Outlaw Flyers Inc.?

Archive: 135 posts

As the title says, welcome to Outlaw Flyers Inc.™! Due to my fascination in flying contraptions, I've been brainstorming with wacky and wild ideas lately to make the latest flying contraption in LBP. Progress has picked up, and we're proud to say that we now have 5 models on display! There's no strings attached (i.e. pistons, rockets, catapults) but instead, each model uses a new design that uses glass emitters and peach floaties. So now, ladies and gentlesacks, I present to you our machines!:

Flyers
Tomahawk Mk.1
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2732/4041225422_d0d40ec6c6_o.jpg
Class: High-Flying
Stability: Stable
Weight: Middleweight/Semi-Heavy
Size: 10-11 Sacks long, 3 1/2-4 Sacks high
Combat-Ready: Yes; 1 forward-mounted paint minigun
Testing Phase: Cleared
Description: This unique helicopter draws heavy influence from the Bell 47 and the UH-1 Iroquois (aka "Huey") models. Although not the first helicopter invented in LBP, it is perhaps the first capable of combat. Mounted with a minigun in the front, the helicopter can fire at targets without the need of grabbing another button. It is also the first that can be destroyed in combat. Mounted behind the cabin is a combustible fuel tank (basic trigger-explosive encased) that detonates when it comes in contact with a paintball. A tutorial will come out soon explaining how to operate the machine. Note: the Tomahawk flies slightly forward if not directed, and it's back propeller can be crushed if enough force is applied. Fly with caution.

Canuck Mk.1
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4045/4291987544_89904653f4_o.jpg
Class: High-Flying
Stability: Semi-Stable (1 player)/ Stable (2 players)
Weight: Heavy
Size: 13-18 Sacks long, 3-4/12 Sacks High
Combat-Ready: Yes; 1 rear-mounted M60 machine gun
Testing Phase: Cleared
Description: Inspired by Incineratior's mintary-heavy creations, this helicopter is based off of the CH-47 Chinook. With a much bulkier build and dual-props, it flies much faster, but falls faster as well. Mounted on the rear is a powerful machine gun, capable of spewing paintballs at a record 420 ppm (paintballs-per-minute). It is built specifically to fly with 2 players (one on each end), but has the carrying capacity for 4 (with the emitters adjusted, mind you). The Canuk is completed with a pair of wheels and a central grabbing area for deploying on the go. Onlookers beware when the Canuk is in the air...

Hovers
HoverBoard Proto
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3282/4041225424_306ef71005_o.jpg
Class: Low-Hover
Stability: Sensitive
Weight: Semi-Heavy
Size: 5-6 Sacks long, 3/4 Sacks high
Combat-Ready: No
Testing Phase: Cleared
Description: Unlike most hoverboards, this one has no rockets and is completely unassisted. Using the same technology as the Tomahawk, this board manages to hover a cm or two off the ground. The board is rather large due to the tech involved, and is VERY sensitive to your position on the board. Incredible patience is required to achieve balance, and only then can actual "riding" occur. Slight misposition can flip the board, though ending up beneath it does not cause fatality. This is only a prototype, and is certainly not the final product. Constant updates will be added to improve handling and stability.

HoverBoard Freestyle
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=915&pictureid=8129
Class: Mid-Hover
Stability: Very sensitive
Weight: Middleweight
Size: 5-6 Sacks long, 3/4 Sacks high
Combat-Ready: No
Testing Phase: Cleared
Description: With more powerful lift and sensitivity, the Freestyle is a board made specificly for the skater/surfer type. Instead of a grab switch, it switches off for a sack-sensor, allowing for automatic lift. But, it comes with less stability and is more prone to flipping. Balance is key when manuevering this model, so careful adjusting can mean the difference between a smooth ride and a crash. It comes equipped with a piston, which is used for self-righting and flipping around the board.

