Project GENESIS: RequiemMrsSpookyBuz Trapped. Alone. Isolated. The Dark Androids have captured you, but you don't know why. What do they want? An experiment? A test? Or death? To find out, you're going to have to escape from your prison, journey through the mysterious organic caves, and infiltrate their secret base. Your fate is in your own hands. Comply. Or die. all Okay, this level continues from where the Prelude ended, but there's no need to play the first part if you haven't already! I've tried to do things in this one that I haven't done before, and I've taken a few risks along the way - I really hope you enjoy it. A quick note: there aren't many score bubbles in view, but there are plenty secret areas for all you bubble hunters! Thank you to the LBPC community for its support, and thank you to KernelM for offering ideas. Special thanks to coyote_blue and Tanuki75 for their tireless playtesting and suggestions - I'm so sorry that I kept the ending a secret to you guys - I wanted you to be able to share the surprise! Any faults with the level are entirely my own. Here are a few teaser images... Dam! That was fast, I'll go check it out now. And, am I noticing a trend? You always seem to publish on Sundays... | 2009-10-11 19:53:00 Author: TheFirstAvenger Posts: 787 |
Totally epic. Your best level yet, I have not much more to say, other than... - It rocked! - Visuals and design unique. - The snail is cool! - The snail also scared the crap outa me. - You managed to put in Hyper Cube? Bleedin' heck 0__0 - The boss is amazing! However, it didn't actually 'die', when I defeated it, there was just a white glow (I know you used that Sun glitch) and...Well...The two smaller guns in front of it continued to fire. Would've been awesome if we saw a few more "KABOOM" effects like the camera shaking, a slight change in the global lighting, some flashes, I dunno. But I liked it overall - You used my favourite LBP song! Yaaay! :star::star::star::star::star: and a gigantic, pulsating, bloody maroon heart | 2009-10-11 20:04:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
Ok Just played with LittleBigSackBoy, and I must say that it was magnificent. Everything down to the end was great. A well deserved 5 Stars and Heart. Thanks for the level Spooky. | 2009-10-11 20:04:00 Author: iGotFancyPants Posts: 1355 |

MrsSpookyBuz, you manage to make me drop Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 when I read that the level was available! I'll feedback as I play if you don't bother it As for PG1, smart use of ojects like the bottles in the background, and lovable use of VeraBee stickers on glass, they have a wonderful effect, not to mention that the glass is cut perfectly. The zone where there are the rolling rocks is a bit tricky, I refer to the last 2, where the lighting, the lag and the fog makes difficult to understand the distances. Great use of the 3 layers, it really gives the idea of wicked insane caves. I really like how you used Wise Owl throughout. I don' really liked the music in this pack, but this one is excellent for sci-fi themed levels. Good idea for the ropes to swing (but the first you get on is attached to nothing, actually an invisible piston, and it hasn't a cool effect) I was quiet disappointed to return to the base... Good emitter used for the monitor effect. Cool boss battle, real trick with the red cross, but flying close to it make you lose your jetpack maybe you should put some invisible electric wall or gas near it The ship has a wonderful design. HyperCube has been online for ages Great great great level, totally epic. I would lie if I would say that I liked the second part as the first, but the level is awesome anyway. You won most in renewing yourself than replying some of your old stuff, but it's a series, it has a story, and everything has a final sense. But the first part has an incredible cool atmosphere. I really loved and enjoyed it. I don't know if this your best level as Korn said 2 posts ago, but it's in the top 3 and in the next Spotlight for sure. 5 stars and a heart. No tag, since we miss the one that says EPIC. Please F4F my level in the sig. | 2009-10-11 20:16:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |

I'm really chuffed that you liked the visuals on this one - that means a lot to me coming from you! The boss - yes, I shoulda coulda woulda. I had the whole place blowing up at one point, but well, these androids build guns to carry on firing, ya know! lol Thanks very much indeed | 2009-10-11 20:18:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |
@OmegaSlayer Thank you so much for your honest feedback. Ok, i just played this: First impressions EPIC Every part from the opening sequence to the end was a blast, that exploding ship at the begining was priceless, i was all like O.o The visual design on the level is perfect, great glass plantlife and the vines to swing from are cool. The gameplay was fun and challenging, especially when the boss blew me up after i defeated it, :arg: 5:star: plus heart now i'm going to play it again | 2009-10-11 20:44:00 Author: springs86 Posts: 785 |

Great! I loved the first one and this sounds promising, It's number one on my list of levels to play tommorow | 2009-10-11 22:19:00 Author: Kn0cked-0ut Posts: 562 |
