT, but I was'nt suprised at all seeing how good the other ones in the series are. This one was definetly the best, you've a real knack with them mechanisms, and not "playing" a level has never been so much fun

Awesome work yet again. It somehow felt calmer and more chilled out than your others which I liked. Some really great parts in there. All to be expected of course from you

5 stars!

Great, the cause and efect levels are brilliant.

Fantastic complexity. Really imaginative, I was impressed how it all seemed to work perfectly.

Hats off to you sir.

Just "played" it. I left you a nice, lengthy comment on LBP, but, guess what... it got censored -.-

Anyways.

This level is pure awesomeness. In my opinion, it's definitely the best part of the series so far - and that's a lot, considering the outstandingness (new word creation ftw!) of your other Rube Goldbergs.

For a follow-up, I'd recommend going a different path. Rather than involving switch- and wire-based mechanisms, you could try building a purely physics-based contraption. This doesn't mean you couldn't use any sensors or wires; but try giving the spectator the feeling that any action is caused by a physical event. Like pitagora suitchi, for example. I think this could even take it a step further.

Nonetheless, this is clearly the best Rube Goldberg device out there on LBP so far. Keep it up! :star::star::star::star::star: and hearted.

Funny you should say that because that's exactly what I had planned for the next part whenever I make it.

No buttons, switches, pistons, no silhouette, 2 or 3 layers.

no silhouette that would take the cause and effect series into mind blowingness 2.5D there has never been an LBP level like that......wait most of them are like that LOL2009-10-30 09:13:00

Darn, beaten to it. I love the idea, but, after the first one, I was really longing for you to make it non-switch based. When a rolling ball-carrier hits a button that sends if flying, I can't help but think it'd have been better if it'd hit a big ball which rolled on a loop and struck the bottom of the carrier, sending it flying.

I hope you'll be able to precise enough to make that number 5 happen. Physics in LBP are a bit tricky.
Anyhow, was just coming by to tell you how much I liked your level here. Actually I should say "levels" because they are all good really.

Yeah, the most trouble areas of all the C&E's are the parts with pure physics. I'll do my best, however it may not be the full length that 3 and 4 are. But I'm gonna at least make it longer than the first 2.2009-11-05 07:08:00

I got round to playing it eventually. It was very good and seemed to be more complex than the others.
