New Player, Emitter Question!

Archive: 7 posts

Hey everyone. I picked up a PS3 a few weeks ago, and little big planet. I finally 100% everything, and aced all the levels to make sure I have all of the options for my levels.

I'm currently building my first level, and I would like it to not only be fun, also challenging. I'm currently having an issue when creating an emitter on my creatures, that shoot plasma balls. The plasma balls never shoot straight, and the player can simply run into the them, wait for a shot then jump and kill. I wanted the player to actually have to jump over them with timing before he reaches them. Even when I try to adjust the angle, it all seems to stay the same..

Does anyone have any good tips on having an emitter shoot straight, or does it all depend on my placement the first time I choose the plasma ball?

It depends on where you place the plasma ball. I you place it right next to the emiter in the direction you want it to go, and shet the linear volocity, it should shoot straight.2009-10-18 18:09:00

Make sure that the little arrow from the emitter (which displays once you set the location for emission) is pointing in the desired direction aswell, and double check it using front view to be safe.2009-10-18 18:48:00

I'd turn on Grid Mode, place the emitter, then place the plasma ball while still in Grid Mode. That way it's nearly guaranteed to shoot straight, unless for some reason the grid dis-aligns.2009-10-18 18:50:00

But what if you wanted it to shoot diagonally? Then the grid wouldn't work.

Well he's not asking to shoot diagonally, he's asking how to shoot straight, but actually the grid works fine for shooting at angles as well. If you want to shoot at a specific angle, you can do it with some math on the grid.

Thanks, that worked great.. I have them shooting straight now. Using the grid was the best method.2009-10-19 07:14:00