ok - gonna comment as I go through this my second time.... + Opener is awesome + Love the reference to the last level with the mini scoreboard + Cell is cool - love the energy bars. + Cutscene with the ship is great (love the background) only thing I noticed is the ship seems to have flown through solid rock to get into that position.... would a tighter or different camera angle help the illusion? + Love what you did with the probe. Very creavite and looks amazing. - after the first vine swing I think you have a shape that isn't intentional. Looks like the Genesis Chevron just to the right of the fern... might be from when the ship blew up or might be a rogue piece of material. Might want to check that out. + Love LOVE the vera bee stickers on glass. I love that effect and your cutouts are outstanding. + Neat vines + secret bubbles - yay! - the rotating rocks with sponges. They work great just curious why they are 3 layers deep. It's not a problem but just looked a bit unusual to me. - There are some blind layer areas in the rocks. Specifically with the four mushrooms (that look like muffins - lol) and the green gas. Not a bad thing but may confuse some less adventurous players. + Love the top secret screen. + Cutscene with planet is cool. (poor planet!) + Loved the combination of tight space and momentum needed jumps with the electrical obstacles. Nice play feeling in there. + Sun glitch on the light? You must pm me about how that's done - looks great! + The hatch on the ship squished me... must be careful where I stand. lol + 2 ships in one day.... hope my insurance is payed up. Overall a great level and very fun to play. Merges your level series nicely. I appreciate how the visuals have been stepped up too. This is a great level and wothy addition to the series for sure. 5 stars & hearted. Thanks for another wonderful experience! | 2009-10-11 22:28:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
Well, what more can i say. This is a truly great level! It's not often you see such great use of the 3 layers and i can tell you in this case they are used to great effect. Whilst climbing the rocky surface you really get a feel that you have to 'work' your way up, but this doesn't take away any of the fun! It gets you thinking "Right then, which way now?" I love having to work out a path, especially when it's been crafted so beautifully! I also thought the use of 'Pipes' as ventilation shafts was excellent, in-fact all the decorations in this are spot on. My only criticism's are; When playing through the 'Revolving rock's' bit, its kinda hard to see where your sackperson is. A possible new angle could really improve this! Also, it's a shame that less experienced players might have a hard time figuring it out, the level kinda demands that you are very used to how LBP works and might possible be the reason the level rating dropped from a 5 to a 4 Overall, this is another MrsSpookyBuz classic and i highly recommend it! Plus i love a good plot twist! I was like :0 | 2009-10-11 22:33:00 Author: Mr_T-Shirt Posts: 1477 |
Morgana, thanks so much for playing, and for offering such full feedback. I'm delighted you enjoyed it, thanks again! ok - gonna comment as I go through this my second time.... + Cutscene with the ship is great (love the background) only thing I noticed is the ship seems to have flown through solid rock to get into that position.... would a tighter or different camera angle help the illusion? Yeah, the solid rock behind was meant to be the same 'walkthrough' rock from the first level - but how are players meant to know that??! I'll have a look at this.! after the first vine swing I think you have a shape that isn't intentional. Looks like the Genesis Chevron just to the right of the fern... might be from when the ship blew up or might be a rogue piece of material. Might want to check that out. Yes, I have to smile - the explosion causes seemingly random deposits of debris all over the shop. I've got inviz dark matter catching most of it, but some sneaky pieces seem to get through! Love LOVE the vera bee stickers on glass. I love that effect and your cutouts are outstanding. [ Thank you! I was really pleased the way they worked out. the rotating rocks with sponges. They work great just curious why they are 3 layers deep. It's not a problem but just looked a bit unusual to me. Hmm, I suppose I was trying to not let the player jump 'forward' a plane and skip the whole room. I know there are ways to cheat slightly, but this is why they're 3 planes thick. Overall a great level and very fun to play. Merges your level series nicely. I appreciate how the visuals have been stepped up too. This is a great level and wothy addition to the series for sure. 5 stars & hearted. Thanks for another wonderful experience! Well, thanks very much again! Played it a little big ago. It's quite the deviation from your normal work, but I was pleasantly surprised with the plot twist at the end. Everything looked pretty good - I was a fan of the Vera Bee glass! I did have some issues with the "path" being not so obvious at times. Specifically the little wooden elevator. I couldn't tell there was a path in the back layer, so I spent a little while thinking I had missed something (like the correct path). I really liked the little "orb" thing with the powerup cancel thing. It looked great, lol. It irked me that the boss never died when I killed it, as was already mentioned. Not much else to add after Morgana's great feedback. All in all, it was pretty solid. I will be honest and say that I think I liked part 1 more than this one, but it wasn't bad or anything. I think I'd have normally given it 4 stars, but since it you, I gave 5. Hmm... is that bad? | 2009-10-11 22:46:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
