mystery sticker switch

Archive: 22 posts

Has anybody noticed in the Mines there is a sticker switch on one of the supports. The cart you take that you have to swing over a firepit and land in another cart, at the end of that track, the last bar there is a sticker switch that takes pretty much any sticker, anyone know what it does?2009-10-12 11:42:00

Maybe it's just a mistake that it was placed there; those levels aren't entirely infalliable, you know.

But yeah, if the sticker switch itself isn't placed on a cardboard cutout, then it's probably not used for anything.

Not to quote a Miley Cyrus song, but nobody is perfect, and it would be silly to assume otherwise.

This sticker switch was probably just misplaced or the result of an idea that never got fully implemented and was forgotten.

I sometimes use a hidden sticker switch when I want a piston or wobble bolt to move in one direction only. Maybe MM did the same, but forgot to set it invisible? 2009-10-12 20:11:00

That's a possibility, but I would have gone with a grab switch on a material that can't be grabbed. That way it is 100% full-proof, instead of 99.9%.

Chuck Norris can grab ungrabbable materials...

just to throw that out there.

Maybe MM just wanted their levels to seem more complicated than they really are, just to show off a bit? I'm kinda leaning towards it being an idea that was later scrapped.

Now I got the song in my head now (Only if my Little sis hadn't listened to it all the time)

Lol, I wish I could grab the ungrabbable. I could break levels, make my friends look like imbissiles while trying to grab what I'm grabbing and dying in the process, ahh the possibilities 2009-10-14 01:04:00

Wow, sooo...I'm assuming it does nothing? I figured it was just left there on accident but it made the sound effect when i put the sticker on it so I figured something hidden. Hm, maybe a Chuck Norris sticker?2009-10-14 07:36:00

I heard that Chuck Norris made up a new Chuck Norris joke that was on topic. Even more amazingly: it was actually funny

@gilgamesh's suggestion: if the switch is taking any sticker, surely this would break the level in some way if you stuck something on it and reversed the direction?

Yes it would, which is why I put these "dummy switches" somewhere impossible for the player to reach, invisible, AND at the minimal radius possible. I also set them to use the donkey head to confuse players and as a kind of author's mark.

Oh yeah, I'm sure when you do it, you don't just place it in view, I meant more in this case, it couldn't be that or something would be breaking.

Liking the donkey head idea BTW, I wonder how many people have run around just placing donkey heads everywhere, just to find that switch

No one has asked me about it yet. Then again, I don't really keep it secret or anything.

Regarding the switch in the MM level, I might dig up my LBP strategy guide to try to see where the switch is and what it might be connected to (if anything).

Chuck Norris can make a black pop-it without doing anything.
ON TOPIC. Probably some mistake or was going to be for something, but got removed.
