Its somewhat hard to tell from the pictures (at least for me) whats going on. Perhaps you could explain? And there are many ways to make a randomizer, as long as its random enough for you it should work 2009-10-11 10:52:00

Put four blocks of dm on square.
Put one block of dissolve material to center.
Attach four ropes from dm to dissolve and tweak them to 0 length.
Start time and dissolve block start vibrate.

Interesting method. I'm not sure how random it would be, but it seems like it might work.

What is the function of your picker?

It spins depending randomizer and when you want random output it shoots paintinator ammo to switch.2009-10-11 14:17:00

For a really simple, but still random one, just do what you've done with the four paint switches, but instead of all of the extra work at the top, just attach it to a speed switch with a wire connecting it to a proximity switch. That way, the player's movement's will control the randomizer, and the player won't be able to replicate their movements. As long as your level doesn't allow them to stand still for a long period of time, no pattern will develop.2009-10-11 14:21:00

I think all the above stuff is the speed switch... or am I mistaken?

By the way, I would avoid making the middle block out of dissolve - it's more susceptible to breaking, which would be bad. Actually, is it possible to break dissolve by pulling it apart? Bsprague, you wanna test that with your glitched heavy block?

Pulling it apart how? By placing a piece of dissolve on a platform of dark matter, attaching it to a string which is attached to the heavy block, and then dropping the heavy block?

Exactly what I had in mind.

Set up:

The left is a normal block, all blocks are one large grid size. The right is the heavy block.

After drop:

I caught it just before it broke. The dissolve on the right was destroyed and the heavy block fell to the ground.

@comphermc
yes, it is speed controller and I chance it cardboard then.

I have read about using player as seed but this is easier in full length level.

@ Bsprague - I figured as much.

@ waD_Delma - I'll have to go play with the design myself to see if it's truly random.
