One of the things I can't wait to do on this game is to re-make some of my PS3 levels. I can also, for some reason, see this game having very many challenge/survival levels compared to regular ones.

What are your ideas for challenge levels?
I'm going to make some obstacle courses
(Not like those ones where you have to run across falling pink-floaty, I hate those >_>)

Yeah, those are the new bomb survival challenges.

I am thinking about making a jetpack race challenge, but it is going to be hard because I don't think the PSP version has a tetherless jetpack yet.

Aha! I hadn't even considered re-making some of my PS3 levels... *smacks head* Why didn't I think of that??

As for survival challenges, I predict a lot of running-jumping type of survival stuff because it's relatively easy to make. Put another way, you can put a lot of detail into a plain old platformer and still have plenty of thermometer left... and I'm sure we won't have as much room on the thermo versus LBP PS3.

I am also thinking of doing a spin off series on the PSP based on the levels I am making now. I was also thinking someone should try making a PSP version of the PS3 story levels.2009-10-21 01:39:00

Yeah, just like people are making PS3 versions of the PSP story levels.
Haha, but seriously, if you haven't checked them out, some people made some pretty decent ones.

I'm going to re-create some of my levels, but i'm gonna have to work a way around the Paintinator parts, as i doubt there will be a Paintinator power-up in LBP PSP.2009-11-12 03:35:00

We'll just have to work around it.

Grabby thing on wheels + emitter = pretty good substitute for a paintinator

There are ways to make a health bar without paint switches...they're just kinda tricky to get right...

I tried to design a 3 vs 3 2 player pokemon battle system for my friend to put in his level, but he gave up... I can't remember how it worked, but it predated the paintinator...

Pre-paintinator health bars I've seen are based on basic counting switches. You have an emitter set to emit a magnetic key that falls into a vertical hopper whenever a certain event occurs (e.g., you hit the boss in the head with something). The stacking keys can be used to display the boss' health in a series of lights or other mechanic, and when the stack reaches the top the death sequence is triggered. Pretty easy actually, just not as easy as a paint switch. 2009-11-15 17:04:00

That sounds like a cool alternative health bar. But i'm thinking i should just make a whole new area, to replace the paintinator areas. But i'l try to find a way to use these Pre-Paintinator Health Bars, in my LBP PSP levels.
In my VR Obstacle Course 4 level (my most played level) I was thinking about a new area to replace the Boss fight. But maybe i should just make a new Boss, to replace the boss that needs to get paintinated to be defeated.
However i doubt there will be a VR material, in LBP PSP, i'l have to use different materials. That means the level won't be named "VR" Obstacle Course.

Or, you could say that in the case of your new level "VR" means "very restricted". 2009-11-16 21:35:00

Actually, I have the official guide. In one of the Hollywood levels, where a film about about aliens is being filmed, there is something that looks exactly like the green VR material. I am not sure if this is a sticker or material, but the point is that it will look exactly like the VR material.

it would make sense for there to be more survival challenges as it would be harder lol on a psp than on ps32009-11-22 12:12:00

It's a sticker.