HoverBoard Crusader
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=915&pictureid=8919
Class: Mid-Hover
Stability: Semi-Stable
Weight: Semi-Light
Size: 5-6 Sacks long, 1 1/2-2 Sacks tall
Combat-Ready: Yes; 2 mounted paintguns
Testing Phase: Cleared
Description: The Crusader (aka Butt-Kicker) is a board specifically designed for combat, especially for multi-sided conflict. Surprisingly, its considerably lighter than the rest, making for quicker take-offs. This board also comes with a sack-sensor, making the board lift automatically It comes equipped with a center tower fixated to two mounted paintguns. They fire at a rate of 0.2 using my patented "Paint Bullet". The center tower also constitutes for a balance device, making controlling the vehicle easier when grabbed. Its height and added peripherals, though, make the model more prone to flipping, so control with care. In case it does flip, the board is equipped with TWO enlarged pistons, due to its awkward shape. Warning: Acts of malice and barbarianism can result from excess use of the board.

HoverBoard Blur
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=915&pictureid=8920
Class: High-Hover
Stability: Semi-Stable (rockets-off)/Extremely Unstable (rockets-on)
Weight: Heavy
Size: 5-6 Sacks long, 1-1 1/2 Sacks tall
Combat-Ready: No
Testing Phase: Cleared (Tested by littlebigdude805)
Description: Not for the faint of heart, the Blur (my personal favorite) is the fastest hoverboard ever created by "Sack"kind. Going from 0-BLARGH in 2 seconds, this board in incredibly fast, easily able to go from wall-to-wall in mere seconds! It sports a domed hatch, with each wall controlling their respective sides (left controls left, right controls right), and it ALSO has a sensor. But, since it trades balance off for speed, it is the absolute hardest to control, especially when rocketing. Only those perpetual balance and patience should attempt this board. Even I found it rather difficult to control. But, once mastered, you'll never have an experience quite like it.

These are my inventions so far. Feel free to commet and/or make suggestions. Keep checking this thread for new models and/or updates on current models. Tutorial levels and bunkers/galleries will be made soon. If you wish to make suggestions and/or are interested in featuring any of my models in future levels, please PM me or post in the thread.

I wish you all good day, and thank you for flying with Outlaw Flyers.

Signed,
Outlaw-Jack

Why thank you, S-A-S--! I picked this idea up from an old company I tried making in Runescape (was called Noob-Squad. Don't make me elaborate ). Don't take this all seriously, though; the company idea is just for fun and will operate like LBPC: The Game (as in, certain people do certain tasks and what not; there really isn't no due date unless you're the Test-Dummy). If you do make that logo (and if I'm impressed), I'll consider hiring you for Logo/Ad Artist.2009-10-25 08:28:00

Hmm... you think you can replace the plane with a helicopter? Just a suggestion for now (since the Tomahawk will most likely be the only flying machine for a while until I can find new ideas). And, if there's any way you can stretch it out a bit, that'd be much appreciated.

It seems like a funny idea. I really like to made flyers, flying things ecc.
I made the SixAxiS Engine, a really useful object for flyers. Here's the link of the thrrad + video: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=13030

I made a Flying Pirate Ship, it's quite complicated, good for 1~3 SackBoys, someone drives, someone shoots, and it has a telescope and i'm adding some (guided) missiles.
It can stay in mid-air without SackBoy's control, thank to the Engines.
If you're interested to make something together, i'll be happy to collaborate.

Doesn't matter. As long as it looks good. (Perhaps incorporate a Huey? I'll add an extra 15xp for that).

Thank you for your support, guys! As soon as I get a reasonable amount of time I'll sort out all of the jobs and then we can start on the first project. I'll also be making a group soon so that those employed can have a space to chat and collaborate on projects. Like I said earlier, it'll be ran like LBPC: The Game, only there's paychecks .

I'll post peoples' jobs ASAP.

Alright-E, time for clarifications:

@Dante95: Yes, I saw your post earlier. The innovations I'm looking for are unconventional and DON'T require rockets and/or jetpacks. The reason being is that I've seen millions of levels already incorporating the two in various way and here, we're trying to be original. I'll be looking at everyone's PSNs later today so I get a good idea on who I'll be hiring.