Thought this level was great, particularly loved the glass cutouts, excellent, I'm gonna try that!! | 2009-10-11 23:10:00 Author: mrsvista Posts: 755 |
I've made no secret that I thought that the Prelude was my favourite level of yours, so I had mixed feelings before I played this next installment. But now, I've played it 4 times, and I think it is wonderful! - great opening, and I loved that it started exactly where the first one ended. - the new music in the first part suited it well - quite a bit ethereal! - I loved the 'The End is Nigh' sticker near the entrance to the base. Fab, I had to mention this! - good mix again from you - nothing is ever too hard or too easy. - good boss/reactor fight - probably the best twist ending I've ever seen (though admittedly there aren't that many!) Overall, I love this. Yes, the plane shifting and the path to take in the caves can be seen by some to be confusing. But you're in caves, no? Yes, this is LBP and not real life, but oh how I wished there was another Hyper Cube level at the end. Seriously, I was speechless when the robot uttered that immortal phrase! Great stuff, MrsSpookyBuz, and thanks. Super level. | 2009-10-11 23:52:00 Author: LBP--Sentinel Posts: 31 |
I got it up. Behold the MrsSpookyBuzzes YouTube - Project GENESIS: Requiem by MrsSpookyBuz | 2009-10-12 06:51:00 Author: JKthree Posts: 1125 |
I just played this level, I had a lot of fun with it. Here's my list of suggestions and thoughts: -You should add a background. -Those drops of electricity in the beginning are quite annoying. Maybe you should put a creature there or slow the emitter down just a little bit. -The level seems a little cramped feeling sometimes. (The small caves and corridors.) One way to add a more open feeling is to add areas outside of the playing zone that can't get to, but you can see. (Such as hollow walls.) -The beginning part of the level is really foggy, and the fog adds gray dullness, maybe you should turn down the fog a bit. -The snail was scary! -I like those glass plants. -The turning rocks part in the beginning was difficult at the end part, the camera was to far from the player, and they seem to slow, however, if there is limited lives, it may be a good idea to keep the rocks at a slow rotating speed. That last turning rock is very irritating, I can never seem to make the jump to the next checkpoint. -Good choice for the music in the beginning! -At the wooden lift, it is difficult to see the open path once the lift stops at the top. On my first play through of the level, I though that the top of the rock was the end, and I thought the lift was ending just before the exit point. -The escape ship crushes me when I grab the white controls. Overall, 4 stars and a heart. Btw, was I supposed to play the prelude before this? | 2009-10-12 09:57:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
Howdy MrsSB! I actually got to play this the day it was released which is a blooming miracle! I thoroughly enjoyed this level - even the bits that frustrated me. If there was any down side, it was that it finished far too quickly (which is a sign you're enjoying yourself, really). I played it again to be sure I hadn't missed anything and I hadn't, and there is actually a heap of gameplay in the level, not to mention those wonderful cut scenes - it just went too quickly : ( Much of what I thought has been said already, but for what it's worth: As a whole, visually, it had lovely balance and variety and yes, I too have to say the glass flora was superb. It glowed and felt quite alien. I initially had the same trouble with the wooden lift as comphermc, but I figured there was a solution and when I discovered it, I thought it was really clever. All those partially obscured back layer tunnels made me feel like I was exploring. I did have a little frustration with the boulder that you pull down and climb on. Its position made it very difficult to get on top of it as I kept going into the back plane, but the second time through, it fell in a different place and wasn't so difficult. I didn't even question the three layers in the revolving rocks... looked great to me and I didn't have a problem with the camera angle either. Once inside the bunker, the gameplay was clean, smooth and had varying degrees of difficulty, which I always like. I find all your levels like that, actually. I died a lot of times in the section with the red gas where you run and grab the roof as I was convinced the front plane had no gas and i was just leaping into the wrong plane. It looked to me like it had no gas. But I got through in the end : ) The screen with flashing images.. I just said "wow". I assume you used emitters? The amount of tweaking in that must have nearly done your head in, so please know it was appreciated and impressive. What else...? Trying to do it from memory here at the end of a busy day... Like some others, I was also a little miffed that my destroying the reactor (or whatever... sorry!) didn't kill the guns, which then killed me, but that's minor really. Visually it was highly effective. I don't know how the sun glitch works - in