Ok Seriously.... Does anyone actually use this stupid thing! i do tend to use it time to time.... but usually only for text.... It really actually makes my creating harder.... weirly enough its ment to make it easyer, but id like to hear what the community have to say about it. Go on feel free to chat!2009-10-25 18:01:00

Shouldn't this be in everything else LBP?
Anyway, I use it loads. Very useful tool for shaping things and making sure things are flush.

Umm... I think I can speak on behalf of Jackofcourse (lol) when I say that this is one of the most helpful tools for making a good environment.

If anyone has played or seen my levels too, they will notice that it would be IMPOSSIBLE to replicate the style without the corner editing tool. I consider it to be the simplest and most effective tool for shaping absolutely anything.

No idea what you are talking about Tawarf.

What everyone else said.

It's great in grid mode for geometric shapes, and great outside of create mode for non-geometric shapes. It gives you far greater control over your vertex count, which is often what pushes many creations into thermogeddon.

Basically, corner edit tool == win.

corner edit tool is epic, it has endless possibilities and allows shapes to be made in seconds that would take much longer to be made with the generic shapes, if you have difficulities with it use small grid, that just aligns everything perfectly2009-10-25 19:00:00

A recent example that comes to mind is jump_button's Black and White Planet, which have shapes nearly impossible to make without the use of the corner editing tool. You can also use the tool to straighten out unneeded edges to increase thermometer efficiency.2009-10-25 19:07:00

I have to admit, I used to think it was stupid as well, I literally never used it. But after I heard how useful it truly was, I gave it a try. Now I cannot imagine not using it! I am now a changed man. It's just the evolution of the creator, you have to get used to things as they come and as you get better, you will realize the potential for all of the tools.2009-10-25 19:38:00

I'll be honest, I didn't find it useful for the first few months, but now I don't think I could create without it.

Edit: Now I look dumb, thanks FullGorr!

Lol, no problem. You literally posted that about 10 seconds after me. XD Anyways, it just emphasizes my point. As you grow as a creator, you will realize the potential and usefulness for all of the tools. Kinda like wine... I don't know how you old fogies like that stuff!

I used to cringe when I tried to use the thing, but for the past few months it is my favorite tool and how I create most all of my objects. For quite a few things, I simply create a square block and then form it to shape with the corner editor.

As others have said, using this tool you can make more complex shapes without a ton of unnecessary points which drastically cuts down on your thermo. It also allows you to make much larger complex shapes without having the "Cannot add any more to this object" alert.

It takes patience to master as well as lots of practice, but once you have gotten the hang of it, you will realize how incredible it is and how it is one of the best tools you have for making and changing shapes.

The corner editing tool is the most useful tool in littlebigplanet. If it weren't for that tool, our crystal cave level would have been half the length that it was. If you want to get the most out of a level, corner editing is the way to go! ^_^2009-10-26 13:10:00

Like the OP, I too thought it was useless and frustrating to say the least. It wasn't until fairly recently that I ran the tool across a vehicle I was working on that I realized it's real value. I had assumed my vehicles lines were straight and flawelessly accurate in where their points meet... I couldn't have been more wrong. The corner editor showed me that there were multiple imperfections on my surfaces that were eating up thermo.

Unlike others, I don't genereally use it to shape objects... but rather to go in after basic forming is done and clean up my work to ensure that there are as few vertices as possible.

At first it's not evident. It's not the tool that hits you the first time you create a level that's for sure.
I remember I wasn't using it at all in the first months the game was out but today I simply can't go without. I literally shape EVERYTHING with this tool.

I didn't get it at first either. It's confusing until you play around with it for a while but once you know how to use it you won't be able to live without it.

Take a regular square of material in a blank level template and just mess around with it for awhile. Couple of things that took me a while to figure out:

- if your material comes in contact with gas you will not be able to corner edit again unless you move the gas.
- sometimes when corner editing around an existing shape or object the shape your working on will "intersect" with the existing shape or object. If this happens you usually can't continue to corner edit. You can rewind to before the intersection happened to fix or move the shape your editing to continue to edit the corners.
- you can rotate around the points/edges of your object by using the R1 & L1 buttons (handy on small objects)
- you can line up points and delete extra ones by selecting a point and sliding it into the next point on your shape.
- You can cut material by moving a point beyond the existing shape - essentially it makes two objects when it cuts.

Seriously play around with it. You'll get the hang of it and your thermo usage will be much more efficient in terms of complex shapes and you'll gain much more control over your creations. Good Luck!

I always use it. I couldn't imagine it not being there when you're trying
to make decent objects or environment.

I didn't know you could use the shoulder buttons to select vertices either Morgana, cheers.

Thanks for that Morgana, mrv has just tried it, he didn't know you could do that, only thing is, it's R1 & L1.

Considering that everything I do, make or shape involves the corner editing tool...Yeah...I disagree...I know how some may feel frustrated at first, but it just takes a bit of practice. Now I honestly cannot build anything without it 2009-10-26 20:29:00

Like everyone else here, I think it's THE most useful tool in the popit. I find it very useful if I need to glue a large shape to front of moving stuff. Usually if you have moving parts, like platforms etc then the glueing a large piece of material tends to stop all moving parts from working. I simply stick a very small part onto non moving scenery, then use the corner edit tool to reshape it to any size. All moving stuff behind carries on it's merry way and is totally unaffected.
It's also very useful for allowing you to view any vertices hidden behind other walls/scenery.
I think we need a tutorial on this tool for those who are missing out on it's uses.
Anyone?

I likewise use this thing ALL THE TIME.

For quite a few things, I simply create a square block and then form it to shape with the corner editor.

I actually do this exact thing, but with practically EVERYTHING I do in the game. If I need a rectangle, I'll just smear a square shape. But even then, I tend to like to add a bit of "character" to all of my shapes by skewing them just slightly with the corner edit tool, so you'll rarely come across perfect shapes in my newer stuff because I use the tool all over the place.

- you can rotate around the points/edges of your object by using the R1 & L1 buttons (handy on small objects)

I actually do this more often with really HUGE objects - Ever corner-edit a big piece like the ground, and have to slooowly drag your cursor aaall the way to the next corner? Just use the R1/L1 buttons and get it done in a flash!

The thing also about this trick is that you have to have a corner SELECTED to use the feature, and when you press the button, it auto-selects the next corner - so you don't have to press X to select it, you can immediately move the left stick to tweak the placement. If you get used to this feature, you can corner edit shapes, especially big ones, BLAZINGLY fast.

Zoom zoom!!!

It really is quick once you get used to that feature. It's probably the only thing that would make me skeptical about keyboard and mouse editing and I would love to see keyboard and mouse editing.

Not to mention that the shoulder buttons really highlight those rogue vertices. If you've cut shapes up, combined them etc, your corner vertices are often actually 3-4 vertices all close together. Just tap the shoulders to count them and delete extras.

I used this tool to make the 2026 aerostation project, basically in it's entirity.

Not even exaggerating, lol.

amazingly useful. It helps to keep the thermo down as i've seen with my latest level (which is huge for how small the thermo is).
Its a tool that when you see it you hate once you get the hang of it you can't live with out it.
