You could buy an external hdd enclousure and hook the hdd up to that. | 2009-10-19 10:03:00 Author: Rabid-Coot ![]() Posts: 6728 |
You can't do that as far as I know. | 2009-10-19 10:04:00 Author: Syroc ![]() Posts: 3193 |
Ooh. R.I.P. your PS3. ![]() Now I'm not an expert, but I guess you can remove the hard drive. It's on the side. The big metal box you see after removing the cover. Put the hard drive in a new PS3. Hope it helps. | 2009-10-19 10:08:00 Author: CyberSora ![]() Posts: 5551 |
like rabid-coot said, you could buy an enclosure, put your hard drive in it, hook it up to your computer and then copy the gamesaves from that. Even if the new ps3 was to format the drive you can just copy them back over | 2009-10-19 10:39:00 Author: Dhawken ![]() Posts: 96 |
I hope that everybody reading this will back-up their PS3s now... This is the only thing that would have saved the thread starter. If he had a back-up he could dump it on another PS3 or his current PS3 once repared. . | 2009-10-19 20:19:00 Author: RangerZero ![]() Posts: 3901 |
I'm definitely going to back up my data when I finish working on my Halloween level. | 2009-10-19 20:58:00 Author: olit123 ![]() Posts: 1341 |
Don't put it off if you can. So sorry to hear mdaj. Good luck to you - there are other suggestions on YLOD in threads started by Silverleon, Joey, Ungreth, CCubbage and a few others who I can't recall at the moment. Seems like these PS3's are dropping more frequently lately. | 2009-10-19 21:01:00 Author: Morgana25 ![]() Posts: 5983 |
I'm definitely going to back up my data when I finish working on my Halloween level. Don't delay, the ylod will not wait for you. | 2009-10-19 21:02:00 Author: Rabid-Coot ![]() Posts: 6728 |

That's terrible, I hope you get it sorted and manage to get all your data back ok. BTW is it possible to back up the entire PS3 HD to an external hard drive? I have a Maxtor OneTouch 4Plus which I use for backing up my PC but I have no idea if I could get my PS3 data onto it aswell or not and if so how ? Any help would be appreciated so I can do it before it's too late if it's possible. | 2009-10-19 23:39:00 Author: mistervista ![]() Posts: 2210 |

If you have the tools available you can do a DIY fix. 4_Ic1_TY-GU Vr1zyAGwnuU | 2009-10-20 10:32:00 Author: Rabid-Coot ![]() Posts: 6728 |
That is quite possibly the coolest thing I've seen on YouTube. ![]() | 2009-10-20 16:33:00 Author: Morgana25 ![]() Posts: 5983 |
From my experience: - Send your PS3 in for repair to Sony if possible. If they are able to fix it, your data will be there. - If you have no backup of your LBP data you will need to go through the story mode again, but using a new PS3 to login to your existing account will allow you to copy your published levels back down to your hard drive again. | 2009-10-20 16:45:00 Author: CCubbage ![]() Posts: 4430 |
That is quite possibly the coolest thing I've seen on YouTube. ![]() Apart from the fact your console is broken it is quite cool to see irl. | 2009-10-20 18:54:00 Author: Rabid-Coot ![]() Posts: 6728 |

If you have the tools available you can do a DIY fix. 4_Ic1_TY-GU Vr1zyAGwnuU thanx for tha kool videos!!!! BUUUT... unfortunately i cannot fix my PS3 problem with a heat gun. but thanx! if u look at the 3rd picture i posted for this thread.... u will see that my mother-board burned itself alive!!! AHHHH! LOL. i know the pic is kinda fuzzy cuz my camera sux... but look at the black bugars on the circuit card. =P those bugars are burned-up micro-chips! i cannot find replacement for those. and if i somehow do... i still have to drill-out the burnt parts of the motherboard, re-run new condoctors though the board, patch-up th holes i made, and borrow some ridiculously expensive equipment to put those micro chips back on. AHHHHHH!!!! i just got myself a new ps3... but i forgot my password for my mdaj account! OMG!!! maybe i should not have been so lazy and used the "remember my password" option on the ps3. maybe typing it over and over again wouldve made me memorized it. ohhh well. =( now i have to start EVERYTHING over... i even have to re-purchase all the downloads i bought!!! GREAT!!! >=( | 2009-10-21 00:37:00 Author: mdaj ![]() Posts: 119 |
Okay, it's official. There is definitely a curse on LBPC that keeps on killing our PS3s. There's no other logical explanation why there seems to be a topic every few days that says "OMG MY PS3 DIED" for the past few months. | 2009-10-21 00:44:00 Author: Arkei ![]() Posts: 1432 |
