Turn on and Speed up?

Archive: 4 posts

I want a piston to turn on when I want it to with a switch. However, I also want it to speed up.

If you can only connect one switch to 1 piston, How do I make it do both?

I'm not too sure what you mean, let's say you have a player proximity switch set to speed, when you go within the trigger radius of that switch the piston should start moving slowly, but when you get closer to the proximity switch, the piston will get faster and faster, when you go back out of the trigger radius though, the piston stop moving again.2009-10-14 21:26:00

Do you want the piston to move forth and back with increasing speed, or do you want it to move in one direction only?

First one is simple. Just place the mag key (or whatever device you use for the speed setting) outside of the activation radius of the corresponding switch. As soon as you want the piston to start moving, move the key inside the radius. You can speed the movement up by just moving the key closer to the switch. This can be done in a thousand ways - most common version is to use a piston which brings key and switch closer together at a set speed.

Second one is a bit difficult, since the "speed" setting does not work directionally. Not even with a 3-way-switch! You can set a 3-Way to "Speed" - Pulling it left will make the piston go down and right will make it go up (speed depending on how hard you pull it), but as soon as it does either reach the lowest or highest point, it will start moving in the opposite direction.

This means that you'll need an advanced system if you want to achieve different directional speed settings for one piston. I'll wait and see if the solution provided above did already solve your problem, though; if not, we can move into the deep darkness of "advanced logic" later on
