About the Bronze,Silver,Gold,Elite Trophies

I have a question about the trophies. I was wondering, if you were to buy a bronze trophy, and later on you decided to go for the Elite trophy, would it still be 2500? What I'm trying to say is, is it possible to gradually upgrade trophies, or would the trophy still be 2500 even if you were Gold. Just a concern, so I could plan out what trophy to go for.