fact here is the first place I've heard of it. I thought it was emitted lighting. I also loved the background in the cut scene where your ship explodes (the first time) - the same as Project genesis. Just beautiful. How do you do that? The ending felt a little abrupt to me. I was hoping that large sackboy in the cell or whatever that room was (wasn't really sure about that) might say something, but alas. Then I pulled the switches and it was all over! So I had to play it again : ) Overall, a brilliant level that I gave 5 stars and a heart and will play many more times. Thanks for the time and effort ;P If you want to do me some feedback, you can choose either of the levels on my sig (I'd just be happy if you played them), but I'm sure you'll be inundated and so if you can't get to it, that's cool. | 2009-10-12 11:51:00 Author: BabyDoll1970 Posts: 1567 |
First, let me pile on: Vera Bee Glass, Nite Owl track, cave layer action, blah blah blah, you radiate excellence, 5 stars and a heart, yadda yadda, I have a small shrine to you here at the house...wait, crap! Not that last bit! Anyway, been thinkin' 'bout that ship crash. Got a better idea: belly-in. Spaceships enter atmospheres on a flat, shielded side: going in point-first distributes too much heat through the cabin. So just nose the ship up, maybe add an underside flames effect, then make it come in at exactly the angle it already does. Sorted. | 2009-10-12 14:47:00 Author: coyote_blue Posts: 422 |
I got to play this as soon as you released it, but I'm only getting to the comments today. As usual, fantastic work! Nice, varied gameplay with several stand-out platforming moments. I loved the level of detail you put in - really made me feel like I was on an alien planet filled with strange creatures. From a "story" perspective I enjoy this series more than your other levels. I find myself on the edge of my seat wondering what will pop up next. From a "gameplay" perspective, I prefer your HyperSphere levels... but I think the difference between the two series shows how diverse you are. Great job! | 2009-10-12 14:52:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
I think Im gonna agree with Cubbage on this one. Your Hyper series does have better gameplay, but Im wondering is it fair to compare the two as there so different in what their trying to achieve. Its always going to pull you out of the imersiveness when you slip in cut scenes and story elements into a level. Looking at this level on its own I really enjoyed it, one or two areas at the start with the rock left me wondering where to go but I quickly got into it and thouroughly enjoyed the level. Now, I really can't comment on this level properly as I played it this morning with the worst Monday hangover in history so Im going to go through it again as soon as I can with a clearer head this time | 2009-10-12 15:07:00 Author: wexfordian Posts: 1904 |
I played it this morning to. I thought it was excellent. I loved the cave sections, they has a nice alien eerie feel to them. I thought all the cutscenes were good, especially Earth getting blown up lol!. I agree with Morgana though, the large ship near the start looks a little weird with the rocks behind it. The robots you encounter looked good, as did all the other assests in the level (the spaceships, mushrooms etc). All in all, I really enjoyed it. ***** and hearted | 2009-10-12 15:12:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |
OK then MrsSpookyBuzzzzzzzzzzzzz, I played your level and man was it...well fun You're not greatly known for your visuals but I though they were pretty solid throughout, especially from the ship sections. I wasn't a fan of the spinning rock things. I had trouble seeing my poor sackperson and died like a bazillion (incidentaly also your age!) times. Might just be me and my tv exposure or something (most likely your eyes see like that anyway). And that is pretty much my only complaint about it. The rest was lovely, great visuals and obviously the classic Spooky gameplay (not literally spooky, but "Spooky", y'get me?) And the end was the most awesome-est thing evar Five stars and a heart from me MrsS | 2009-10-12 22:17:00 Author: Coxy224 Posts: 2645 |
great level gave it five stars even though it was lacking in spots Goods: -you integrated the new track into the level nice -amazeing cave -the vegetation in the cave was well done -snail made me pee myself Bads: - the crawling threw the vent system doesnt make much sense as i dont know why they would leave and open pipe in a cell. maby add a grate you have to pull off? -the cell seemed alittle hastily made. Like a rectangular cut out in the middle of an infinite expansion of mgs metal with lasers infront of it. -ship crash seemed idk just unrealistic, strange noises, blows in one big BOOM before touching the ground and maby you could zoom in so you can really get the feel of how big it really is or add more detail w/e -now once i hit the bunker place i felt a dramatic drop in detail and signifigance of obstacles. - got lost when i hit the point where the strange looking robots are on either side of you then you drop into the hypercube (lol) kinda felt like the story just jerked into another demension. probably need to play first part. -boss was...well everyones said this one already overall i think if you put the effort and creativity from the cave and put it in the metal rooms aswell it would really improve the level. :star::star::star::star::star: | 2009-10-12 23:06:00 Author: Littlebigdude805 Posts: 1924 |
