| Hey guys! As you may or may not know, I am a senior in High school and I plan on attending college for photography- I found a really cool little "contest" where the photographer enters a black and white picture and people vote for it to win the prize. It's not a photography competition at ALL, it's a "word-spreading" competition! Whoever can wrangle up the most votes wins. It even tracks where your votes are coming from! Seriously, it's absolutely ridiculous, the only thing being measured is the contestant's internet-savvy to wrangle online votes and exploit the voting system in place. I'm more than happy to help you out actually, if I have any sort of opportunity to help a fellow LBPCentral member get a cash scholarship, I'm all over it! It's not like you designed the thing. I'm glad to hear that a panel of judges chooses instead of just letting the winner take all - I imagine they're treating the voting process as something like a "narrowing" process - let the community take it down to a list of top photos, and then choose from those, as you mentioned. Which is still a shame, as the top list of photos is again, probably in the top not based on the strength of the photography, but based on the savvy of the user. That being said, I'll vote again, and hope you pull through! EDIT: Wow, I just clicked on the competition link, and you're the very first one listed under "newly popular", with your "viral" rating through the roof at "red hot!" you've got a strong entry, I'm looking over some of them, and while there's definitely some stiff competition, there are also more than a few "point-and-shoots" that just don't stand a chance.