@theswweet: Yes, I've also seen your post earlier and am considering it. I take my time deciding on who'll do what and on decisions in general. I apologize in advance if I don't make my decision(s) right away.

@LittleBigSackBoy: You're hired. All you need is just edit your sig to advertise Outlaw Flyers Inc.?. You can use this to make a link to the thread:

[ URL=https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=p=316900#post316900"]Outlaw Flyers Inc.?![/URL]
^Just eliminate the space at the beginning.

I am for certain that by tonight/tomorrow that I'll have a good idea on who'll do what and then we can start on our first company project.

Kudos,
Outlaw-Jack
Founder/President of Outlaw Flyers Inc.?

P.S. If any other groups/companies are interested in partnerships, PM me.

I suggest you to check the ones beginning with CC0x to see some contraptions made by me, or Sack Quest, my last (made some months ago) level. Thank you 2009-10-27 22:32:00

Wow, this looks awesome! I'm excited to see what comes out of this! Is there any way to try the vehicles yet?

Also, I've gotta second Burnvictim's recommendation. PM goldenclaw13 - I'm sure he'd love to be the tester/breaker. He can break just about anything if there's a way it can be broken in even the most random ways. And he enjoys doing it too!

There is a way. You can PM me about using the product in an upcoming level, and then I can send you the product by key or PSN or by other means (so long as you don't:
1. make the product obtainable as a prize
2. make the level it's featured in copyable
3. claim it to be your own
4. any combination of 1-3
This is in order to prevent copyright and/or false identification). I'm also making a flight school soon so that you can obtain your Flyer's permit, which then can be used to unlock access to the helicopter. AND, if you want immediate access to the product(s), you can join the company. Employs get special access to my stash .

B.T.W., I've just sent a PM to goldenclaw13. I think he'll enjoy smashing up that helicopter .

After a long wait (and a sweep-through on LBP), I've finally made my decision. Below this text is the official job list. The list contains vital information for each job, and will also list expectations of each. I'll also send out PMs to notify them as well. If anything comes up, or if theres anything else you need to ask, just PM me. I'm looking forward to work with my crew on establishing Outlaw Flyers, Inc.? and to achieve aviation throughout LBP.

Vice President: CyberSora
You're to maintain order in my absence. Flaming and/or discrimination are strictly prohibited. I'll send you my plans/projects when I'm going to be absent for a while. All of the instructions would be sent to you and you're to follow them to the best of your ability. If I see any abuse with your power, you'll be swiftly dealt with. Just keep neutral, and all will be fine.

Assistant Designer: Incinerator22, KernelM
You guys are perhaps the most important people on this team. I'll actively send keys & objects for editing purposes and accessing beta levels. Your cooperation and innovations will be key for this group to thrive. If there's any adjustments you'd like to make OR any projects you want to work on, just PM me.

Tech Research: Dante95, KernelM
Experimentation with your imagination is what this job is all about. Keeping up-to-date and thinking outside the box will help exponentialy. Avoid rockets, pistons & explosives unless it's absolutely necessary. Once you've made something cool, PM me or talk about your innovation in the social group. The smaller and less thermo-consuming you make it, the better.

Advertiser: CyberSora, theswweet, LittleBigSackBoy, S-A-S--G-U-N-R
Just advertise Outlaw Flyers, Inc? and you'll be good. That is all.

Test Dummy: kodymcq, Littlebigdude805, Sage
Every once in a while, I'll send you guys new vehicles and objects for you guys to fool around with. Do anything you want with them, except for:
1. Publish a level with them without my permission.
2. Send to anyone outside the group without my permission.
3. Claim as your own.
Once you've fooled around enough with them, send me a report about the product and what we can do to improve it.

