Reduce Logic Boards Meter Level

Archive: 6 posts

I was just checking my most recent tank to see how much thermo it eats up. I deleted my whole tank and then the logic board. I noticed the logic board took up about 1/2 of the overall usage, which surprised me. I think it was two blocks maybe. I deleted all the emitters used on it but it did not drop so it has to be something else.

If someone could take a look and help me figure out how to reduce it that would be great. You can get the tank at Rz22gs LBP10 level.
Thanks

Maybe it was the switches themselves.2009-10-14 14:36:00

I had tested the thermometer load previously, but I came up with around 21% taken up by the logic and 79% taken up by the tank. My test was done in a non-empty level though, so the materials used might have jinxed the results.

I did notice that you use a lot of a kind of glass structure with three pistons, so if there's one thing that might be made better it would be those parts. I would have tested more thoroughly but I can't take collected objects apart.

Thanks I will try changing glass material and see what happens.2009-10-14 18:28:00

Sorry for the late response, but I've only got around to poking around your tank recently.

Managed to knock off a few bits of thermo by using the material changer tool to change the grabable material used in the logic board to cardboard.
Running the corner editing tool over the dark matter there were a lot of unneeded vertices that could be removed.
I don't know how much thermo they take up but some of the stickers on the tank could be more efficiently arranged.
As for using two emitters to press a switch there was something in the Logic Pack which used two pistons and a magnetic switch to create the same effect, I don't know which one is more thermo-friendly but it might be worth having a look at.
As previously written in this thread removing the glass from the logic board will probably make the biggest impact.
Not related to saving thermo but I made a small mock level to test out your tank and found that I wanted it to accelerate and decelerate faster. The idea of gradual acceleration and deceleration is a great one but it was hard to make precise movements. When I wanted to move an inch backwards or forwards to get in a better position I was often overshooting it.

sure you can take them apart, gut them, fix and overhaule them. all you need to do is switch the mitirials take some stickers off and redo the tools. hell i completly reworked the lbp10 to make it go faster, aksellerate faster better supension and redid the paint job for a gungle camo look
