Simultaeneous Switch?

Is there a way to make four switches that need to be activated at the same exact time?2009-10-27 12:49:00

Sure. Set each of them to one-shot, to emit a magnetic key with 0.1s lifetime on darkmatter near a magnetic switch, run the 4 magnetic switches through one of Rtm's fancy 4-input AND gates, and viola!

There's probably room for optimization there, but the principal should work.

Oh, emitters, you silly goose!

Depends on what type of switch you are working with. The button works the best, but the other can be modified to work the same.

Regardless, you will need a 4-way AND gate, however you see fit. If using buttons, set all of them to directional and wire them to the pistons in the AND gate. It will only trigger when all of the buttons are stood upon.

For two way switches, you can just set up a piece of elastic to pull on the switch, so it will only be activated if a player is holding onto it. Then, you'd wire it up the same way as the button method.

Grab switches would be the same as the buttons. Directional inputs to the 4-way AND gate.

The trick is to not make your AND gate in a way that it also serves as a Permanent gate. Let's get out of the stone age, shall we...? Lol, kidding, but your AND gate could look something like this:

AND Gate (4 inputs shown, but will work with any number)

Dark Matter moving Part
|------| |------|
| gS |wwwwwwwwwww| gK |
| | | |
| |wwwwwwwwwww| |
| | | |
| |wwwwwwwwwww| |
| | | |
| |ppppppppppp| |
|------| |------|

where:
wwwww is a winch, set to strength 10,
ppppp is a piston set to stiff / strength 5
gK is a green mag key
gS is a green mag switch (set to invert)

Set your inputs to directional and connect them to the chains and the piston. gS is your output.

An easier way would be just to put 4 switches (set to inverted) on dark mater. Glue some dissolve on it and stick the key on the dissolve. when you want to activate the 4 switchs just dissolve the ummmm disolve

EDIT: sorry, just re-read the OP. man, I thought you were simply looking for a 4 out perm switch.... sorry

Lol, it's okay wex. I almost called you out, but you beat me to it.

I took the question to mean four two-way switches flipped at exactly the same moment, hence the 0.1s lifetime emitters. Oh well, at least now I don't have to draw the diagram.

Anyway, I'm sure there's enough options here for the original poster to solve his actual problem.

That's how I read it too. I'd probably go for a 4-input OR switch (the classic 4 pistons with keys around a DM square with a switch on it:

Invert the magnetic switch and set all four pistons to 0.1s / stiff / flipper out. Connect 1 shot inputs to them.

The output will only activate if all four one shot inputs are triggered at the same time.

Hmm, I was under the impression that pistons don't accept one-shot input, but I might be confused with something else.2009-10-27 15:19:00

They do when they are flipper out or in. *The more you know...2009-10-27 15:22:00

Wow. That's a bit to process. I am using buttons, so I need a 4-way AND switch, correct?

That's correct. The design shown a little lower by rtm is easier to understand but does the same thing, as long as the pistons are not set to flipper. You want standing on the button to extend each piston with a key on it, so each button should be directional. By setting the mag key switch in the middle to be inverted, it will only activate when all the keys have been extended (or all the buttons are pressed).2009-10-27 19:13:00

EDIT: figured out the answer to my question, nevermind.
EDIT 2: Okay, I got it working. Thanks for the help.
