Little Dead Space moderated?

Archive: 49 posts

Ive just searched using the most hearted option and discovered that Little Dead Space was nowhere to be seen. Also I searched DarknessBear`s profile and only found part 2.

It would seem that it was moderated the same as Dinosaur Island. My Unofficial Costumes level is now number 1 and potentially the next target .

If anyone has any more information on this please leave a comment as media molecule are seriously making some huge mistakes if this is the case.

I just saw that too! Only good thing is that your still on LBP so if you are next, you can republish it, if you removed it from my moon you better put it back on there!!! Dangit this proves that they still didn't fix the moderation system.

EDIT: I'm gonna go ask on LittleBigWorkshop, see if someone from MM would answer

I left a topic there.

http://forums.littlebigworkshop.com/lbp/board/message?board.id=pod&thread.id=100824

UPDATE!!!
From Sam Protaginist on LBW:

There's no systematic removal of levels taking place currently and I'm unaware of any issues relating to the eroneous moderation of the levels mentioned - in short, nothing has changed.

So....DarknessBear really deleted it? (Or am I not reading this right?) Idk, something's not right, 3 of the most hearted creators deleting there levels in a row....that can't be coincedental. Can someone contact DarknessBear to confirm this?

Hmm... didn't notice but I guess my prediction was right, in the thread I created about Dinosaurs Island being moderated I wondered if Little Dead Space and the Unofficial Costumes would be the next levels to be moderated... guess I'm half right.

RIP... Dead Space was a GREAT level....and when the creator finds out it will be pretty awkward since he has helped promote LBP at events...

And he can't republish it, even if he kept it in his moon.

One time my big brother made a H4H level (I begged him not too!!! ) and when it got moderated, he couldn't republish it.

What's with all these levels getting moderated???

If I were you, I would publish a second locked copy of all your levels... Not sure it would work, but it's definitely worth a try. And if your level gets modded, you can just unlock it.

It would work, but only assuming you had fewer than 11 levels to date. Although, I'm sure Steve could make a copy of his costume level just to be safe.

Wow.

This is something that I'd really like to be resolved, as unjust moderation seems almost ... criminal ... especially on "top" levels.

If we can't get MM attention via forums, do you think Mr. Dino could play a chip here to get some attention?

Eeh, if I was in his position, I know I wouldn't want to do anything to possibly strain a positive relationship with the guys at Mm. I would personally consider prodding them about unjust level moderation to have the potential for "strain".

Is anyone in touch with DarknessBear? He would be the one that should be able to get an answer from Mm about it.

Lol, I doubt he would say anything bad about MM, after all who then would go on forums and purposely tease people about new things on LBP...seems like all he ever does.

Does anyone recall exactly when those were published originally? Wondering if there's some sort of one year shelf life on levels? Just a thought I'd had... probably not correct but I thought I'd throw it out there.2009-10-15 05:53:00

My beta level is still around, so I don't think that would be the cause. Then again, the earliest republish comment puts it at "11 months ago" so I'll try to spot it if anything happens to it in the next couple of months.

I don't think Little Dead Space was released during the beta though? It's most likely moderation/griefing.

I will never understand the jealusy that people have that makes them greif levels like this.

As a superfamily, Great Apes (Hominidae) include both us, and among others, Chimps (as well as Gorillas and Orangutans).
(Yes, I'm going somewhere with this)

Chimps are remarkably intelligent creatures. There is at least one, I'd have to look up his name, that has been taught English as a language and to communicate back by pointing to symbols on a board to construct sentences, which he does not only very well, but is a stickler from grammar. They use tools of their own invention, and they even have regional cultures. These guys are clever enough that recently they have begun to hunt with spears that they make themselves.

So, let's check in on the family ...

YouTube - chimp fight at the zoo.

I think it's quite easily understandable when you realize that being intelligent is not mutually exclusive with being a ****.

People have emotions, including jealousy. Some of them will be ****s when they experience it. We could all by 'hyper-intelligent super-beings' from some far off planet, my guess is at least one of us would still be a ****.

Ugh...

Lets be honest, the way moderation is handled will NEVER change and people will always abuse "good grief". What we really need is a way to download and save levels on our hard drives both in and out of LBP. I'm tired of moderation, I'm tired of having limited hearts, and I'm tired of the small profile size. I AM SO $%#$#& SICK OF IT!!! This NEEDS to change NOW! Forget water or online create for now and maybe I'm alone here but I believe this stuff is far more important.

I know they are going to expand the profile size which is great and they are going to have some kind of web portal thing, but I would really like the ability to download levels so they are not gone forever when they eventually get moderated or disappear from my heart list because I've run out of hearts. Give players a download option and authors the ability to disable levels from being published by other people after they've expanded the profiles. It doesn't seem like much to ask does it?

Forget water

I agree that they need to have a way of saving your level. We all have a HD, why not make some use out of it? But I would hope they don't forget water - my upcoming level depends on it!

