Seeing things from LBP in the real world...

Archive: 49 posts

I mean like, songs that you'd not know about otherwise, and things like that. Just things that you see as "references", even when they are CLEARLY not.

Here're mine form today:

Hearing My Patch over the credits of Unbelievable Truths on Radio 4

Seeing the new bread from Kingsmill (was it kingsmill, or hovis? Or something else) called: Little BIG loaf!

Funny you should mention this. Yesterday, I was walking down the street, minding my own business, when suddenly, out of nowhere, a rocket cheetah came speeding down the road being chased by a skulldozer!

...yup.

I was driving home the one day behind a truck that had bottles in the back. The bottles caps were facing outward, and looked very much like blue sound objects. I turned to my husband and said to him "I was just going to tell you that the person in front of us forgot to hide their sound objects"

Also, I was in Red Lobster a little while and there were awesome lights hanging on the ceiling. I thought, just for a moment, i wonder what level you get those in.

Oh yeah, I get that, too. Yesterday I was wondering which stone material the hospital wall and floor were. 2009-10-27 13:41:00

I do this a lot. Only last week I was in the supermarket and I noticed some hanging signs swaying from side to side...I thought 'how are they moving?' for a split second in my head I actually answered 'oh it's just pistons obviously'. Before thinking 'no jack, no!!'2009-10-28 01:14:00

Hearing the band Little Big Town always reminds me of LBP.

I also watched an episode of "Man VS Food" that showed someone laying burlap sacks over oysters for cooking. I started thinking, "Gee, that guy must really like LBP!) .

And almost everytime I see a sock monkey or Gundam (I blame you, gevurah)... well, you know.

Like Sara and Jack mentioned, for me I don't notice ACTUAL references, as in music - but rather, the "LBP on the brain" reminders, a result of just playing too much.

I went to the local amusement park's halloween "fright night", and there were a bunch of animatronic monsters. I broke down every one in my brain with where the pistons and motor bolts were.

I also look at textures of buildings and will think of which material they were made with.

Kind of like when you play Tetris for hours, and then afterwards you see tetris shapes everywhere and want to fit them together.

Or when you play GTA too much, and are tempted to steal a car and run over a sidewalk full of pedestrians.

I do this with all games, really, including Katamari, which I"ve been playing a lot recently .Why, just yesterday I drove over an empty potato chip bag with my car because I felt I needed to "pick it up" to increase my katamari's size. lol.2009-10-28 03:16:00

At least it was only a potato chip bag! That woman with the baby stroller is DEFINITELY worth more points!

yes, and it would increase your size more, too.

I guess it could be worse though. I could be seeing things from Fallout 3 in real life or something. Knowing me, I'd probably go into VATS mode every time I walked past someone on the street. ^_^

O_o You have some issues Kappa! XD

I saw some lights like the blue ones used in the bunker (With the electricity round them) and I thought, 'I better stay away from those... it's dangerous.'

I almost told someone to be careful and then I realised what I was thinking.

Haha, you guys are too funny. I don't necessarily have these things happen, but I do see things in the real world and work out how difficult it would be to make it in LBP. For example, just today, i saw a garbage truck driving by, and I worked out which parts would go in which layer... Then, on campus, I saw some architecture that I did the same thing for. It's a curse I tell you!

Another one... In physics class, we were talking about a mass hanging on two springs, side by side. The first thing I thought of was to use a zero strength piston to keep them in line. Bad, Matt!

Heh, when will we see the garbage truck in your level?

The last part, I do that on purpose. I've been looking at skyscraper architecture for a city-based level, and whenever I see an interesting building, real life or TV, I break it down to see how easy it would be to accomplish in LBP.

hmmm i was painting a picture yesterday (dont ask why, i found a coloring book and some paints) and as i was painting a carrot, a bit of red leaked in to the orange because it was wet. I was like ' awww shoot' and then i tried to rewind time inside my head. When i found out i was in the real world i just sat there and was like 'what? what just happened?' its really wierd that for a second i acctually thought time was going to reverse. Maybe im slowly slipping into the clutches
of insanity, maybe im allready there. I reckon littlebigplanets a conspiricy to get the entire population to try and open there popits, and then Mm will have control over the ENTIRE OMNIVERSE! *

I was at the Museum of Science a couple days ago, looking at a massive Rube Goldberg machine. For a second, I thought to myself, "How did they manage to get moving objects in those glitched back layers?" And then I realized I'm going crazy and I continued on with my day. 2009-10-28 11:34:00

Yeah. doesn't work in real life.

I saw somenes gate and one of the squirly patterns looked like an LBP swirly cloud. Then I saw a pattern on my kitchen table clth that looked like alot of 'c' stickers stuck together. AND I saw A plate with a flower on and the middle of the flower looked like that wierd circle sticker (wow, that was vague) and squigly linesaround it. Also there was a supermarket advert that used the left-bank-two music...2009-10-29 20:05:00

Seriously this thread is hilarious!
Your little stories are so funny guys!

I don't have a precise example, but LBP often pops in my mind too,
when I see some textures, interesting objects, or some cool places with nice lighting etc...
and I always think how it could be done in the game...

Awesome! :hero:

"Now kids, let me just finish this before we start the lesson"
"But, sir..."
"Quiet, Johnny!"
"Sir we have PE now. You have been building that for the last 60 minutes."
"Oh... Did I, really? Hmmm, well ok than. We'll just continue this in the next lesson."

Oh, and for me...

Nothing really good yet, but in a dream I had, it was valentines day, and I was like: "Stop H4Hing! You're ruining the cool levels! NUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!"

Then I woke up.

it had all of these Daniel Pemberton songs on

the moon tutorial music,
Appliance of science,
rock the jungle,
leaders of men,
and the LBP intro lol

If you want to hear this tune in next week or you might be able to find it on the BBC Iplayer.

Yeah, i was just flicking around through channels and heard My Advice (tutorial music) on that show.

It sure sounds strange hearing it anywhere else other than LBP!
