Microchip

Archive: 12 posts

It would be neat if instead of having to create logic with loads of pistons, magnetic keys, winches, motor bolts and who knows what else, if there was a single object that you could place in your level and create simple scripts for it to follow in its tweak menu, like a microchip.

I don't know how this would be implemented, just throwing it out there.

Maybe you could have options in the tweak menu to choose the switch type and you could then choose how many inputs it has and for each input you have, a gold square could appear on the chip and then you could wire the stuff to that.2009-10-25 21:51:00

Here's a thread on it: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=15776

And here is a very thorough idea for implementation of a logic board setup: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=9134

Ahh, thank you!

I guess they're variation on the same theme, though what I had in mind was having one object that you can tweak to do anything, rather than a circuit board which sounds kinda unwieldy and confusing in the linked post.

Yeah, I do have to agree with a simplified way of complicated switches. And believe me, its not easy making switches, for example, where you can only select 2 things, and then everything else gets erased, play my Toy Car race 2 BETA, for that example. PS: The BETA key is in Toy Car race.2009-10-31 20:42:00

I don't know what you mean, but you can litterally shrink a giant logic board to the size of sackboy's fist through the emmiter glitch if that helps. A common misconception is that glitch only is useful for shrinking checkpoints and similar mm objects but you can shrink and reshrink objects smaller than their normal limits 2009-11-02 01:06:00

That will break everything a lot of the time though, especially as you try to shrink more complicated logic. Also, it's impact on the thermometer is just as pronounced.

Hmm, maybe the tweak menu for such an object can have separate pages for each of the outputs. Under each page you could select or set up the sort of logic you want from different options like "permanent switch," "randomise output," etc, how long you want it to last and how many times you want it to repeat before moving on to the next piece of logic in your sequence.

This is how I imagine the tweak menu would look:

Well, put simply, that is way too complicated to be user-friendly to the community. LBP is all about accessibility and ease of use, but with the option of user-created complexity. I don't even foresee MM taking the time to cater to the minority [read: logic folk] in this regard.2009-11-18 02:16:00
