Yeah I saw it a week or two ago. It was pretty funny, some parts had the whole theatre clapping (that was great) and there were roars of laughter throughout.

Overall, a pretty decent film. Not what you would expect when you first hear of it...

Haven't seen it yet, but I want to. Good to hear it's actually funny, unlike some "funny" movies where all the good jokes are in the previews... *coughyearonecough*2009-10-25 14:44:00

I saw this on Wednesday and was quite sceptical but I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing. I have a feeling it won't stand up to a lot of watches and wil never reach my list of favourite movies, but I'd certainly recomend it to anyone who isn't easily offended 2009-10-25 19:29:00

I really enjoyed this movie. I thought it was funny, but it wasn't so funny that it lost it's identity as a good zombie flick.
The theater went into hysterics when Bill Murray died.

It shouldn't be compared to shaun of the dead. They aren't even remotely similar. Other than the fact that they are zombie comedies. Which would seem like a similarity except that the zombie films they are referencing are very different styles and the humour is of a completely different type. So no similarities that aren't superficial. Comparing the two is just stupid IMO.

If pushed I would go for shaun of the dead though

I had a decent time actually, it's undeniably a fun movie. With a few really... really weird choices...
For one, the gleeful destruction of the native art store. My friend and I slowly looked at each other wide-eyed sharing a "what in the hell were they thinking??" moment.

slight spoiler:
When they get on that hydraulic tower ride and strap themselves in with guns in hand, I don't know about you guys but my audience erupted in laughter at how unbelievably stupid an idea that was. In what universe does that seem like a good idea when zombies are running after you?

Overall, definitely a fun time. I don't think I'd revisit it though.

TO answer your question in spoilers Teebonesy

That's what girls in horror movies do - stupid things. I saw it as mostly satirical TBH.

Well like rtm223 said, they probably did it to be satirical, but then again, it made for a dramatic climax.2009-10-26 00:52:00

See, I didn't get that part at all as a parody of horror movies - I got it as another way to have fun with the setting of an amusement park in a zombie flick - which they did fairly thoroughly in that sequence, what with Woody Harrelson picking off zombies on the roller coaster (that looked unbelievably fun. they should make real roller coasters and give you laser guns to shoot at zombie targets.)

It's just that that one happened to be thoroughly ridiculous.

Duel: The Haunted House Strikes Back! is an attraction at the Alton Towers theme park near the village of Alton in Staffordshire. It is located in the former Haunted House and is based on a traditional haunted house, but with the riders shooting laser guns at the animated figures, which shoot back.

From

It's not really a proper rollercoaster, but it's the same idea.

Man, I had to watch it less than legally but I would definitely pay to see it again. I can't wait to see what the special features on the DVD are gonna be. It made me think of Left 4 Dead, I've never played it though.2009-10-27 08:24:00
