So check it out. I hope everybody enjoys it. You can see a video of the level on LittleBigLand's YouTube channel (recorded by Tin-Cup-70 from LittleBigLand) here (http://www.youtube.com/user/littlebigland2009#p/a/u/0/MfAwk3t5gFo). Be warned though, the video does contain spoilers. Here are some pictures:

Man that was a long level, but it was very good, :star::star::star::star:, and a heart . I did have some issues though, most with winches, as i had to restart one game because this happened and I hadn't noticed.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a369/NotThoughtThrough/APhoto_8.jpg
And it looked like that could happen with a few other of the winches as well, though I didn't try. Another thing was in the base, there could be times where the only way back onto the elevator was suicide, which is never good. maybe find a way to make it stop in between floors?
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a369/NotThoughtThrough/APhoto_9.jpg
And I thought the boss fight was good, better than alot of other levels. One grief was with the things that would pop up and down, and fire tons of red plasma every now and again, as sometimes they would do it in a way that meant certain doom. Maybe either make it fire less plasma, so it's not an instant-kill, or make it so when those things pop up, you have X amount of time before they kill you, and you need to shoot them to disable them.

Outside of that, really good level, really really long, though I liked that. If you could fix the elevator and winches though, I'd give it 5 stars. Maybe fix that every-now-and-again-insta-kill on the boss too.

Thanks for the review! I'm pretty sure the winch problem only happens with that one winch, but I'll fix that and test the other ones when I get a chance. You actually still can get onto the elevator when it's like how you showed in the picture by grabbing the lever, so I'll put I mouth in the level to tell people that you can. I'll also look into changing the boss, but I'm not quite sure what I'll do yet.

Wow, this needs a lot more plays. It reminded me a bit of Zelda, though I think some of the items should have been used more.

Mysterious Planet is pretty detailed in terms of looks and feels very open to explore. Most of my complaints are about level design more than anything else. It has you running back and forth a lot, and I think, like in Zelda, you should open up a lot of shortcuts with the new toys you get to make the travels back and forth much easier.

The story is great. The boss is good but I felt that the turret should have been taller so it could actually protect me, and it was very satisfying. Nice job. 4 stars.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'll make the turret a little taller when I get a chance and I'll see if there's anyway i can implement some shortcuts2009-11-03 03:05:00

Played through this and it's pretty cool. I like the concept of collecting objects to get you through obstacles. Your platforming is good too. Lots of areas that are just a bit tricky. I especially like the button timing run area and the jumps that follow afterward. The climbs, swings and fire obstacles aren't especially easy but they are fair and players with moderate platforming should be able to make it through no problem. I also thought the logs and story were interesting.

Couple of things I did notice were that somtimes the camera makes it possible to take out your turrets without having to be harms way. It's not a really bad thing but it takes some of the challenge out of it. Also, there's the jump down to the area after you've gone over the dome and dropped down to the logs in the fire. The broken jagged log can mess up the jump down into the vertical area and the slope on that first platform is very easy to slide off of. Seems a little cheap since you can't see it coming but that's just my opinion.

The detail in the outside areas is nice but inside the building seems a little empty. Also the elevator is a little tricky too. I appreciated you put checkpoints on them so you can't break the level which is good but maybe if it were a tad slower it would be harder to get yourself stuck on a floor with the elevator out of reach.

The boss is a cool idea but hard to find or predict a pattern for the vertical green plasma. Since it's an infinite checkpoint it's ok but I like to try and do my best even with an infinite life so that was a bit frustrating. I like the idea of the boss though. 500 hits seems like an awful lot to me but it went fairly fast so only a minor gripe there.

The one area I did notice could use a little work was your sound design. The cart that takes you to the building has no sound and some ambient noises now and then might be nice. You don have some good ones like the cracking tree and the rocket sounds but overall I though the sound could use a little more attention.

Over all it's a good level and fun to play. I gave it 4 stars. Thanks for sharing it!

Updated the level:
-Added a sidequest of sorts with a reward for completion
-Added sound effects to things such as cutting down the tree
-Added a thunderstorm effect at the end of the level
-Made the turret in the boss battle larger
-Set switches and other things in the boss's lair to invisible
-A few other small changes

Hi, I'm returning you feedback.

First of all I liked the level very much, rated 5 stars, hearted, and tagget fantastic; is the kind of level I wish to build.

But let's go to the feedback part (that has to be taken as imho):

- Several pistons are still visible without a real need, the only ones I will leave visible are those of the grappling gun and no others.

- For those swingings, I would add also a sound or more sounds combined together (shot+whip i.e.).

- You have quite all the magic mouths and mag keys/switches and motor bolts and some music selector (like the boss' one) still visible, turn them off.

- The waterfalls are too slow, have you faced the 160 hours bug?
Otherwise raise their speed to 0.1 or 0.2.

- To the top of that hill the water kills you without any clue (some visible gas maybe...), so I lost a life.
Also enlarge the wall to the left, I can see ''the emptyness'' while climbing up there!!

- Some of the blue doors' disappearing sound still remains there after you dissolved them; I remember the three one and the underground one.

- There is a switchbox in sight at the big three (the one with the blue door), do something about that.
Another switchbox still visible is the one that (I suppose) controls the turret that shoots 3 rows of plasma, cover that hole!

- In the storage room Sackboys falls between the two top boxes, leaving no other choice than poppin to the checkpoint, narrow them.
Also I cannot ''color'' the storage room in any way, and I scrambled paintballs everywhere; am I missing something? Is it broken? Check it.

- In the building #1, I lost two lives breaking through the weakened structure, because of the metal squishing my Sack, dropping on the cp, and squishing Sack again...
Make it entirely in dissolve or glue the metal part to the ceiling.

- When the final weapon receives too many hits and overheats, there's no time to avoid death, why?
It's not fun to die so many times...

Ok, I believe I'm done.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the level. I'll try to fix everything you suggested. Oh and to "color" the storage room you have to use a sticker.2009-11-12 21:39:00

Level has been updated. The boss now has a pattern and it should be easier to avoid his attacks. A few minor things have been fixed too.2009-12-22 17:03:00

Camden,

Just played this one, and it is pretty **** good! Not as polished and challenging as the sequel, but hey, we all start somewhere. Keep this series going, I love this style of level you have going and I would love to see more!

Thanks for checking it out! I've actually just started work on number three but I'm not 100% sure where I'm going to go with it or when I'll be done yet. Also, I played Temple of Fire last night. Twas awesome.2010-01-28 19:26:00