One-Who-Breaks-Things: goldenclaw13, Sage
Self explanatory. Break the objects just like what you'd do to a level. Smash them, blast them, ahnnilate them... do everything to your best ability. Bonus points if the whole thing is destroyed.

Logo/Ad Artist: S-A-S--G-U-N-R
Every once in a while, I'll ask you to make an ad/logo for something (either in-game or on the site). Specifications may come along with my requests, but as long as you perform to the best of your ability, it'll be fine.

Negotiaton's Officer: lbpholic
Once this company picks up momentum, groups may want to do a co-op project/design. I'll call upon you to help negotiate deals and make terms/trade-offs. You're persuasion and careful wording can mean the difference between a deal and a deal-break.

Authorization Officer is still up for grabs.

You'll all recieve invites to the group soon. I already have ideas on what our first project will be. If anyone else is interested in joining this group, PM me. I can't wait to start on our first project!

Sincerely,
Outlaw-Jack

Perhaps then you'd be interested in doing a co-partnership, then? (Once of course your company gets up to speed, that is)

Thnaks Jack for the "Job". I think it's better if me and KernelM starts to collaborate, right? In that case, if we make a coop innovation, of much exp will we receive?
Then, onestly, i think that 20 for each innovation is few: i toke 25 exp only for partecipate in Halloween Spooktacular. It's better if the exp is calculated about the difficulty and complexity of the innovation.
@Hybrid: I think it to eraly to talk about another "company" ecc, if you want to make it it's ok, but talk about a co-op between the two groupes it too much xD

Well... the only reason I avoid rockets, motor bolts and stuff (for flying machiens, mind you) is that:
1. If you place a rocket engine (for power) on a flying machine, it's considered a rocket, not a flying machine.
2. Pistons/bolts are only there to make it "seem" as though the machine's flying. We'll most likely use bolts once we come up with zanier ideas.
3. Progression to land and water willl most likely happen as the company moves along. Once water comes out (in about a bajillion years), we can test on buoyancy and see if things like paddlewheels and oars would work. Plus, we can work on exploiting sleds and making giant hamsterballs or something for land .

KernelM is running the show on this one, and I can assure you, he'll throw TONS of stuff at ya! In this group, you'll be assigned different tasks from him to complete, and the better you complete it, the higher chance you'll be invited into the company. Your social skills with others in the group and your activeness on LBP will also be crucial to your employment. If you meet the requirements, I'll send ya an invite and, well, you're in. @IStwisted: I approve!

In other news, TWO new models are now going up! The Hoverboard Freestyle and Hoverboard Crusader are now up for your viewing pleasure! They're radically different from the first board I've publically released, sporting different paint schemes and designs. I've personally tested both, and, I can say, they're AWESOME!!

Also, keep your eyes peeled around LBP! Tutorial levels will be put up soon, featuring the boards! All 3 (plus 1 I'll reveal later) will have individual guides to them, with each ending with you getting a "key sticker" to unlock the boards in a later bunker/gallery. It's full steam ahead for Outlaw Flyers!!

This board is so CRAZY dat... it's practically a flying death-trap ^_^'. So, check the front page to see the new board, and keep constantly checking for more updates!!

Oh, and currently, we're working on a tutorial level for ALL of you to enjoy! It'll showcase the boards & heli (plus a few others... ) and give you descriptive details on how to control each. Outlaw Flyers marches on!!

These are really looking fantastic. Great stuff! I can't wait for the tutorial level.

I have a suggestion for another HoverBoard type...

I was thinking you could have one with a sensor and grab switch. The sensor activates horizontal movement only, while the grab switch activates a rocket to lift you into the air. Letting go of the grab switch will turn the rocket off and gravity will pull you down.
I think it would be good for a hoverboard that is very stable, and not too fast but good as transport. Also, because it could be more stable it would be better for levels where you have to control a hoverboard to maneuver through obstacles.