If a level is moderated, I understand that we can't play it online anymore, but can the creator still play it on his/her moon? I would hope so.

Yeah, but the problem is as previously mentioned that if it is an old level, the creator possibly removed it from their moon and the only copy is the one that was moderated. There just isn't room to keep that many full levels on your moon without filling your profile. ..especially if you have a level or two in progress with a few workshops.

I think for now, I am going to make some copies of mine since I have some publish space and publish some locked copies just in case.

I wonder if I wandered into the Louvre and complained that the Venus de Milo was offending me with her brazen nudity, would they remove the sculpture from display?

This moderation of classic levels is a load of flocking bullshot!

You only have 10 pages of hearted level. When you heart some more, it will bump a level out.

You also have 10 pages of hearted creators.

No, Darkness Bear only had some 5-6 levels published if not less. So if the level isn't there anymore he probably deleted for X reason.

Actually, I'm surprised to see this thread because I went on Darkness Bear's page like last week-end and everything was there.

Lol @ the people who thought you deleted it, it just wouldn't make sense that you would even think of deleting a level that had +100,000 hearts and a Community Favorite. I really hope you had an extra copy because I seriously doubt MM will just bring it back up again with it's original Hearts, Comments, Rating, etc..2009-10-15 22:36:00

Yes the published level is instantly deleted with no warning whatsoever.

I don't know if you recall but I made a thread about this previously when my 'Sheriff Sack' level was moderated. Luckily I had a copy on my moon and just published it again ok.

I have complained about the moderating problem until I'm blue in the face but nothing has changed. I sent an email to 'Spaff' at Mm at the time and received this reply:

Re: Moderated level

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Heya!

I sadly have no idea why the level was moderated, and nor can i look it up! That's all handled by Sony.

What happens though is that if a level is flagged with enough complaints, it is taken off-line automatically, and then put in a queue for someone to look at.

Usually it's the user photos that get flagged - someone could have gone into your level, put an offensive sticker on something, and then uploaded that photo to your level's gallery.

So that's one thing that could have happened - If there's anything wrong with it then it will be up again soon enough, and if there is something wrong then you'll be told what it is!

I think he meant to put 'if there isn't anything wrong' but you get the idea anyway. Although he says it's all handled by Sony I did get an LBP message from Mm telling me it was moderated but only after it had already been deleted which was no help whatsoever and still have not been told to this day why it was in the first place !!

I'll try and have a word with some of the moderators at the Playstaion forums to see if they know what's going on. They're the ones who moderate the levels in the game after all. I'll see if I can somehow persuade them to get it back. 2009-10-15 22:46:00

While you're at it can you ask them not to moderate levels because some idiot has uploaded 1 stupid picture. Wouldn't it make more sense just to delete that picture or give us the option to ourselves ? After all it's the person who uploaded the offending picture that should be moderated, not the level !

Or (on the picture uploading topic) ... how about just have it so that we have to approve the pictures?

Interesting that Spaff put out a disclaimer that it was in no way MM's fault, but then commented that it may have been moderated by Sony due to offensive photos being uploaded on the description page. Now I wonder who it was that put such an easily abusable feature into the game in the first place and who could also patch the problem up if they put some effort into it? MM or Sony?2009-10-16 08:25:00

I TOTALLY agree... I had a huge problem with Splat III when it was released a few weeks ago. Lewd pictures were being uploaded onto the level and I had to keep going home from work and uploading my own pictures to circulate them out.... I was on page 2 with a GREAT heart ratio and was really irritated that it could get moderated.

One of the biggest issues I have with the uploaded pictures is the ability for players to somehow upload pictures that don't identify them..... which means I can't report them. It absolutely infuriated me not being able to at least "delete" the pictures.

If its "My" level that I worked hard on, I should be able to choose what pictures can be included.

Well i must say that i am hoping all these good levels can get reposted but in the meantime all we can do is wait. Being able to delete the uploaded picture and report bad phoos and then the people who get reported should be banned from uploading photos.2009-10-16 14:46:00

Whoever thought up such a retarded idea in the first place needs to be taken behind the woodshed. I mean, what's to stop some pedophile from uploading pictures of his own penis onto some little kid's level pages? Nothing. If MM want to insist that we create age appropriate levels, then they need to fulfil their own responsibilities to the dummy sucking, diaper filling audience they're so eager to reach out to.

The real problem is that Media Molecule decided this game was user moderated but they didn't think more than 2 mins about their moderating tool. If they had provided us great and clear options, great tools to moderate the game ourselves, there would be no such problems. This feature in the game is so half-assed that i'm enraging myself when I think about it.

Think about it, you can basically select or click on anything in the menus and windows of this game. How come I don't have an option for "report this" when I press square on anything??? How easier to make, more user friendly and effective this would have been? Million times.

Media Molecule sleeping at the wheel yet again. Seriously.
