Halloween is just around the corner...

Archive: 52 posts

I don't think I've ever been this psyched for halloween in a long time. You see, I usually act like the scrooge of halloween and when small children knock at the door I give them a digestive or something.

This year though, I'm pretty excited, I've even ordered a SAW mask to wear for no particular reason.

So, anyone else strangely looking forward to halloween this year?

Same. I'll probably watch Nightmare Before Christmas or something, but that's about it.

Scaring little kids is fun. Just set up one of those scarecrows people hide in, put the candy on its lap. then when they expect the scarecrow to jump or something, scare them from behind.2009-10-26 01:18:00

I'm going to see Evil Dead: The Musical! No kidding, this is for real. We're sitting in the "splatter section" as well. First few rows wear ponchos and get splashed with gore during the show.2009-10-26 02:10:00

Eh, if my mom drags me along with her and my little brothers to go trick-or-treating in my grandma's neighborhood, then I guess I'll be watching TV in my grandma's house the whole time. I don't necessarily dislike Halloween, I just don't like the fact that people spend money on candy and decorations...
Personally, I don't even like candy. It's bad for you anyway
If I get to stay home I'll probably spend most of my time on the PS3 or computer.

I'll wait by the door with a big box of chocolate. then when some kid says 'trick or treat' i'll say 'trick, i dare you'. Then i will eat the chocolate infront of their crying faces.

And if they do try and trick me, i'll shoot them.

I'm going to take my friends 3 kids trick or treating (highlight of the holiday) then play a ton of Halloween LBP levels. Sounds like fun to me. 2009-10-27 20:10:00

That sounds like something I could get into, as well. Have any good suggestions for movies to watch? I'll likely only watch a couple, depending on when I start, etc. but I need something to do this Halloween.

My to-do list on Hallow's Eve:
-Carve a pumpkin
-Place trip-wire explosive in pumpkin
-Fill a bucket with King-Size candy (my neighborhood is the LAST place anyone would go Trick-or-Treatin'. But it's fun to provide the motherload of candy for those who give a care )
-Get Shaun of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow & Nightmare on Elm Street to watch on Halloween.
-Litter driveway with pop-pops (heheheheheh, those things are fun to play with )
-Attempt to recreate avy into costume form

I don't really do much for halloween, but I'm practicing up the theme/overture from Nightmare Before Christmas (by ear).
Also, my brother off in university is dressing up as Neo. He's getting the glasses, black coat, and everything. He even looks kinda like neo (not that much though haha)!

Might I suggest watching Sleepy Hollow on mute with a peanut gallery of funny friends pulling an MST3K job on it? Sleepy Hollow really comes to life when you ad-lib your own dialogue while watching. Seriously fun times.

I love walking around the neighbourhood in the evening to see all the major set-ups some people have. Some people in nearby areas go totally all out - they could seriously charge for what they have on display! But they don't 2009-10-28 02:40:00

I don't really celebrate Halloween anymore. It is a lot of fun though.

I live in a neighborhood where there aren't that many kids. Plus, a lot of parents take their kids to either a local church or community center instead of going door-to-door now a days. Still, I did have fun celebrating Halloween in college. My friends and I would go to several Halloween parties. I guess I could share my favorite one.

Don't be too impressed. I usually look like a curly haired nerd. (I'm proud to be one.) I just straightened my hair and my friend was kind enough to apply some cool blue make-up (I'm not good with the make up.). I think I was supposed to be a blue fairy. This was taken my sophomore year of University.

et voila!

Hmm... checking over the trade newsletter, in the weekly agenda at the back, it does indeed say: "Please remember to lie to non-union members about cake at public functions. Last week we had someone mention that there wouldn't actually be cake at the open house, and not only did fewer people show up, but those who did were not nearly as angry and frustrated as they should have been. Belinda, the Blue Fairy of Joy and Happiness, had a very hard time feeding her near-insatiable appetite for anger and disappointment. Please everyone, remember to lie about the cake, for Belinda's sake. Thank you."

Wow, I never realized that working as a Blue Fairy was so interesting!

I recently got a bad haircut which my friend describes as 'A British Orphan' or 'John Lennon'.

That second comment gave me an idea.

I went to see Evil Dead: The Musical tonight! I was at the far end of the splatter section, so I did get some gore-splash action, but nothing - NOTHING like the poor ******** at the front corners of the theater. Oh my GOD. This explains the people I've seen on the train in the city casually travelling, going about their evening, reading the paper, but covered from head to toe in blood. HEAD TO TOE.

It was a very, very fun production. The actor playing Ash looked the part, but I really somehow doubt he's a real-deal deadite geek. He was SO flamboyantly theatrical - I thought it was to contrast with the bad-assery of Ash's turn later in the story, but no - when he got to the "Ash" lines later on, he just as flamboyantly played them. It was honestly just weird, I think he was cast mainly for his looks, because he was NOT Ash otherwise.

yes, I realize this is Evil Dead: The Musical. But the dude playing Jake was the prize of the troupe - if it were my choice, it'd have been him playing Ash, even though he looked more like Ryan Gosling than Bruce Campbell and seemed to miss a lot of dance cues. As an actor, he was WAY more on tone, and WAY funnier than the dude playing Ash.

Anyway, who cares, it's Evil Dead The MUSICAL! How can you NOT love it? In the bloodbath of a finale, in which Ash takes out all of the deadites who converge on the necronomicon, blood was literally raining on the crowd, and the deadites came into the audience, splattering the crowd with gallons of blood, and some of them even diving into the audience, writhing around in demon convulsions on the audience's laps. Yes, this turned into one of those Candarian Demon Blood parties your parents warned you about.

Halloween isn't celebrated on this side of the pond anywhere near to the extent it is in America.

Bonfire Night is only a few days away though, I'm looking forward to seeing some fireworks!

Ok, some cocky little 15 year old ****ers (about 5 of them) came to my house. I was the only one in, and they said trick or treat. I, as i said i would, said trick. They proceeded to laugh at me, and threw an egg or two at my house. I said ' wait there a second', went inside, grabbed my eggs, and chased the cheeky c**** down the street, before smashing and egg slowly into the top of a couple of their heads.

They stopped laughing after they realized i was actually bigger, older, stronger and faster than them.

Not many people came to my house after that

So they had a bag for candy and a bag full of eggs? Or they like, came back?

Pretty sweet though. Eggers getting an egg to the back of their heads.

I, myself, the only one in the house (a house with 0 candy fyi), ignored everyone. . although I only heard the bell ring once which was odd. I should have just answered to the people and acted all confused like I didn't know what Halloween was lol.

So, how did everyone celebrate Halloween?
The holiday has no real meaning where I live but over the years it has kinda infiltrated our society in some form.

I spend my evening watching a lot of old horror movies, most of them starring Vincent Price or belonging to the library of classic Hammer films.