Anyways, just an idea. I'll leave it up to you to decide whether you want to use it/how to make it

hilightnotes its a good idea, but the tech we are currently using only allows for left right movement when you are going up and down... But we will take your idea into consideration and consult the guys up in Tech Research if it can be done,
Currently my favourite board is the Freestyle; because it was the first board besides the proto, and i worked on it. its the only board that is easy to control and is perfectly weighted so it wont rise or fall unless you jump!

Care to remind me why ye don't use rockets? Surely rockets offer a more consistent thrust than emitted particles (granted the time between ech particle is only 0.1 second). Just curious really.
In relation to this blur you speak of, if not providing thrust what is the purpose of the rockets?

Outlaw said hat if you use rockets, it isn't a flyer, but a rocket.
Anyway, we have some exceptions to use rockets. I think that the elimination of rockets for fly stimulates the immagination on new way of flying. We're testing many ways, and some of them are curently on our flyers. All top secret ?___?

@Incinerator: True, his machine is very fascinating. The whole rocket thing is because almost EVERY board I've tried is either lifted by pistons and/or rockets. In short, it isn't actually hovering. I know that once we get to making planes and, obviously, rockets, using rocket engines will be more likely. ?~?2009-11-29 23:11:00

As the title says, welcome to Outlaw Flyers Inc.?!

Hovers
HoverBoard Proto
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3282/4041225424_306ef71005_o.jpg
Class: Low-Hover
Stability: Sensitive
Weight: Semi-Heavy
Size: 5-6 Sacks long, 3/4 Sacks high
Combat-Ready: No
Testing Phase: Uncertain

Stability: Semi-Stable/*Extremely Unstable

If you wish to join, please apply to the Outlaw Acadamy, ran by KernelM. He'll tell you all you need to know about the company.

I wish you all good day, and thank you for flying with Outlaw Flyers.

Signed,
Outlaw-Jack

I wouldn't worry too much about that. I have back-up plans...

Oh, and would you guys be interested if I were to... erm, "open up" the group? As in, making it public?

That'd be interesting, depending on what you mean...

I like the idea of having "recruits" build a "prototype contraption" to gain access. It would be fun with levels that let players win tools and other prototypes along the way. maybe a ranking system that requires different objectives be met to move up.

@Kernal I'd like to see it (and help). invite me next time we're both on.

Meh, I feel so drab...

Anywho, a new model is posted under "Flyers": the Canuck Mk.1. With a rear-mounted gun and dual-propellers, this heli conquers the skies in a brutal, bulldog-ish stature of might and cardboard.

And, just wanted to throw this out there. Tell me what yah think:

I've been experimenting with small hoverboards, looking for the best shape, new ways of controlling them and keeping them small and stylish, once I have made a few I may contact you about the assistant designer opening

EDIT:

I've made the most stable hoverboard i've ever rode before, tried the last version with an obstacle course and got halfwat through easy, the newer version is bulkier and does have a few rockets attached, well 6 to which increase the stability but the main purpose for them is when you let go of the material they'll slowly let you down to the ground, and then 2 rockets which are placed for a stable ride but are also the main thrusters for the board, its a prototype but if possible i'd love to join, my PSN is dbriggs if you need to contact me. Another more practical version is made from pink floaty rather than using the 6 rockets

The hoverboard, well both versions,

And now the gunship, working out well if you ask me,

I'm sorry to say, but... Outlaw Flyers is now dead.

HOWEVER... the surviving members and I have come to a solution: make a new group.

Keep checking the showcase for any future posts about this new "plan" I have in store...

If you wish, mods, you may lock this thread.

why not just keep this group alive and represent the NEW plan? why kill a good group with a nice name that only makes it for some random boob to steal the title and riches and pawn them off as their own2010-04-11 09:09:00

Why not just set up the OUTLAW INDUSTRIES organization, where you can make aircraft, steamboats, steamcars, steambikes, steamtanks and all manner of slightly steampunk and always awesome vehicular contraptions? I was getting all excited due to a large amount of aircraft I've made until I noticed your comment that Outlaw Flyers is dead 2010-04-11 16:38:00
