0.1 Steps on "Emitting Speed" Setting
Archive: 10 posts
While editing one of my old levels made back in the first Beta, I made an interesting discovery: Obviously, we were able to change the speed setting of emitters in steps of 0.1 back in the days! I found an emitter with speed set to 2.1. I played around with it worked fine - 2.1 was the real emitting speed. 2.0 let the emitted object fly less far, whereas setting it to 2.5 let the object fly further. To put it simple: Changing the speed setting by steps of 0.1 was possible back in the Beta, and such values do still apply correctly in the full version of the game. So, why can't we have that feature back? It does still work perfectly, it's just that emitters can only be adjusted in steps of 0.5. | 2009-10-25 21:09:00 Author: Treas ![]() Posts: 223 |
use the right analogue stick, or does that just change lifetime![]() | 2009-10-25 21:14:00 Author: lifeiscrapislife ![]() Posts: 396 |
To clarify, by "emitting speed", I take it you don't mean the speed at which it emits things (such as "one emission per second"), but rather the magnitude of the velocity at which an object is omitted, correct? | 2009-10-25 21:14:00 Author: Jagrevi ![]() Posts: 1154 |
You can change the speed in small increments by using the analog. Oh wait, are you talking about something else? | 2009-10-25 23:04:00 Author: warlord_evil ![]() Posts: 4193 |
Nope, emit speed goes up by 2.5 with the D-pad, and .5 with the analogue stick. There is no longer an option to set the emit speed in .1 increments. I knew this to be true, but just figured it was the way it is... | 2009-10-25 23:42:00 Author: comphermc ![]() Posts: 5338 |

I knew this to be true, but just figured it was the way it is... If this is the case, I would very much like to get my hands on a 2.1 emitter. | 2009-10-25 23:53:00 Author: Jagrevi ![]() Posts: 1154 |
Can't help you there I'm afraid... Treas!? | 2009-10-26 00:11:00 Author: comphermc ![]() Posts: 5338 |
SAVE AS MODEL. Then see if it works, then we have another "glitch". | 2009-10-26 00:19:00 Author: chezhead ![]() Posts: 1063 |
You can set to 0.1 etc with analogue but it's TOO precise so you'll miss where you want it set alot | 2009-10-26 11:59:00 Author: Unknown User ![]() |
Thanks for clarifying this, Jagrevi! Yes, I did indeed mean the "linear velocity". I'll capture the 2.1 emitter and give it away as an object. On a side note, if anyone happens to remember: Could we still change the linear velocity by 0.1 in the unpatched LBP, or was it only a Beta "feature"? If LBP 1.0 enabled changes of 0.1, someone could delete all patches, create an emitter board with all speeds (ranging from 0.1 to 9.9, for example), save it and then reapply all patches. That would be great! | 2009-10-26 12:34:00 Author: Treas ![]() Posts: 223 |