I played this yesterday but I did'nt know it was on here. I can remember hearting it and thinking ........ woah .........pure epicness (Is that a word?) I don't care, that's what the level was. | 2009-10-13 16:39:00 Author: shindol Posts: 78 |
I have to say that was excellent. By the way, what was the audio track during the portion with the mushrooms, etc.? | 2009-10-14 03:34:00 Author: Jagrevi Posts: 1154 |
It's "Wise Owl", from the new Music Pack. The whole of which, I might add, is fraught with potential for mixes. | 2009-10-14 14:34:00 Author: coyote_blue Posts: 422 |
I played it yesterday - very impressive work!!! At the end I was a bit confused by the structure, because I was thinking "is this area a multi-way-section?" - As I pulled a level and reached the scorebaord instantly, it was a bit odd. The boss fight was entertaining, but I would suggest to make the plasma-balls stop fireing after the boss is beaten... ;-) Sorry, I didn't read the whole post, so maybee there's something about that in a erlier post :-) Nevertheless: a great level. :star::star::star::star: | 2009-10-14 17:25:00 Author: (___NEO___) Posts: 206 |
Level arrived in perfect condition, very well polished and packaged. Excellent seller, would buy from again, A+++++! Oh wait, this isn't ebay? I had a lot of fun playing this level. It might seem simple at first glance, but there's a lot of interesting elements such as the cutscenes, computer screens and secret point bubbles, not to mention the solid gameplay experience. I don't get a whole lot of time to play levels anymore, but I got a chance to play this today. This was a wonderful level. I'm not good at giving feedback, but I will say that I loved it and gave it 5 stars and the "Hoists" tag. Great work! | 2009-10-18 01:49:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
I don't get a whole lot of time to play levels anymore, but I got a chance to play this today. This was a wonderful level. I'm not good at giving feedback, but I will say that I loved it and gave it 5 stars and the "Hoists" tag. Great work! Hey, cool! I gave it "Hoists" too! Ummm.... when I last gave feedback for this level I was being rushed out the door... I went back in and played it 2 more times last night - lots of fun! A couple minor things: 1. On the part with the big turning things with the grabbable material inside.... One thing that occurred to me is when you are in the LOWER half the camera angle makes it difficult to properly judge the jumps. It may work better if you had a secondary camera in the bottom where it panned more upward sou could see the jumping straight-on. 2. The part with the plasma shooting and the 4 keys you have to place in the slots.... When I completed this part I accidentally turned off my jetpack and fell down into one of the slots.... problem was, the bright lights in the middle TOTALLY hid my pop-it menu so I couldn't see to "try again"... but I was stuck in the slot. Maybe put gas in the slots so you can drop the keys in, but you can't fall in yourself and survive. Minor things, however, and I definately gave it 5 stars and a heart. Totally immersive story-based level series... and I LOVED the ending. Speaking of endings, maybe you should tie ALL of your levels together! Wouldn't it be cool if you fell out of Hyer Cube Frenzy...... onto the back of a dragon? Great job! | 2009-10-18 18:53:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
Speaking of endings, maybe you should tie ALL of your levels together! Wouldn't it be cool if you fell out of Hyer Cube Frenzy...... onto the back of a dragon? Ha! Believe it or not, one of my considerations was to have a big dragon chasing the player in the Escape Ship, but thought it may be pushing even LBP reality a little too far. -------- Thanks very much for everyone's feedback - it is very much appreciated. | 2009-10-18 22:20:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |
Finally got around to playing this and I had a blast! The intro and ship explosion was especially awesome! The visuals were well done throughout, but I must admit that I really enjoyed the at the first half of the level. I just loved the mushrooms and creatures throughout! I did have some trouble with the smaller, closed in areas toward the end, but nothing too frustrating. Overall, a wonderful level and the way it tied into your other series of levels was very cool! Well done! | 2009-11-04 17:23:00 Author: mrsupercomputer Posts: 1335 |
Yikes!!! I'm actually glad mrsupercomputer played this late, I forgot to leave my thoughts!! A zillion+ apologies! This was a really really fun level. I loved the continuation of the series as well the change from the lab feel from the prior episode into the space caverns well adorned with kooky glass critters popping in and out of the scenes. I also liked the transition back to the complex. I also enjoyed the really wonderful ending as well as fun explanation for the cubes of hyper! I really liked the involved platforming throughout the level as it made it fun to poke around and explore. All in all great fun, great level, with fun and immersive visuals. 5 stars and a heart! Can't wait to see what is next from the land of spooky! | 2009-11-04 17:47:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
